Coming for the Kingdom: How impactful can Xavier Worthy and other rookies be in Andy Reid’s complex offense? | Yahoo Sports
The Kansas City Chiefs’ pursuit of an unprecedented three straight Super Bowl titles is one of the top stories of the NFL season. Everyone knows they have the quarterback and coaching to do it, but now they’ll be relying on some new faces to help them achieve that goal as well.
Head coach Andy Reid’s playbook is one of the most complex in the NFL, and notoriously difficult for rookies to pick up, especially wide receivers. But general manager Brett Veach has drafted well the past few years, and receiver Rashee Rice played an integral role as a rookie last season in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl championship.
Patrick Mahomes wants better start for Chiefs, more Week 1 magic when Ravens visit Thursday night | AP News
https://apnews.com/article/kansas-city-chiefs-patrick-mahomes-21efe0ce4c27aadc9ab555d01b008a68
The Kansas City Chiefs insist that they are not thinking about last year’s opener against Detroit, when they celebrated their latest Super Bowl triumph with a flag-raising ceremony and were promptly beaten by the Lions.
Patrick Mahomes is chief among them.
The three-time Super Bowl MVP had by far the worst Week 1 performance of his career that night, completing barely more than 50% of his passes for just 226 yards with his fewest touchdown passes (two) and first interception in six season openers.
Former Bengals Running Back to Play Key Role for Chiefs in Week 2 Showdown | Sports Illustrated
Former Bengals running back Samaje Perine signed with the Chiefs last week.
The veteran is expected to have a big role in Kansas City and should see plenty of snaps against the Bengals in Week 2.
The Chiefs placed Clyde Edwards-Helaire on the NFI list on Monday, which means he’ll miss the first four games of the season—including Cincinnati’s matchup with Kansas City in Week 2.

The best quarterbacks give their teams a high chance at winning the Super Bowl.
That’s why spoiler alert [redacted] is the cream of the crop. He consistently gets the [redacted] into the most important games and, despite the brilliance of others, succeeds against his challengers.
But what about the rest of the crop? Where does the likes of San Francisco 49ers’ Brock Purdy, Philadelphia Eagles’ Jalen Hurts and Buffalo Bills’ Josh Allen stand?
As the 2024 season gets underway soon with a battle of two quarterbacks on this list, let’s rank the 10 best.
Chiefs Eager to See How Kingsley Suamataia Fares in NFL Debut vs. Ravens | Sports Illustrated
When the Kansas City Chiefs square off against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night, there will be plenty of things to monitor. How the club’s rookie class fares should be at or near the top of the list.
Many will be keeping an eye on first-round wideout Xavier Worthy, but someone selected a bit later might be equally as intriguing in Week 1. Second-round offensive lineman Kingsley Suamataia, Kansas City’s starting left tackle, faces quite the challenge right off the bat.

Detroit Lions will win the Super Bowl in dramatic fashion, ESPN simulation predicts | Detroit Free Press
Everyone on the team believes it, from the players to the front office. The fans believe it. The local and national media believe it.
And now, the computers are buying the Detroit Lions as bona fide Super Bowl favorites entering the 2024 season.
ESPN ran 20,000 simulations of the upcoming season using their Football Power Index (FPI) ratings, and randomly selected one season to predict how this year will shake out and it was very bullish on the Lions.
Patrick Mahomes ‘Excited’ to Have JuJu Smith-Schuster Back | Sports Illustrated
https://www.si.com/nfl/chiefs/gm-report/patrick-mahomes-excited-to-have-juju-smith-schuster-back
The Kansas City Chiefs’ wide receiver room welcomed some new faces into the fold during the offseason, but an old friend reunited with the team just in time for the 2024-25 campaign. The addition of JuJu Smith-Schuster helps solidify the group, especially with Marquise “Hollywood” Brown missing a bit of time with a sternoclavicular injury.
For Smith-Schuster, it’s a welcome sight to be back in a place he’s familiar with. Just two seasons ago, he had one of his better years and helped Kansas City capture its first of two Super Bowls in a row. They won earlier this calendar year without him but ahead of the push for a three-peat, their veteran wideout is expected to play a role.
Chiefs’ Clyde Edwards-Helaire on NFI list, out at least 4 games | ESPN
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/41096578/chiefs-clyde-edwards-helaire-nfi-list-least-4-games
Running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire has been placed on the non-football illness list by the Kansas City Chiefs, ESPN’s Field Yates reported.
Edwards-Helaire will miss the first four games of the season before he’s eligible to return.
Edwards-Helaire recently detailed his battles with PTSD. He missed several training camp practices and wasn’t on the practice field with the Chiefs on Sunday as they began preparations for Thursday night’s season opener against the Baltimore Ravens.
A decades-old KC Chiefs record is about to fall… in half the time it took to set | Kansas City Star
https://www.kansascity.com/sports/nfl/kansas-city-chiefs/article291757910.html
Len Dawson completed his NFL career in 1975 as one of the game’s greatest quarterbacks. He led the league in completion percentage a record eight times and touchdown passes four times. The latter record stood until Tom Brady led the league in TD passes for a fifth time in 2021 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
By the standards of his era, Dawson — in his 14 seasons with the Chiefs organization — played the position at its highest level. Just as Patrick Mahomes is doing now. The difference is in the game itself, which explains how Mahomes, about to begin his seventh year as the Chiefs’ starting quarterback, is poised to surpass Dawson in multiple Chiefs career passing categories.

