How a Texas snowstorm changed history for Patrick Mahomes — and the Chiefs, too | Kansas City Star

https://www.kansascity.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/sam-mcdowell/article285249722.html

The snow piled into the Texas Tech baseball stadium in Lubbock, Texas, 5.9 inches of it in all. This was late February 2015, and the storm not only wiped out a weekend baseball series, but it practically shut down a city that doesn’t even own snow plows. After a day or two, Texas Tech head coach Tim Tadlock and his assistant coaches stood ankle deep in the buildup, each of them with a shovel in hand as they tried to get “The Law,” as it’s called, back in shape.

Why on earth, you might wonder, is a Kansas City sports columnist writing about a snowstorm in Lubbock, Texas, from nearly 10 years ago? Well, by chain reaction, it’s one of the reasons the Kansas City Chiefs will play in the Super Bowl this Sunday.

Again.

Now on with the show!

well, how about THAT, folks! Chiefs get to beat Brady for years and years to come!

Tom Brady on track to become a Raiders minority owner, set for TV future with FOX | NFL

https://www.nfl.com/news/tom-brady-on-track-to-become-a-raiders-minority-owner-set-for-tv-future-with-fox

At long last, Tom Brady is on track to be a limited partner with the Las Vegas Raiders — and officially close the book on his storied NFL playing career as he transitions to new roles as minority owner and network on-air broadcaster.

Brady’s pending investment in the Raiders was recently altered to reflect the proper valuation of the team, and league sources say he has reached the threshold to clear the NFL’s hurdles and officially join the ranks of ownership.

***Ed Note: he is not allowed to play and would be considered officially retired, a player is not allowed to have equity stake in a team
