Good morning, AG!

Today in Chiefs’ history, the dismantling of Municipal Stadium begins in 1976. Josh Gordon (WR, 2021 sort of) was born in 1991

Picture of Josh Gordon’s career. Wait, sorry. That’s the stadium coming down

Elsewhere, in 1997, Tiger Woods becomes the youngest ever golfer to win the Masters Tournament, twelve strokes ahead of runner-up Tom Kite. The margin of victory is, as of 2023, still the largest in the tournament’s history

1970: An oxygen tank explodes on Apollo 13, leaving the spacecraft crippled

1960: The world’s first satellite navigation system is launched. It makes you turn right, go up to the corner and make a U-turn, rather than simply turning left

1949: Christopher Hitchens is born. God does not believe Christopher Hitchens exists

1919: British troops massacre around 400 unarmed civilians in India. Clearly, the civilians were not important enough to even count how many were killed

1906: Samuel Beckett is born. People keep asking him about Ziggy, forcing him to explain over and over, “I’m not THAT Sam Beckett”

1743: Thomas Jefferson is born. God proclaims that there may BE a Thomas Jefferson, but Gods control their own fates and Thomas Jefferson has no place in the affairs of Government since there are so many Thomas Jeffersons to choose from

Ya see, this is why I don’t discuss this subject with you guys. This is the direction it would go every time. You believe what you want, I just feel sorry for you guys. Why? Refer to original quote.

Politics and religion are things many people take personal, which is why I say what I do about them and where they do and don’t belong. other things, like which player you like, your movie or music taste, we have different opinions but usually not taken personally. unless its Kiss.

I totally get why religion is one of those “personal” things … religion defies logic

politics, while it can be “divisive” if differences are taken personally, is an entirely different thing

my 2 cents

When people take things personal, things get more heated. other things are just opinions and easier to discuss. In many places politics and religion are the same thing, or the issues of one are the same as that of the other. so whether you like it or not, they tend to go together from an emotional level.

they tend to go together from an emotional level

they do, but they shouldn’t

it’s worse when the two are combined into one

Ups, I don’t take it personally. As I said, we have the right to our opinions. I don’t consider the opinions of non believers. It’s a waste of time. Just like my opinion is a waste of time for you. Nova can spin his comments in the history section all he wants. I’ve read enough comments around here to know what he meant. My gosh, just the other day I left the open thread because of the direction it went.

Last time I checked, no party rejects God. One just doesn’t let God influence government, which was a founding principle.

Let me clarify. I don’t consider the opinions of non believers regarding this subject. I really enjoy our discussions on most other subjects. I respect everyone here, even our resident pain in the arse.

It was a snarky reply to PAM about mocking the lord because I reject the premise. And because he misrepresented your comments.
I read it as turning the tables on Hitchens (whom I like) and Jefferson, which made me chuckle.

From last night’s OT, that photo from Camp Mahomes – the Welshman is the tallest there, and probably the fastest; and Snafu: 200km NW of Toronto, but growing up in Montreal saw the Alouettes win 2 Grey Cups with HC Marv Levy before he moved on to the Chiefs.
