Good morning, AG!
Today in Chiefs’ history, in 1988, Todd Blackledge was traded to the Steelers.
In 1461, Edward the IV defeated Henry VI in the War of the Roses. The Dominion of Canada was created in 1867, and Cy Young was born the same year. The King and I debuted on Broadway in 1951. The 23 Amendment, giving DC residents the right to vote in presidential elections, was certified in 1961. The United States got out of Vietnam in 1973. The terra cotta soldiers of Xian, China, were discovered in 1974. Wayne Gretzky scored his final goal in 1999.
That’ll do it, so let’s see what’s new. Walk this way.
Chiefs Remain ‘Optimistic’ About Re-Signing 5-Year NFL Vet: Report | Heavy
Within it was a smart but intriguing note from discussions with head coach Andy Reid at the NFL League Meeting in Arizona. “Reid also shared that the Chiefs are optimistic they will be able to re-sign receiver Justin Watson to another one-year deal to help the offense and special teams units,” Taylor reported. “Watson, a [five]-year veteran, posted more receiving yards last season (315) than [Mecole] Hardman (297).”
Here’s a bold 2023 NFL draft prediction that could benefit Chiefs | ChiefsWire
Our friend Jeff Risdon, of Draft Wire and Lions Wire fame, released his 10 bold predictions of the 2023 NFL draft. Several were notable and could impact how things play out for the Chiefs in the first round and beyond, but one prediction stood out above the rest.
Here’s when Chiefs will have to trim their 90-man offseason roster to 53 players | ChiefsWire
According to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, the NFL adopted resolution G-4 which sets a roster reduction date and procedures for roster reduction. A total of 25 NFL teams proposed this resolution, including the Kansas City Chiefs, and it received enough support for approval.
WATCH: Chiefs legend Tamba Hali working with George Karlaftis
Tamba Hali shared a video on his Instagram of him working alongside Chiefs second-year edge rusher George Karlaftis. Hali, of course, ranks second all-time in franchise history in sacks (89.5) and forced fumbles (33) behind only Derrick Thomas.
Insider Gives Key Injury Update on Chiefs WR Justyn Ross | Heavy
“Another dark horse candidate at the position for next season is Justyn Ross, who joined the Chiefs last year as an undrafted rookie but didn’t play after undergoing another foot surgery in July,” Taylor wrote. “Ross’ journey toward making his NFL debut began with long and grueling rehab. But he began sprinting and working on his route-running techniques in early February, even before the Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles to become Super Bowl LVII champions.”
How the Chiefs will replace key starters lost in free agency |
“He’s looking at everybody and everything, but whether he moves on it or not, I can’t tell you that,’’ Reid told reporters of Veach on Monday at the NFL owners’ meetings. “I don’t know how that’s going to pan out, but I know we’re comfortable with the guys that we have.
Simple rule (and I can be as moody as anyone) You can call any of my thoughts or any of my posts stupid and I am okay with that. When you start calling me stupid, the line has been crossed.
I agree, calling someone stupid is not acceptable! I was extremely upset about the same exact problem about 6 months ago. I was vile for a couple of days. Feel free to call the mf’er out I’m sure you will be supported
I’m sorry you made this comment at 4pm in a Morning Huddle. It will get absolutely 0 views. It needs to be seen by all
Kaepernick being blackballed – possible. Lamar Jackson collusion – possible. Here is the one thing that I know for sure. IF one owner thought they were Patrick Mahomes level talent, they would have been signed.
yup
29 days until the draft!
I’m a little disappointed over the news of Calais Campbell signing with ATL. I had hoped the Chiefs would get him this year as our elder statesman rotational D lineman trying to get a ring. I really like Calais.
seems like every year we look at Calais for that veteran DE role that we use every season
Yeah – he was one that I had on my wish list.
WR Rumor Could ‘Benefit’ Chiefs, Says Insider
He wrote: “In the long run, this could turn out to be a good thing for Kansas City. Obviously, they’d probably prefer it were a strong draft class at the position, but that doesn’t mean they won’t be able to find a solid contributor. If the draft class is perceived to be weaker at the top, perhaps they won’t feel pressed into reaching for a player in the first round. Remember, the goal is always to be able to invest in the best player available at a given pick.”
If he’s feeling good and healthy, it will be fun to watch him play on this offense.
I propose
WR1 K. Toney, WR2 Justyn Ross, WR3 Skyy Moore
adding DeHop moves everyone back one
FIFY – adding DeHop moves the whole team back
BOOM!
pssssssssst
MVS would like a word with you
NFL owners vote to allow sportsbooks in stadiums on game days
NFL owners voted to allow physical sportsbooks to operate on game days starting with the 2023 season, league sources told The Athletic. The vote occurred Monday at the NFL owners’ meetings in Scottsdale, Ariz. Here’s what you need to know:
In reality, many fans gamble on their mobile devices, so betting on game days in-stadium was already occurring in those states where it is legal.
