Speed is the ‘easy answer’ when describing Kansas City Chiefs’ Tyreek Hill | espn

https://www.espn.com/blog/afcwest/post/_/id/88036/unique-combination-kansas-city-chiefs-tyreek-hill-can-beat-you-with-more-than-speed

“He’s one of the best in the league at the line of scrimmage,” ESPN NFL analyst Matt Bowen said. “His lateral change of direction ability, his ability to set up a defensive back, allows him to get into the routes with more speed and to run away from coverage. He creates that instant separation and then you get into that immediate burst and then the long speed, which allows him to create explosive plays.

Chiefs make a pair of practice squad transactions on Tuesday | usatoday

Many were confused by the signing initially, especially when the team had just traded for TE Daniel Brown. Kansas City often signs players for brief periods like this when they need an extra body for the scout team offense or defense. It’s possible the Chiefs never truly had an intention of giving Griffin-Stewart a chance to stick with the team.

Small Wins Are Beginning to Stack for Chiefs’ Defense at All Levels | si.com

https://www.si.com/nfl/chiefs/podcasts/small-wins-are-beginning-to-stack-for-kc-chiefs-defense-at-all-levels

After back-to-back outings of holding their opponents to fewer than 20 points, things seem to be looking up for a unit that began the 2021 campaign as quite literally the worst defense of all time by some standards. Football Outsiders’ DVOA now ranks Steve Spagnuolo’s group at 28th in the league, which is multiple spots higher than where it was about a month ago. That’s a start.

The basic counting stats are also kind(er) to the Chiefs’ defense. It’s now 26th in total yards allowed per game, 21st in rushing yards allowed per game and 24th in scoring. While those numbers are far from the gospel and are undoubtedly padded by back-to-back games against questionable offensive attacks, that’s a start, too.

Chiefs punter Tommy Townsend named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week | KSHB

https://www.kshb.com/sports/chiefs-punter-tommy-townsend-named-afc-special-teams-player-of-the-week

Kansas City Chiefs punter Tommy Townsend was named AFC Special Teams Player of the Week.

The punter was joined by Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert and Jacksonville Jaguars defensive end/linebacker Josh Allen for Week 9 AFC Players of the Week.

During Sunday’s game against the Green Bay Packers, Townsend landed five of his six punts inside the 20-yard line, and he averaged 57 yards per punt, according to an NFL release.

Tyrann Mathieu’s foundation holding sweepstakes for trip to Chiefs vs. Raiders | usatoday

Potentially a turning point in both of the teams’ seasons, the matchup this Sunday at Allegiant Stadium is sure to be one of the most important games on the schedule for Week 10. With anticipation mounting and so much on the line, All-Pro safety Tyrann Mathieu is organizing a sweepstakes for an all-inclusive trip to Vegas to see Kansas City take on the 5-3 Raiders for a potential share of the lead in the AFC West.

Mathieu’s foundation Tweeted about the giveaway on Tuesday, telling fans that a $10 donation would enter them to win the grand prize of airfare, a hotel, and tickets to the game all for two people.

Chiefs OL Kyle Long off PUP list, returns to practice | fox4kc

According to reports, Kansas City Chiefs offensive lineman Kyle Long has been designated to come off the physically unable to perform list and is ready to return to practice.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid provides injury updates prior to Wednesday practice | usatoday

Chris Jones and Dorian O’Daniel have been excused for the day for personal reasons,” Reid began.

Both Jones and O’Daniel are expected back at practice later this week.

As for the injuries, Reid confirmed that both Lucas Niang and Mike Remmers would be held out to start the week. Niang suffered a rib injury during the Week 9 game against the Packers and Remmers has been dealing with a knee injury for the past two weeks.

Patrick Mahomes Reveals The 1 Thing He’s Learned This Season | thespun

https://thespun.com/more/top-stories/patrick-mahomes-reveals-the-1-thing-hes-learned-this-season

“These last few weeks have been big for me,” he said, per NFL insider Harold R. Kuntz. “… I’ve learned that we can punt the ball and back the team up and the defense is going to make stops. That’s big for me, because I want to score every drive and I still have that mindset to score TDs.”

Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes Address Report Linking Odell Beckham to Chiefs | heavy.com

“They haven’t reached out to me to do anything like that,” the quarterback explained, but we have not seen any further comments from Mahomes about the possibility of a new weapon joining his arsenal.

The former MVP deflected the questions to Veach according to Teope, taking a page out of Coach Reid’s presser playbook. The franchise may be keeping things buttoned up for now, but it’s only a matter of time before OBJ makes his decision.

Serious question: Why do you think he’ll be different here? And why do you think he’ll be different than Gordon (who I still hold out hope for)? What am I missing?
Gordon is likely thrilled for a chance. OBJ thinks every place owes him. Not sure why the only mid-season additions that seem to pan out are on the D side, but nothing we’ve done on Offense has mattered.

Well, I don’t believe all that I read and hear about OBJ. People love to hate. We don’t really know the context in which he behaves. He is a professional athlete. What he does at work (i.e.on the field) is different than how he might be personally. Like all of us. And he is not as young as he once was. Hopefully he has grown and matured, like most of us. There are examples of WR Diva’s who go to different team and different QB’s that make history. So Baker Mayfield has a problem with OBJ? That doesn’t give me reason to withdraw my benefit of the doubt. Time will tell for Josh Gordon. His experiment is not over. But OBJ can bring a lot to the ‘professional’ table. His abilities could change the whole dynamics of this offense. Is he capable? I beleive he is more than capable in his abilities to play WR..The team in KC and this organization is not a weak one. I doubt that they would be fazed by anything OBJ does. If he doesn’t produce or causes harm to the team than fire him. In the meantime I choose to give him the benefit of the doubt.

I respect the giving of the benefit of the doubt. I just don’t see him helping, based of previous stops. Guess it doesn’t matter now.

Anyone think Chiefs will win a SuperBowl with Hardman & Robinson??? Bueller, Bueller, Bueller

  • Randy Moss = bozo @ vikings & raiders
  • Randy Moss = baller @ pats — when he had a great QB (Brady)
  • Odell beckham jr = TBD @ chiefs – when he HAS a GREAT QB (CHIEFS)

He may take a few days?? Like he hasn’t been plotting his next move for weeks? If he’s all “Look at me” now, how will he deal with getting targets AFTER Hill & Klece? I see nothing good here

Also known as Armistice day, the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month 1918 hostilities ended. Here is a poem by Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae
:
         In Flanders Fields
In Flanders Fields, the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.

We are the dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie,
                              In Flanders fields.

Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
                                In Flanders fields.

IF Andy and EB are smart, they should take not that the Raiders have been very soft against the run this year. Please run the ball with attitude.

I am prepared to temporarily give a reprieve to any of the four receivers – Hardman, DRob, Pringle, and Gordon – who have a good game against the Raiders.

I find it interesting that Patrick Mahomes is not being very vocal on the OBJ sweepstakes – Is he being a professional and maintaining a good relationship with his receivers or is he not too excited about the prospect of OBJ joining the team?

It does him no good to be vocal about it.

1. If they don’t get him, the receivers left on the team will wonder if Mahomes wanted them replaced.

2. If he struggles in the next game, a lot of people would say he should have focused on preparing for the Raiders rather than trying to be the GM.

3. If we do get OBJ, and it doesn’t work out, the media will blame Mahomes saying the Chiefs gave him what he wanted.
