Chiefs HC Andy Reid says Melvin Ingram will play in Week 9 vs. Packers | yahoo

https://sports.yahoo.com/chiefs-hc-andy-reid-says-184113211.html

Apparently, Ingram has been able to rely on his veteran wit to get caught up to speed on the lingo in Kansas City. Addressing the media on Friday, Reid confirmed that Ingram would suit up and play in the Week 9 game against the Packers.

“Yeah, he’ll be up,” Reid told reporters. “We’ll have a few plays for him. He’s looking good. He’s done a nice job.”

Chiefs OC Eric Bieniemy raves over all phases of team’s developing run game | yahoo

https://sports.yahoo.com/chiefs-oc-eric-bieniemy-raves-174527535.html

“There are lanes to be found,” He said of the developing strategy on the ground. “Our guys, I thought they did a heck of a job last week. How about Darrel (Williams) doing what he did, not only as a runner, but also as a receiver out of the backfield. Then, young DG (Derrick Gore) steps in and does a heck of a job, scores his first touchdown. Our O-line is doing a heck of a job in the run game, and our guys are doing a great job of finding the seams.

Packers’ Rodgers speaks out: League conducting “a witch hunt” on unvaccinated players | 247sports

https://247sports.com/nfl/green-bay-packers/Article/Packers-Rodgers-speaks-out-League-conducting-a-witch-hunt-on-unvaccinated-players–174572556/

“I’m not some sort of anti-vax flat-earther,” Rodgers said, disputing the claims that haven’t painted him in the most positive of lights this week. Rodgers opted for an alternative method of treatment this past summer prior to the season rather than receiving either one of the Moderna or Pfizer vaccines. His method was rejected by the league, and therefore, he was considered an unvaccinated player — something the league and the Packers have both been fully aware of.

Could Chiefs claim Odell Beckham Jr. on waivers? | yahoo.com

https://sports.yahoo.com/could-chiefs-claim-odell-beckham-162240361.html

Beckham Jr. would typically be owed upwards of $8 million in 2021 upon his release, but as part of that agreement to part ways, the Browns agreed to a contract restructure. This allows the team to take Beckham Jr.’s base salary down to what amounts to a veteran minimum contract by converting the rest of his guaranteed salary into a signing bonus. Technically, Beckham Jr. is under contract through 2023, but those remaining two years are not guaranteed.

Former Chiefs linebacker Tamba Hali will pump up fans on Arrowhead drum deck | fox4kc

Weeks after being inducted into the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame, former Kansas City Chiefs star Tamba Hali will start this Sunday’s game off with a bang.

The six-time Pro-Bowler will be this week’s Drum Honoree on the GEHA Drum Deck as the Chiefs take on the Green Bay Packers.

TO: Nick Saban

if you’d said “this is not how we taught our players at Alabama to be and we do not condone drunk & reckless driving” instead of “thoughts and prayers to Henry Ruggs” you MIGHT be a tiny bit more credible

Henry Ruggs is not a “victim” in this … he is a murderer, plain and simple

11/06/2021 2:17 pm

so, just thinking (which is always dangerous) …

every rookie in the draft gets $1,000,000 signing bonus but no salary (or a coupla mil, whatever) …

… every player gets paid at the END of the season based on his PERFORMANCE (stats, grades, etc etc … there HAS to be a way to make it fair) …

playoff teams of course still get that “bonus” for making it to the dance, and the better you play, obviously (usually) the deeper your team goes and the more you make as a “bonus”

no more $20 Million contracts for guys who end up not playing half a season here and there, missing games yet because of a hangnail (or whatever) … you no play, you no get the pay … kinda like the “real” world that most of us actually inhabit

I think a big part of why the money is so big is because of injuries. Most of these guys are getting injured multiple times and will end up suffering to some degree once they get older. I think you still gotta pay injured guys. The only caveat would be if they injure themselves doing some prohibited activity.

upamtn
Reply to  MasterChief
11/06/2021 3:33 pm

that’s pretty much the deal as it is now … but that seems so incredibly counter-productive to teams … injury is a risk ALL players take when they play in the NFL, it’s part of the job … if you aren’t willing to accept that risk then maybe playing in the NFL isn’t what you should do when you graduate college: go be a banker or a lawyer or chemist or whatever you studied for in college

that’s just my POV though …

EAFOX
Reply to  MasterChief
11/06/2021 3:43 pm

I always thought that injured players should receive 1/2 of their salary and teams should be able to free up some salary cap room to help them find a suitable replacement. ONLY for those officially on IR.

upamtn
Reply to  EAFOX
11/06/2021 5:08 pm

sounds fair enough as far as it goes, but what if a guy is out for the entire season (or most of it) … should he still get half?

see, if it’s literally “performance pay” for what a player actually does on the field, and he’s NOT on the field due to injury, why SHOULD he get pain half of what a healthy player EARNS

let’s say Joe Blow breaks his leg pouring concrete and can’t work for 3 months, he doesn’t get paid for not working (aside from whatever insurance he has) … NFL players (IMNSHO) are no better than anyone else

faceit: these guys are ENTERTAINERS … it’s like a “live action movie” (or All-Star Wrestling or what have you)

my 2 cents

I am pretty sure the guy worked for a food delivery company. I don’t think he was an employee of Popeye’s.

Let’s say the delivery company delivers to 10 other Popeye’s locations that aren’t rat infested. His video post would also hurt the business of the 10 clean locations, because the general public might not go to another Popeye’s for a while.

You just can’t post things on social media that are work related without the company’s authorization.