A reason for the Chiefs to build new stadium in Kansas???
Yes, but indirectly. Part of KS gambling proceeds are earmarked for luring a professional sports team. Might make a good article

Cam Smith, CB, South Carolina
Height: 6-1. Weight: 180. Arm: 31.63. Hand: 9.13.
Official 40 Time: 4.43.
Projected Round (2023): 1-2.
3/18/23: Smith is the latest Gamecocks corner with potential No. 1 cover-corner potential for the NFL. Pro team sources say Smith is fast and moves well to run the route and prevent separation. While Smith’s size is adequate, scouts say he has very long arms for a corner who is around 6-foot. In 2022, Smith recorded 27 tackles, an interception and five pass breakups. He was one of the best corners in the SEC the year before, recording 41 tackles, three interceptions and 11 passes defended.
And here’s a look at who the Chiefs have drafted in the fifth round since 1967:
2022 | Pick No. 145 | Darian Kinnard | OT | Kentucky
2021 | Pick No. 181 | Cornell Powell | WR | Clemson
2021 | Pick No. 162 | Noah Gray | TE | Duke
2020 | Pick No. 177 | Mike Danna | DE | Michigan
2017 | Pick No. 183 | Ukeme Eligwe | LB | Georgia Southern
2016 | Pick No. 165 | Tyreek Hill | WR | West Alabama
2016 | Pick No. 162 | Kevin Hogan | QB | Stanford
2015 | Pick No. 173 | James O’Shaughnessy | TE | Illinois St.
2015 | Pick No. 172 | D.J. Alexander | OLB | Oregon St.
2014 | Pick No. 163 | Aaron Murray | QB | Georgia
well, there ya go …
NO WHINING!
there I go agreeing with you again. We gotta’ put a stop to that
IKR?
All NFL owners standing together – to STOP NFL players from getting TONS of guaranteed MONEY. Because they know, J. Hurts, J. Burrow, J. Herbert & many others upcoming QB’s………DON’T ask for the same deal.
Kirk Cousins & Deshawn Watson…..counting their guaranteed $$$.
NFL is the most violent sport in the world. But, MLB & NBA passing out TONS guaranteed money like candy. NFL owners make TONS of more $$$ than MLB & NBA.
Lamar Jackson stand your ground!!!! You maybe the next colin kaepernick – owners stood together = bye bye to colin career.
If this was 2020, he would be paid already. It’s 2023 and his numbers have signicantly declined. He can’t stay healthy for entire season. Not available for the playoffs.
Sounds like he’ll be playing on the franchise tag this year.
Kirk Cousins made the playoffs twice and lost both games before getting his guaranteed money. Watson was literally unavailable for the prior year and a half before getting his guaranteed dollars.
Just saying…
All I have to say about Watson is Browns going to Brown.
Cousins contract was a 2 year extension then a one year extension. I don’t really think it’s comparable to what Lamar is asking for. Plus he’s a very different type of qb.
I predict he will be the next LeVeon Bell not the next Kaepernick
Kaepernick sucked as a starting QB that is why he is not playing in the NFL.
Kaepernick looked good until the DCs figured out how to defend his run options, then he became a a mediocre QB at best. He wasn’t the first NFL QB who had that happen and he won’t be the last.
I’d be hesitant to give a very long term contract Lamar because his style of play opens him to more injuries. And it’s not clear from what I’ve seen that he can succeed just playing a pocket passer.
This is a BS comment, but I can’t respond appropriately because I might hurt someone’s little feelings. This place is starting to suck.
I’m truly sorry to see you say that. I know that you and I have butted heads on occasion, but you’re a valuable member of this place (certainly more so than I am) and seeing you duck out wouldn’t be very enjoyable.
All are welcome here, as has been said, and anything that ruffles the feathers of others is (likely) more a reflection on them than it is on you.
I know that will do little to change your opinion of things, and I understand if you feel like a break from AG is needed for sanity/recharging reasons, but I hope that any such sabbatical is short term.
😘
Nah. Just respond with your well-thought and respectful reasons why he is wrong about Kaep and if someone can’t handle that, then oh well for them.
Also, I agree with Nas 100%.
I don’t believe anyone is getting but hurt about Chiefs stuff, and if they are- Tough!