Ummm. Good luck with that approach Mr. Smith….
How do you beat Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs? According to Baltimore Ravens linebacker Roquan Smith, you need to make them one-dimensional.
Though, the single dimension being discussed may surprise you.
Speaking with media on Saturday ahead of their Week 1 matchup against the Chiefs, Smith was asked what the key is to stopping Kansas City’s offense.
His response is as follows, per Jamison Hensley of ESPN:
right, uh huh
and the best by a longshot (and it’s not even close) when it comes to “one dimensional and passing” happens to be PM15

Let’s fucking Go !! Holly crap it’s almost time…. Andy to Patrick, on my command unleash HELL…… It doesn’t get any better than this folks……
It’s the most wonderful time of the year!
Hell yes brother…. Big time game..
Belisve!
I’ve always said that
Something I realized last night, and perhaps this is common knowledge.
Every player drafted by the Chiefs in the 1st round out of LSU has either been a bust or has failed to live up to expectations.
1991: Harvey Williams is selected by the Chiefs 21st overall. He struggled to get playing time behind Barry Word and Christian Okoye, then Marcus Allen, despite being 5th all time in all purpose yards at LSU. He had one 1000 yard season in 1994 with the Raiders.
2007: Dwayne Bowe is selected 23rd overall. While being one of the franchise leaders in receiving, and having 3 1000 yard seasons, he seems to be remembered more for dropping crucial passes and being suspended. He could, however, get a pass because of horrible QB play and not great coaching.
2008: Glenn Dorsey is selected 5th overall. Despite being SEC defensive player of the year and a unanimous All-American in 2007, he only had 7 sacks in the NFL and 321 tackles over a 10-year career. Todd Haley switching him from a DT to a DE when he took over the team did not help.
2009: Tyson Jackson is selected 3rd overall. Despite being 8th all time at LSU in sacks, he only collected 9 sacks at the pro level over an 8-year career. He also had only 15 pass deflections over that span (he had 18 in his senior season at LSU alone).
2020: Clyde Edwards-Helaire is selected 32nd overall. This was a guy I really liked out of college and was pretty thrilled when we drafted him. After a promising rookie season, however, he hasn’t lived up to 1st round status, despite having a 1400 rushing yard season in his junior year, adding 453 yards in receiving. He has never topped 803 yards since entering the NFL and Jonathan Taylor, who was drafted after CEH in the 2nd round, has had a more productive career up to this point.
All of this to say: if the Chiefs pick a guy out of LSU, be weary.
and Wary ! … ; )
I’m exhausted
I’m not sold on the idea.
I wouldn’t include Bowe. By far and away the best wr we had since what the 70s until the PM15 era. Knucklehead for sure but he’s a wr so what do you expect. Dorsey was fine. Disappointing compared to expectations but meh. Agree with the rest.
Speaks to the mediocrity the Chiefs had at WR more than the quality of Bowe
also …
1989 LB Ron Sancho
1980 WR Carlos Carson (the one guy that I’ve heard of, and he was VERY good)
1972 WR Andrew Hamilton
1969 LB Maurice LeBlanc
1968 DB Sammy Grezaffi
1967 TE Billy Masters

Yeah, we need to find his replacement. He just isn’t cutting it
well, maybe that’s why Bailey Zappe … just in case

Let’s not make people think this is a dormant site
I’m not so sure if it’s the account. I believe it’s updated semi-regularly. WordPress being what it is, I think there’s an underlying glitch at the site level that’s causing updated Twxts to not show here correctly.
Then maybe remove the section?
Above my pay grade.
Damn, dude. You have some pull. The powers behind the power have updated the code.
This is what happens when I actually have some time to look into back end stuff :)
Are you talking about OUR X account activity or what gets posted in the huddle?
And I agree. should do what we can to let folks know we are active

I am in charge of our Twitter account. There hasn’t been much to tweet about but our account has been active.
As for the embed on this article, I will also look into why that isn’t updating. The one on the homepage is updating.
