Chiefs news for Apr 12, 2024

Good morning, AG!

Today in Chiefs’ history, Mike Garrett (RB, 1966-70, 65 Toss Power Trap runner) was born in 1944

Elsewhere, in 1989, on what turned out to be a bad day for boxing legends, Sugar Ray Robinson, a six-time world champion who was considered by many to have been the best fighter in history, died at age 67

1983: Harold Washington was elected the first African American mayor of Chicago

1981: Joe Louis, world heavyweight boxing champion from 1937 to 1949, died at age 66

1961: Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin became the first human in outer space

1947: David Letterman was born

1945: President Franklin D. Roosevelt died at age 63. While not a boxer himself, FDR once met a boxer, and apparently it was contagious

1861: Fort Sumter, one of the few military installations in the South still in Federal hands, came under fire from Confederate guns in Charleston, South Carolina. It did not end well for anyone

1204: Alexius V, the last Greek emperor of a united Byzantium, fled in the face of the Fourth Crusade. Fourth out of NINE. You’d think after the second or third, they’d take the hint… What’s that? Where did he flee from? Oh, nowhere you’ve heard of…

Time to flee to the news…or maybe from it (Looking at you, Rashee, hiding all the way at the bottom of the news…)

Because I don’t want to post “news” on Rice when nothing new has happened, and that’s all we’re getting right now

More of the same in Houston?

EDIT: And wouldn’t you know, after the Huddle is done, after I made the chippy comment above, Rice does this…

Not sure saying the Civil War did not end well for anyone is the phrase you are looking for. Lots of death but it did produce one very significant outcome.

On this day in 2024 Larch woke up to fog and mist and rain, poured himself a coffee, then another, and opened up the AG MH to find a bucket full of stuff from Nova to ruminate over like a cow out standing in its field. Ya, I got nothing to add, so have a good Red Friday AG.

I’ve owned a Tercel, a Corolla, a RAV4, a Sienna, and a Tacoma (still going great at 290,000 kilometres so… I recommend Toyota.

at work, we do handicap conversions on chevy, ford and RAM. If you are interested in doing 4 wheeling, I would rate them in this order in terms of strength: Chevy, Ford, RAM in a distance 3rd. the steel on the RAM body is almost half the thickness of the GM product. don’t have much experience with the other brands though.

Flying in the face of my own words, I’ll add this for y’all to ruminate over: is Veach more likely to trade up in the first round of the draft, trade out of the first round, or hold steady at the 32nd pick?

Depending on the first 15 picks, up or down. I don’t think they will make the 32nd selection

We are trading up for a LT. If Rice just does what’s right going forward he will be a major contributor come play off time.

He’ll hold steady at 32. Not enough picks to trade up, not enough trade value offered to trade down. IMHO.

My guess is either up or down with a greater likelihood it’ll be down. What would the 32nd overall pick be worth: a 2nd and a 4th round picks? I’m not up on the draft pick comparative valuation math and besides it’s too foggy outside.

who’s this “we” you speak of?

so … just who DO “we” want?

more to the point: which of us “we’s” makes the final decision (we? come on, you know better than that)

yes, it’s true that the editorial “we” (fans) have all kids of opinions on who “we” want … does it matter? (not really)

all good … BV will figure it out … “we” WILL get “someone” and “we” WILL like it

i think the point is that fans can root for their favorite players to be a chiefs pick.

an OT that Veach and Andy love, if he exists

hoping they love a guy even at 32 … for the next several years would be fine by me

FYI: I did ask Veach, left a msg but he hasn’t called me back (yet)

as BRaG would say: trust the process