I, for one appreciate your football enthusiasm and hope you keep it up
it’s partly true (ie, Kaep wasn’t The Best that ever lived) … HOWEVER! the REAL reason he hasn’t played in years is because the owners didn’t like that he spoke his mind (kneeling on the sidelines) …. totall a HUGE (and major) part of the whole thing
(and if someone thinks I’m making a “political statement” here, fine … I’m telling the truth of the matter, and it’s football so there it is, people … if anyone doesn’t think the NFL is partly political itself they’re fooling themselves … politics and money, just that simple)
I only have problems with people who are certain they have a monopoly on the truth.
nobody has a “monopoly” on truth … truth is what it is: ie, facts
one can believe anything they want to believe, but facts ARE facts … and one can have any OPINION on any given thing, but an OPINION doesn’t necessarily make something TRUE (or FACTUAL)
so, I suppose I should ask: are you CERTAIN about that? 🙂
Absolutely 😉
Having just returned from a sabbatical, I can say they are not easy but can be necessary.
There’s an art to speaking your mind without stepping on egos. I (clearly) haven’t mastered it but I have met people who have it in clubs. Diamonds?
this place (AG) was made so fans could speak their minds
from the hearts
I’ve had one foot out the door for a little while now. It’s starting to recover from all the political debates and it’s probably best if I stay away till the beginning of the season. Take care my brothers.
You’ll always have a home here.
Have a good offseason and we’ll see you in August/September.
You pussy ……. Get your ass back here,
Please… I must’ve missed something, but I know this place is better with you in it….
We haven’t had a nice knock down/drag out in quite a while. Not sure what would be pushing you or anyone else away, frankly
we loveya pam
we’re not exactly sure WHY but hey … we’re here for ya anytime, Brother
thank you, I am honored
I don’t know how the guaranteed money works in the NBA and MLB, and I really don’t care. Both are lesser leagues and in my lifetime both have dropped in their significance. NFL owners (and players) would be stupid to copy them in almost anything. If the NFLPA really wants more guaranteed contracts they should change the escrow rules for them. I think that’s a primary reason the owners are fighting it because it ties up a lot of money for the life of the contract. I think Mahomes contract with the rolling guarantees was the perfect compromise for it and I’m surprised more players haven’t pushed for that instead. It doesn’t force owners to tie up huge money in escrow for years and still gives the player a good amount of security that increases every year.
Tell me if I have this straight:
Clark, seeking a good but not guaranteed deal for being absolute CASH in the playoffs every year – Don’t be a fool. You’re not worth it. Take what you are offered.
Jackson, seeking a fully guaranteed deal at the top of the market after being hurt every year for the last 2 (3?) at the most important position in the game, AND not even trying to play in the Ravens only playoff game – Stand your ground! The Owner’s make TONS of money! The is BULLJIVE!
Do I have that right?
LOL
pretty much looks like it, but what do I know
FWIW: I have little empathy for anyone who’s offered $32M to play a game and whines about it
I would do much worse things for $32M.
Wait … is there a $1M bond out for you?
Roger Goodell, just now: “I don’t think we are putting Amazon over the players”
so are they planning on having 2 thursday night games a week?
Patrick Mahomes among critics of TNF scheduling change

Giants owner finds one NFL rule proposal ‘abusive’ to fans
I’m with Patrick on this one. If they pass this they will quickly move to “flexing” Thursday night games. Which means the Chiefs are almost guaranteed to get the max number allowed. It’s clearly a competitive disadvantage to have to play 2 and have other teams playing 1 or 0. I think the 0 teams are most likely to be the lousy teams, so that may not be as big an issue, but we’ll be competing against a lot of teams for playoffs and seeding who will only have 1. Goodell is spouting BS if he thinks that isn’t a competitive disadvantage to for teams playing 2.
I enjoy watching Thursday night games even though the level of play does seem lower than the Sunday and Monday games, but I felt it was only fair because EVERY TEAM played one, so it’s equally bad/unfair for everyone. So if they can’t keep it that way they should get rid of it.
Gotta think betting the over on 11.5 wins is the easiest money you’ll make this year. Mahomes has never had a year with fewer than 12 wins, and with the extra game, it seems like it’s almost a foregone conclusion that they’ll hit 12-14 wins.
Under on the donkeys 8.5 is easier money.
I believe you misspelled undefeated..
I heard on the local sports radio this morning that the Colts are having a different starting QB for the 8th straight year. That’s gotta suck!
Posted something about this about a week ago. It was a conversation on Reddit. Opening Day starting QBs. The Browns went something like 12 years doing that. The Commanders are on a similar run as the Colts are.
We are so lucky right now…
“WORLD CHAMPIONS”
3x “WORLD CHAMPIONS!”
Is this supposed to distract me? Why would you think that – AWWWWWWWWW – Burned myself with my coffee!!!!
It’s supposed to be engaging and titillating?
