Good morning, AG!

Today in Chiefs’ history, in 1990 Derrick Thomas sacks Dave Krieg a record 7 times, and somehow the Chiefs lose. I dislike like this fact.

Elsewhere, in 1966, Gemini 12, the last spacecraft in the Gemini series and the first to make an automatically controlled reentry into Earth’s atmosphere, was launched.

1922: Kurt Vonnegut is born

1918: World War I, the war to end all wars, ends. War does not.

1889: Washington was admitted to the union as the 42nd U.S. state.

1885: Gen George Patton is born

1865: For her work as a surgeon during the American Civil War, physician Mary Edwards Walker became the first woman to be granted the U.S. Medal of Honor; the award was rescinded in 1917 but reinstated in 1977 (What pinheads would rescind a Medal of Honor?)

3 biggest Chargers busts halfway through the 2023 season | Boltbeat

Reality does not always meet expectations in the NFL. If there is one fanbase that knows this all too well it is fans of the LA Chargers. Year after year, there are high expectations for the team and players alike and rarely are those expectations met.

ESPN’s Mike Tannenbaum is somehow still picking the Chargers to come back and win the AFC West:

“Even with the Chiefs at 7-2, this is doable for the 4-4 Chargers. I could see quarterback Justin Herbert leading a resurgent L.A. team, surprising the Chiefs with a division-clinching win on the final weekend of the regular season. And if he does that, he’ll wind up in the MVP conversation.”

The Chargers have lost to Miami, Tennessee, Dallas, and us. Here’s their remaining schedule:
vs. Detroit
at Green Bay
vs. Baltimore
at New England
vs. Denver
at Las Vegas
vs. Buffalo
at Denver
vs. Kansas City

Do we really think they’re gonna pull that out of their asses? Beat a bunch of bad teams, sure, but they have to beat good teams too, which they’ve proven they can’t do right now.

I think we have 2 losses left on the schedule.
I don’t think the Chargers are going undefeated.
We will should easily win the division, though the 1 seed might come down to tiebreakers with the Ravens.

Today is Veterans Day, when Americans honor all who have served our country in the armed forces.
..
..
It’s celebrated on November 11 each year because on that morning in 1918 (at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month), the Allied nations and Germany signed an armistice that ended the fighting in World War I.