I copied and pasted this from an email that I received from a parent – we were sharing emails back and forth last night while I was also posting on the open thread. This was her initial response to my email checking on her daughter who had missed two days of school. Not posting this for any kudos but this is an example of why I choose not to retire even though I have been eligible for over eleven years. I cannot contemplate retirement, knowing that there are lost souls out there needing help. How many of us have tried to battle alone against a seemingly uncaring world?

Someone is missing the boat here – Not sure who the blame needs to go to the most – We got rid of Houston and Ford – ridiculous contracts for the production of an aging and an injured player. Fair enough. Traded for Clark – looked good on paper and the injuries have limited Clark for most of his tenure here. Let KPASS go – perhaps a mediocre player but one who possesses some athletic skills. Got rid of Ward who shined in every opportunity thrown his way – untapped pass rush skills – and let go of Taco – who started to shine right before his injury last year. Forgot to mention that we kept Okafor over Ogbah and then resigned Okafor over Taco and Ward. Made a move for Reed – good move on paper but no significant results yet. Moved Jones to DE – a noble experiment that quickly proved to be the wrong move. Passed on signing a pass rusher like Ingram or Houston for a medium sized contract. Eventually had to trade for Ingram – a decent move finally. One immediately wants to blame Veach but is he relying on reports from Andy or from Spags or from the defensive line coach? Who is responsible for this quagmire?

She lost 12 friends to suicide. Now she’s challenging people to give up social media for a month

She had experienced depression and knew that spending time on Twitter, Instagram, or Snapchat tended to make her symptoms worse. She began learning more about social-media companies and eventually came across the documentary “The Social Dilemma,” which talks about the way that app developers use psychology to make people feel dependent on their platforms.

“I felt disgusted when I learned how these app developers use our psychology against us to manipulate us to spend as much time as possible on these apps,” Freeman told Insider.

Social media allows us constant access to those with like minded thoughts. I blame it more than anything for the political division in our country. In regards to those with mental health issues, it becomes a danger when you dwell on your problems. Much easier said than done but the key to success in battling any issue is to focus on the positive and the potential future outcomes.

It will only get worse with…

Deep fakes are, in their most common form, videos where one person’s face has been convincingly replaced by a computer-generated face, which often resembles a second person. … In deep fakes, this means changing one person’s face into another’s, in ways a human editor might not think of or would be unable to detect.

Maybe Rodgers getting Covid right now is kind of lucky for the Packers. He may miss 2 games mid-season, but when he recovers his natural antibodies should protect him from contracting it for a few months.

Raiders CB Damon Arnette sued over alleged hit-and-run car crash
.
The crash allegedly occurred at around 7:29 a.m. on Oct. 14, 2020, with the woman claiming Arnette slammed into her car while traveling around 65 mph.
.
The woman claims that Arnette thought he had missed a turn into the Raiders’ nearby practice facility in Henderson, Nevada, so he swerved into her car while trying to make a right. She claims Arnette then “illegally left the scene of the crash” by going to the Raiders’ practice facility afterwards.
.
Per TMZ, the woman says she suffered several injuries in the accident, including head trauma, and is now dealing with shoulder, neck and back pain as well as depression and panic attacks. Her damages are claimed to exceed $92,000.

She probably consulted with a lawyer right away, and he had her focus on getting healthy while letting the medical bills pile up. That way when he filed there was a large dollar amount already attached to the medical recovery, so the defense can’t argue with how hurt she actually is.

I could see taking a one year look at the man – The lack of talent and/or production from the wide receiver spot is crippling the offense. It would not be a sound strategy to commit to him for more than one year.

I could go for the rest of this season on a prove you can still do it deal.

Yeah – If he becomes a distraction, you can cut him and move on. I am more concerned how he would hold up physically – I know he has been injured for most of the year – I believe the most serious is his shoulder.

Chiefs have $1m in cap space after Ingram signing

But if Chiefs want OBJ they’ll figure out cap challenges

He would have to clear waivers for them to be able to afford him without doing anything drastic

Could be wrong but I expect him to be available.

Correct
Tuesday is waiver

Right now ONLY 9 nfl teams could pay OBJ $8m a year or more. 2 of those teams are. Jags, Eagles,

And I’m pretty sure all of those 9 teams are below or at .500…ha

AND the bottom line is that OBJ is not worth the risk at a high dollar level.

Cap issues are annoying but you are right they are solvable issues.

The “No. 2 receiver by committee” approach they’ve been doing has not produced anything other than dropped passes. We do have Josh Gordon as well, but he’s essentially been non-existent up to this point. I’d take a rental for the remainder of the season just to see what he can do

Exactly – The by committee approach is code words for nobody being good enough to earn the spot. Hardman has skills but is inconsistent in his performance, DRob is an abomination, and I have to question Pringle for his inability to pass either one of those on the depth chart. Not sure what the problem with Gordon might be – Did age and inactivity catch up to him, is there a reason he is taking so long to master any of the routes, has he mentally checked out? I thought he could turn this unit around but the evidence is piling up against him.

Man DRob can’t even run forward, let alone catch a pass. Hardman has done very little outside of punt returns. Pringle is great at making tough catches, but he only shows up a few times per game, so I’m not sure what the deal is there. All of that considered, I’d look at OBJ for a rental, cuz I can’t imagine he’d do any worse.

DRob would be perfect in the remake of Gilligan’s Island in the role of Wrong Way Feldman. Hope you understand that reference. Hardman has looked good on some jet sweeps and the occasional good catch. Does not appear that the coaches believe that Pringle is an upgrade over DRob and Hardman. DRob has definitely hit his ceiling and it is debatable how close Hardman and Pringle might be. We have to do something.
