“If I could play alongside Julio Jones, that would be amazing,” Hill said Friday, according to Taylor Eldridge of The Kansas City Star. “I was in high school when he was doing his thing at Alabama, and I’ve been a fan ever since. How big he is, how fast he is, and how dominant he is, we all know Julio is arguably the best in the game. If I’m able to play alongside Julio, I would love it.”

Ive been reading D-Day by Stephen Ambrose. Really amazing feat to get that foothold back in France in between the logistics of moving that many people and that much equipment, the new unbattled tested equipment, the secrecy and subterfuge used to keep the landing day and location a secret, and obviously the bravery and sacrifice required of the men involved especially the paratroopers, glider troops, and anyone involved with Omaha beach.

If you’re ever in eastern Kansas, the Dwight D. Eisenhower Museum and Library in Abilene is well worth the visit. The basement gallery contains an exhibit about the strategy behind, and execution of, D-Day and Operation Overlord. Also included is an actual “dummy” box that they dropped to throw off the Nazis, containing shouted “instructions” that would make the Nazis open fire on these boxes, thinking that the Allies were landing elsewhere. (It’s likely they’ve expanded it beyond all this; I haven’t been since I was in high school, many moons ago.)

Truly, the greatest generation. Band of Brothers is very high on my list of books to read.

I read Band of Brothers first. Having seen the mini series approximately 95 times it made following the book much easier since the men and situations involved are the same.

Ill have to check out the Eisenhower museum sometime. Usually drive through abilene at least once a year.

I finally watched the mini-series last year, and it’s been sitting in my Amazon cart ever since, gathering (metaphorical) dust. That one and “The Pacific.” Wife and I just haven’t yet come around on buying them, but we both want to.

Mrs. Nasrani usually doesn’t go for history, or military-type stuff, so I was surprised that she got as into it as she did.

As for the museum itself, it appears to be re-opening, although limited to four hours a day, and with some of the attractions (the boyhood home) closed. It’s definitely worth the visit. Next time I’m in Kansas I’m planning on going.

Having Jones on the team would be a career dream come true for Hill, and I don’t mean from a playing with a personal hero standpoint (though that, too). Between Hill, Kelce, and Jones defenses would be up against a matchup nightmare of legendary proportions. Sure, Jones is a deep threat too, but Hill has an elusiveness that’s unmatched in the NFL. His ability to corner at 90 degrees while running at almost full speed is phenomenal, same as his ability to decelerate and accelerate. He could feast every time Jones took the coverage deep, on YAC alone.

Don’t get me wrong, while I’ve talked against the wisdom of getting Jones, whatever the cost, it would likely to be amazing if he were on our roster. I just don’t expect them to be able to swing it.

Agreed. I don’t know how they could swing it, but oh boy would it be fun!
