In other history, in 1977 the worst air crash in history occurs in Tenerife, Spain and 583 people died when two Boeing 747 aircraft collided on the runway; and in 1871 England and Scotland compete in the first international rugby match … born on this date were Mariah Carey (1970), Quentin Tarantino (1963) and Sarah Vaughan (1924)
Who Will the Chiefs Pick in Round 1? | 2023 Mock Draft Roundup 2.0 | Chiefs dot COM
The 2023 NFL Draft will be here before we know it, and as the rest of the league prepares to gather in Kansas City on April 27, the football-watching world is rife with mock drafts and projections as to how the first round will play out.
Here’s a look at who some of the latest mock drafts from around the web have the Chiefs selecting with the No. 31 overall pick on April 27
Who are analysts selecting for Chiefs at pick No. 31? | Chiefs Wire
The Kansas City Chiefs defeated the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LVII with the help of their 2022 NFL draft class. A whopping nine draft picks played snaps, with four drawing starts in the big game.
For Kansas City, the draft will become ever more vital as they get deeper into Patrick Mahomes’ contract. They must continue to find young talent to contribute early in their careers, to keep their window open in a very competitive AFC conference.
Henry Winkler reflects on love from Chiefs Kingdom | KMBC 9
He’s become something of a Chiefs ambassador. EMMY-award winning actor and author Henry Winkler is one of the most public-facing fans! We talk to him about his love for the team—and quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Update on DeAndre Hopkins Trade Destinations | LWOS
Over the past week, the DeAndre Hopkins trade talks ramped up a lot, with the receiver linked to multiple destinations. With weak free agent and rookie receiver classes, Hopkins is one of the few receivers that would immediately elevate a team’s receiving room.
Kansas City Chiefs Trade Rumors On Nick Bosa & Willie Gay + Sign Justin Houston In NFL Free Agency? | Chiefs Report by Chat Sports
Kansas City Chiefs rumors are heating up with 2023 NFL Free Agency well underway. Should the Chiefs trade away linebacker Willie Gay Jr. after signing Drue Tranquill? Chiefs general manager Brett Veach and head coach Andy Reid have roster needs that need to be addressed this offseason. Could Kansas City trade for San Francisco 49ers defensive end Nick Bosa? The 3 x Pro Bowl edge rusher would provide an immediate upgrade at the defensive end position for the Chiefs defense heading into the upcoming 2023 NFL season.
As for where this goes next, I'd say the price will dictate that. Under current circumstances, unlikely KC or Buffalo go get him. If his price drops (both teams offered incentive-heavy deals), then ... maybe.
(Both KC and Buffalo talked directly to Hopkins, and liked him.)

Amid the Lamar Jackson trade request, Ravens coach John Harbaugh is asked if he wishes the QB took a more traditional approach to his contract situation. Harbaugh references a sign that was up in his old boss Andy Reid’s office—“Don’t judge.”
Snapshot: Van Ness racked up 46 pressures, 11 tackles-for-loss and 6.5 sacks in 13 games for the Hawkeyes last season. He then followed up that strong season with a tremendous performance at the NFL Scouting Combine, running the 40-yard dash in 4.58 seconds (at 272 pounds).
Pro Football Focus:“Lukas Van Ness is as strong as they come in terms of pass-rushing ability. Known for his power rush, he was able to generate 46 pressures and nine sacks this past season for the Hawkeyes. He is one of the reasons Iowa had such a dominant defense. Van Ness is also better against the run than most defensive ends in his class, finishing with an 80.9 run-defense grade in 2022. If he can continue to improve his pass-rushing moves, look out for him at the next level.”
Snapshot: Murphy tallied 11 tackles-for-loss and 6.5 sacks in 11 games for the Tigers last season. He recorded 76 pressures over the last two years.
Pro Football Focus:“Murphy is an absolute freak athlete. He has been highly touted ever since high school simply because of his raw physical tools. You will hear a lot of comparisons to Travon Walker for Murphy throughout this draft season. He has that same type of strength and speed combination that NFL teams look for in an edge defender. Murphy definitely has work to do in developing his pass-rushing moves, but he clearly possesses the athletic ability to do it. He recorded 96 total pressures and 20 sacks in his Clemson career.”
Snapshot: A Kansas City native, Anudike-Uzomah attended Lee’s Summit High School before going on to star for the Wildcats. He was the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year in 2022 after leading K-State with 11 tackles-for-loss and 8.5 sacks.
Pro Football Focus:“Anudike-Uzomah was one of the best edge defenders in the country over the past two seasons. He finished 2021 with 13 sacks and 52 total tackles to go along with a 20.7% pass-rush win rate, which earned him an 89.9 grade in that area. Those numbers dipped a little in 2022, but he still generated 46 total pressures and made 34 solo tackles. Anudike-Uzomah has excellent physical traits for a defensive end and is just 21 years old with a lot of room to grow.”
I see the “You can’t call that foul then!” crowd has moved on to the NCAA tourney. Didn’t see it, don’t follow B-ball enough to know if that was a foul or not, but the continued logic that fouls late aren’t the same as fouls early is still laughable.

Felix Anudike-Uzomah – Kansas State

Defense is going to take a big step forward this year.. love watching a good defense play ball…
Big step! Wonder who we draft
Not sure , can’t wait to see tho…
Spring is right around the corner which means the Draft is only 31 days away

looks like he tried the ‘ol hidden hand push in the back trick…
Pushed him with his lower hand in the back while shooting. That’s a foul. Maybe we should let them whack each other in the nuts while shooting?
you can always tell when that happens – they come up short
Of course not! Only in the last 30 sec of the game. Then, it’s…. ROLLERBALL
That’s a foul. Great call to see it
