The Patriots will reportedly take two planes to Kansas City | Boston.com
According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, a source reports that one of the planes will carry “roughly 20 persons” that have had contact with quarterback Cam Newton, whose test results came back positive for COVID-19 late Friday night. All other Patriots players have reportedly tested negative. However, according to WCVB-TV’s Shaun Ganley, the Patriots are not taking their team planes as Florio reported. Instead, Ganley reports that they will be contracting planes through Delta Airlines.

Report: Chiefs, Patriots have received negative COVID-19 test results so far | ChiefsWire
According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, both the Chiefs and the Patriots have received negative COVID-19 test results since QBs Cam Newton and Jordan Ta’amu both tested positive. Each team is doing additional point-of-care tests this morning and further negative test results are needed for the league to officially reschedule the game. This is a step in the right direction for both teams.
Chiefs’ opponent preview, Week 4: Scouting the Patriots | ChiefsWire
In a series that dates back to the original AFL days, the Chiefs hold a 19-16-3 lead over the Patriots after 38 clashes. On the very first meeting between the two organizations, the Dallas Texans lost to the Boston Patriots 42-14. These are two of the most historic AFC organizations and have each claimed a spot among the most respected in the league. The Patriots won six Super Bowls in an 18-season stretch while the Chiefs have two Lombardi Trophies that are 50 years apart. While New England dominated the 2000’s and 2010’s, Kansas City could be on the verge of dominating the next two decades. While Tom Brady’s presence elevated the rivalry, this is still one of the more intriguing AFC battles.
Jordan Ta’amu’s Positive COVID-19 Test Triggers Protocol Activation for Kansas City Chiefs | SI.com
“That contact-tracer lets you know who you are around,” Burkholder said. “Now tomorrow, if we got a positive test, they would know that I spent five minutes with Ted Crews, or four minutes within six feet of [Director of Football Communications] Brad Gee. They would go back and trace that and then we would put our protocol in place based on the tracing. The tracing is a huge deal.”
Ta’amu has served as the Chiefs’ scout team quarterback and would’ve gone up against the first-team defense during practice this week. He may have also been in meeting rooms with quarterbacks coach Mike Kafka, Mahomes, second-string quarterback Chad Henne, and fellow practice-squad quarterback Matt Moore.
Wow, Texans fire O’Brien. They had a rough start, but also a difficult schedule. No way I would have picked him as being the first coach to get fired this season.
Damn. I guess maybe that Nuk trade actually did shorten his leash as much as we thought it would.
If I were EB I think the Chargers or the Texans is where I would want to go. Obvious downside of the Chargers is playing against Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid twice a year for the foreseeable future. But I think their QB might have a higher upside than Watson. And they have a better defense and better skill-position players.
I’d think an NFC team would be a better landing spot. I have a feeling the Vikings job might be available soon. Decent talent in place, a winnable division (assuming this is Rodgers’ last best year), and a bridge QB that he could keep or replace as the opportunity arises.
Wait…so, which divisions don’t already have a Reid disciple in it?
I still can’t get over the fact that the Eagles won their first game of the season in Wk 4 and vaulted into being alone in first place in their division. As Charlie Brown would say, “Good Grief.”
What a shitshow of a game.
Did my heart good to see a Shanahan lose, though.
So the 24 hour delay is to make sure no one else tests positive not to try and get the already positive players back. That makes sense I assume these guys tested positive on Saturday then.
I know teams are doing day-of testing for COVID. I wonder what protocol they’re using, like once a player/personnel tests do they stay in the building? How does that work?
I’d guess it might depend on whether they are feeling symptoms at the time or not.
Cute girl, dances like a grizzly.
she’s not dancing
Red Friday: The Monday Edition. Our WORLD CHAMPION Chiefs play host to Bill Belicheat and the Patriots. Should be an interesting one.
They said CBS , is that only local broadcast ??? Not seeing it listed on Austin channels… ?
CBS has the AFC contract which includes all home market team games. I don’t know if it will be televised nationally but I would be surprised if it were listed given the uncertainty
Mucho Gracias…. go Chiefs
It is national
CBS.com shows the Chiefs game scheduled nationwide.
My local cbs station in SW Missouri is still showing Wheel of fortune and TBD scheduled.
My guess is the local stations haven’t updated the schedules yet since this happened over the weekend.
Ok thanks, started to get worried..
CBS is advertising as nationally telecast, on the program guide down here.
It finally showed up in DC. I called CBS here, just to double check since I need to record it
