He’d performed well in each of the first two preseason games, but Week 3 was icing on the cake. Johnson had seven carries for 39 yards, 2-of-2 receiving for 15 yards, and a 10-yard reception on a screen pass that was called back on a holding penalty. Given that Kenneth Walker has an extensive injury history, having a backup who you’re confident in as a lead back feels vital. Johnson is on that path and should provide the team with a nice 1-2 punch.

We finally get to the regular season and our O-line is looking like a mess. I hope we don’t send Mahomes out there with lousy protection. He’s supposedly coming back from injury in a situation where he is supposed to act like he’s a pocket passer. If he’s out there running for his life again, I’d rather he sit out until the OL can protect him consistently. Without JS and Trey, I don’t think we’re going to be able to do that.
The fact that Veach is giving up draft picks to bring in rookie tackles is disheartening. Not enough cap space to pay for a solid O-line with solid depth. Of course, whatever O-line we have can probably keep Mahomes upright most of the time, but it only takes that one crappy play where he goes down and doesn’t get back up again. What we have available now is quite capable of providing that play. :(
The Olline being a mess is a chiefs tradition.
A “newer” tradition. Alt, Szott, Grunny, Shields and Lutz. Then Rolf, Waters, Weigman, Shields, and Taite. Those were great years!
The offensive line always looks like trash in the preseason.
That running game looks great though and that’s encouraging. I feel like if Simmons plays we will be great up front. If he doesn’t we will struggle. Though the guys we traded for seem like they could work.
For as rough as the line looks. The defense looks promising with Thomas and Woods and Delane.
I think Roland Wallace looks good too. And Hicks.
There are so many positives about this team and the entire world has been talking shit about Mahomes for two years straight and I think he’s going to be other worldly this season.
Especially with the run game improving. Rice is in a contract year which is undefeated (just ask FAU).
This will be a great year.

I like your thinking. I’m still going with my negativity, so that for once I can be surprised in a positive way. Last year was a sucker punch to the gut. I’ll keep my hopes suppressed and hope my negativity is far from warranted. :)

It took us all by surprise. I was actually in his town and was going to meet him for dinner, but he said he wasn’t up to it. the next day he had moved on. he had hinted he had some other stuff going on, and would tell me sometime, but never got around to it. Sad.
I’m so glad we got our talks this summer, but I have a gigantic hole in my heart that will never be filled. I’m sorry for your loss brothers.
FYI – we may wait a bit before posting it – once a few more guys start visiting the site for the regular season, more people will be able to enjoy it! meanwhile, stock up some inventory!
