As more than a handful of NFL coaches elected to rest their starting quarterbacks throughout the preseason — to guard against the risk of injury — Patrick Mahomes did something against the grain. He played. Same he did the year before. And same as the year before that. You know, this guy might be on to something.

Will there be more chargers fans in attendance on Thursday in KC than there were in LA yesterday? Looked like about 6 total yesterday.

What I’m tired of is people trying to put allen on the same level as Patrick. Is allen a great qb? Yes. For me the closest comparison is roethlisberger, but can run. I’ve been watching the NFL for over 60 years and have never seen anyone play the game like Patrick. He consistently makes throws that other qb’s will occasionally make. With the flick of the wrist he drops dimes. His vision is off the charts. He can read defenses as well as anyone that’s played the game. When he runs it’s like he has 360 degree vision. Are there other great qb’s in the league? Yes there are, but No One is on Patrick’s level. I’ll be silly enough to compare him to the Beatles. It’s him, and then there’s everyone else.

“Better” I’d agree with, “way better” not so much. I think people are forgetting how much a monster Ben was because he played like such dog shit the last few years. But he was a large, tough to bring down QB that could actually throw the ball deep and accurately. That’s pretty much Allen’s description (just also add a great runner like PAM said).

Big ben was beast to take down. When you failed he threw a dagger deep ball. When you fail to take down Allen he runs the ball. I’ll take Big Ben.

Unfortunately I think we’re going to be hearing about him all season – at least early on – until the talking heads can get over themselves.

I just want to compliment the team doing the huddles – they put a lot more personality in them than I did and it makes them better. They also often add to the today in history part, which is all their own research. A+ guys.

Indeed. Kind of a strange game what with Butker and JReid, Mahomes’ wrist (loved that close-up of his right-handed hand-off) and then Allegretti coming in. The victory never seemed in doubt, Mahomes was superlative, the D was strong, let’s hope the healing up goes fast. The Dolts will be a much bigger test then it’s ten days to get set for the next portion of the season.

Maybe some dopes think Furious George didn’t do enough? Seems to me he had a very solid first pro game.

he was solid, but also came in with super insanely high expectations and hype from fans (as if he’d get 30 tackles-for-loss and 12 sacks in his first game alone)

Four Sack Frank should be on that list for losing his job to Furious George.

Their rotation of guys between the DEs seemed interesting. Seemed like George, Dunlap, Frank and Danna were rotating a lot especially on the left side.

I have no complaints about how our entire d line played yesterday. Kyler is the 2nd most explosive qb in the league.

ummmmmmmmmmmmm … I have to disagree … he can run with it, but …. no, he’s not even up to Lamar Jackson level

To be fair, Lamar Jackson isn’t even up to Lamar Jackson’s level. Everyone just has him on this pedestal, but the reality is he’s only above average.

context matters … the basic idea was that Karlaftis didn’t make many plays (true statement) but that it may also have been “by design” and that his main role just MIGHT have been to help “contain” Murray on-the-run (which is indeed what happened throughout the game)

I saw that. GK was fine. I’d love to see a breakdown of how many plays he played but he didn’t look bad to me. The batted pass seemed like a big deal to me. I’d also like to see how other EDGE/DE rookies played this week as a comparison. The worst was down in the comments where one idiot, who hates GK, ranted about how bad he played.

Kyler Murray had only 193 total passing yards in the game. The Chiefs scored with 3:53 left 3rd Qtr to make it 37-7. After that point, Kyler Murray passed for 100 yards. Meaning that over half his passing yards came after the game was decided. So the defenses overall contained Murray just fine.
