The Dallas Cowboys will be one weapon short when they take on the Kansas City Chiefs as wide receiver Amari Cooper has been placed on the Reserve/COVID list. Left guard Connor Williams has struggled with penalties this season, and now backup Connor McGovern is set to start in Week 11.

“I had a chance to go over to Afghanistan and kind of witness [what our military does for us] over there – just a small part of it – and I thought it was awesome. It was phenomenal,” said Head Coach Andy Reid. “The organization and the love for the country – all those things that I think are important – [were incredible]. [Our] society has existed longer than any other in the world, and you can see why when you go over there. There’s a strength to it, which gives you comfort here to do what we do, all of us.”

Chiefs to activate RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire from injured reserve | yahoo

https://sports.yahoo.com/chiefs-activate-rb-clyde-edwards-201655678.html

According to a report from NFL Network’s James Palmer, the Chiefs plan to activate Clyde Edwards-Helaire from injured reserve on Saturday. The former first-round draft pick suffered an MCL sprain back in the Week 5 loss to the Buffalo Bills. He was designated to return at the beginning of last week, but the team chose to give him an extra week of practice before activating him to the 53-man roster.

Chiefs vs. Cowboys: The Battle For the Preston Road Trophy | si.com

“Lamar made the Preston Road Trophy,” Jones said. “I live on Preston Road and Lamar lived about 200 yards from me. He had it built, it looks like a birdhouse. He had it all fixed up maybe 25, 26 years ago and he presented me with the Preston Road Trophy.”

Chiefs announce trio of roster moves on Saturday | usatoday

The team didn’t need to make room for Edwards-Helaire on the 53-man roster this week because of Marcus Kemp’s placement on the Reserve/COVID-19 list. Knowing they eventually would need to make a roster move, the team preemptively waived TE Daniel Brown, who was acquired in the Laurent Duvernay-Tardif trade. He was a healthy scratch last week and never ended up playing a game for Kansas City. He could return on the practice squad if he’s not claimed

Tell ya what, we out here in the LA area have been very lucky with the schedule. Even though there are two teams here only one game hasn’t been televised that I can remember.

CHIEFS!!!!!

I fully expect the Bengals to whip the Raiders as they continue on their downward spiral. Pittsburgh will run the ball down the throat of the Chargers and Herbie Rivers aka Justin Herbert will throw a couple of picks against the Steelers defense. The Chargers will lose against the Steelers. It will be a close call but the Broncos will edge the bye and avoid defeat this week.

Tight End career receptions
1 – Gonzalez – 1325
2 – Witten – 1228
3 – Gates – 955
4 – Sharpe – 815
5 – Olsen – 742
6 – Graham – 701
7 – Kelce – 674
8 – Newsome – 662
9 – Ertz – 593
10 – Davis – 583
11 – Gronk – 582

Kelce needs 253 yards in seven games to hit 1000 yards again. Catching Graham by the end of the season is reasonable as Graham only has two catches on the year. He should pass Olson next year and Sharpe the year after. Assuming he still has the juice, he should pass Gates as well in three – maybe four years. Will he last long enough to catch Witten and Gonzalez? Could happen if the Chiefs use him as a possession receiver as he starts to slow down over the next few years.

MVP RACE
1 – Tom Brady
2 – Patrick Mahomes
3 – Kyler Murray
4 – Matt Stafford
5 – Derek Carr

Potential candidates to join the list – Dak Prescott and Ryan Tannehill.

Mahomes needs to pour on the stats today as he has a bye coming up and will lose ground to the others. Brady and Tampa have been struggling and the lead has become much slimmer. Neither Murray – not playing – nor Stafford – been sucking – have made a move so they need to finish strong. IF Dak outduels Mahomes for a victory, he could rejoin the list. IF the Titans keep winning and Tannehill impresses he could possibly join the list. Derek Carr remains the favorite for his brother David.

Mahomes 139
Winston 135
Wentz 130
Prescott 126
Goff 115
AND
Deshaun Watson 104
Lamar Jackson 82
Mitch Trubisky 64

Here is how Mahomes stacks up in TD passes with those who were drafted before him as well as the same year and the future HOFer Lamar.

The fact that Winston has 135 is amazing. Are we counting those thrown to the other team?

He is also has been in the NFL longer than the others on the list. He would be challenging Tom Brady if we counted the picks.

Mahomes is #97 with 139 career TD passes – Next victim is Lynn Dickey with 141 career TDs. It will get harder and take longer to move up this list. At his current pace, he should pass Dan Marino and probably be in the top ten by 2030 – if not sooner.

That is barring injury of course and not taking into account that he will more than likely have a couple of super seasons with the stats. How far he goes in the stats will depend on his longevity. Getting to 500 career TDs should be relatively easy, joining Brees, Peyton, and Favre, and probably Rodgers at that point. Big Ben, Ryan, Stafford, and Wilson all have a shot for 500 at 406, 362, 306, and 277 respectively but could all fall short as well. None of the other active quarterbacks ahead of Mahomes have any chance of hitting the 500 mark – Flacco, Fitzpatrick, Dalton, Cousins, Newton, Tannehill, and the one and only Derek Carr. Mahomes should be around 450 by 2030 and hit 500 soon after. Will he have enough juice to get to 600 and join Brady as the only quarterback to hit this mark? How much more will Brady pour on before he declines? Can he catch Brady?

The reason that he stayed on the MVP list even when he struggled – he could easily put up killer stats during the back half of this season.

I estimate that Patrick will need around 22,500 career yards to move into the top 100. Patrick is currently #137 with his 17,092 yards and there are six active quarterbacks between him and #100 – two will not make much progress if any – Blake Bortles and Josh McKown – but the four others – Carson Wentz, Dak Prescott, Jared Goff, and Jameis Winston – all between 19,000 and 21,000 – will likely hit the top 100 before Mahomes. Mahomes will eventually pass them all and will enter the top 100 at some point next year.

EAFOX(@eafox)

The secret number is 417. Patrick Mahomes has 17,092 career passing yards. With 200 yards today, he will pass Stan Humphries, Don Meredith, Bill Kenney, and Wade Wilson. BUT he is 416 yards behind the legend that is Matt Cassel. He needs 417 yards to pass him up. I know – Len Dawson, Patrick Mahomes, Matt Cassel – hard to determine which quarterback to pick.

This game is huge. Well, okay, proximity bias, the last game also was huge. C’mon Chiefs, get the win and reset for the playoff push. Josh Gordon with a couple of catches today? Sure hope so, it’s about time, and it’ll give other DCs something to think (worry) about.

No doubt Hoosier is the real deal……

Hoosier, have a little patients with me, I’m still trying to figure this all out. My daughter who is a lot smarter than I promised to sit down with me and look at it today. Pompano said he would help with any questions we may have. And I’m sure BrAG would also pitch in to help get me started.., I promised I would try, and so I shall give it my best…

Hehe, ya that’s me too sometimes, although if I’m screaming it’s usually at the refs (which, generally speaking, is unfair).
And in this case, re the Huddle: the more cooks the better the broth.

Appreciate Hoosier and Rip for stepping in. I can help out during the summer but need extensive training as I am a technology nitwit. My only free day is Saturday now and I have my granddaughter so that is a loose definition of free but will have every day off during the summer – one of the few benefits of being a teacher.
