Chiefs’ free agent DE Melvin Ingram to sign with Dolphins | chiefswire
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo…..Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo !!
The Kansas City Chiefs are losing one of their top remaining free agents to the Miami Dolphins.
According to NFL reporter Jordan Schultz, Melvin Ingram has made his free-agent decision and will sign with the Dolphins. Ingram took a free-agent visit with Miami in mid-April. Kansas City expressed interest in re-signing Ingram, even enacting the rarely used UFA tender on him in early May. Brett Veach said the move would help keep a line of communication open between the two sides.
Unfortunately, Ingram appears to be choosing to move on after playing a combined 12 games with the Chiefs in 2021. His decision also leaves the team with a need in the veteran pass-rusher department.
Ingram first joined the Chiefs midseason in 2021 when the team traded a sixth-round draft pick to the Pittsburgh Steelers. He helped reignite the pass rush in Kansas City, recording 33 pressures and four sacks over the span of nine regular-season games and three postseason games. His contributions completely changed the complexion of a defense that wasn’t looking so great to start the 2021 NFL season.
The only good news here is that the Chiefs had the foresight to use the UFA tender on Ingram. The team using this tender means that Ingram’s contract with Miami will still count toward the compensatory pick formula for Kansas City even though the deadline to qualify has since passed.

Beyond Patrick Mahomes, there are quarterbacks like Joe Burrow, Justin Herbert, Josh Allen and Lamar Jackson who already have elite seasons under their belt in their young careers. Trevor Lawrence, Zach Wilson, Tua Tagovailoa, Mac Jones, Kenny Pickett and Davis Mills round out the AFC’s quarterbacks, and a few of those names have a serious chance to step up this year. The conference also has proven veterans like Derek Carr, Russell Wilson and Matt Ryan.

I don’t beleive this surprised the front office. The Chiefs may see enough progress with Herring and Kaindoh. Herring played in a Georgia defense mainly in a 4 tech position in a heavy rotation. He was not asked to rush the passer as much as occupy blockers and allow the LBers to make plays. Kaindoh has all the requirements for a rush DE, bend, speed, size…his lack of production were due to injuries and to the dysfunctional FSU coaching staff. That dysfunction extended throughout the team coaching staff.
Pro football WINS starts with the offensive & defensive lines. Listen to any professional former or current nfl player. They’ll say the same.
DE starters:
*Frank Clark = smh. Who hasn’t done SHIT since year chiefs won SB.
*Rookie Greek Freak II = too much to put on his shoulders
Anyone still have Tamba Hali, Neil Smith, Jared Allen – cell numbers?? 🙂
BEST AVAILABLE defensive ends:
*Clowney – takes tons of plays off like CLARK
*Flowers – hurt past 2 years
*Houston – former chief
*kerrigan – Greek Freak mentor
What if we moved Chris Jones to the outside?
LOL – Chris Jones is not a DE (refer to last year) 🙂
Just give up after one try? Quitter
What are we to do about Ingram to Miami, RIP? I expect something similar to trading Hill there, albeit on a likewise lesser scale. Team Veach has proven to be capable of finding out of the box solutions to various problems, Ingram himself was one of them, not to mention Butker, et al.
Meanwhile, here’s some positive news on the tech front, a development of AI research that’s providing immediate benefits. I have my doubts as to just how autonomous a machine intelligence could actually become, and even more the emotions we project on their future selves, forgetting that those emotions are driven by emotions that we ourselves know to be driven by non-mechanical means. It makes just as much sense that it would want to be friends, and likely the far better option, after all.

As the artificial intelligence industry booms, we have to remember:
Artificial intelligence is no match for natural stupidity.
