Patrick Mahomes, Chiefs reportedly set NFL record with restructured 4-year, $210.6 million guaranteed deal | yahoo!sports
Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City Chiefs have reached a new, historic, reworked contract.
Mahomes and the Chiefs restructured his massive, 10-year deal, multiple media outlets reported Monday. His new contract will pay him $210.6 million between the 2023 and 2026 seasons, which is the most in NFL history over a four-year span, according to the NFL Networkβs Ian Rapoport. That $210.6 million is fully guaranteed, and the deal could reach as much as $218.1 million by the end if incentives are met.

The Kansas City Chiefs have relied for years on their dynamic offense to rescue their middle-of-the-road defense.
On Sunday, it was the other way around.
Given the makeup of the roster, and the way Patrick Mahomes and Co. have performed in a close loss to the Lions and their 17-9 win over the Jaguars, that could be the norm this season.
The Chiefs have struggled with dropped passes, wide receivers that have been unable to get open, an inconsistent run game and far too many penalties to effectively keep drives alive.

The Kansas City Chiefs only went to running back Isiah Pacheco 12 times in the running game in their Week 2 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, but those carries were effective.
Pacheco averaged 5.8 yards per carry on the day, totaling 70 yards on 12 carries. Those 70 yards included a 31-yard rush that helped set up a touchdown for the Chiefs.
After the game, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes had high praise for the second-year running back.

Jaguars’ Trevor Lawrence Has a Message Following Loss to Chiefs | Sports Illustrated

Week 2 was far from ideal for Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
For the second time in 21 starts under Doug Pederson, Lawrence and the offense failed to score a touchdown, dropping to 1-1 after a 17-9 loss at home to the Kansas City Chiefs.
On Monday, Lawrence shared a message on Twitter to express that, as bad as the loss was, the sky isn’t yet falling in Jacksonville.

On the Friday night before Super Bowl LVII, Patrick Mahomesβs agent Chris Cabott texted the Chiefs, nudging them on the idea of redoing the transcendent quarterbackβs contract.
The response: In 48 hours, Mahomes would be a champion again, and at that point the team would work through all the βwonderfulnessβ that comes with that. Sure enough, the 27-year-old held up his end of the bargain, outgunning the Eagles in a wild Super Bowl shootout to win his second ring. And seven months later, the team has fulfilled its side of a promise that, everyone hopes, will lead to Mahomes being a Chief for the rest of his career.

Andy Reid says Chiefs ‘can fix’ Jawaan Taylor’s penalty woes | ESPN
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38432497/andy-reid-says-chiefs-fix-jawaan-taylor-penalty-woes
Kansas City Chiefs offensive tackle Jawaan Taylor has been known since entering the NFL for his kick-step, a maneuver that can at least make it appear he’s releasing from his pre-snap stance early.
But Taylor has never had a game like he had on Sunday, when he was penalized five times against his former team, the Jacksonville Jaguars. As a result, Chiefs coach Andy Reid suggested Taylor will have to change his methods.

I’m so happy with our defense. Two TDs allowed through 2 games is awesome.
Who would have thought that the D would be the high point of this team through the first two games?
Me !!
I meant OTHER than you

Bar surrender says, there’s a steering wheel on your zipper.
Guy says, arrgh, I know. It’s driving me nuts!
I miss Bienemy and Brown. Offense has looked pretty mediocre without them so far
Nagy isn’t dropping passes and doesn’t have Juju.
Re: BKS’ Post ;
IMHO :
Nope & Hell Nope !
Our OC is Reid’s Hand Puppet …
& Brown was Ranked as the WORST O-Lineman Through the Majority of the Year last Year …
I donβt think it our offensive woes have anything to do with them. Correlation is not causation. People forget how young WR room is. Even KT is only a 3rd year player, and is not like heβs had a shit ton of playing time. They are just not 100% in sync with Patrick at the moment. This is only the second game of the season, so sky is far from falling. Take a deep breath and remember we have one of the greatest HC/QB combos of all time. Things will get better. Just a matter of time
Always love when you stop by and drop some knowledgeβ¦ Iβm thinking this Sunday the boys can build some confidence playing the Bears , and clean up some of the mistakesβ¦
Agreed. This should be a “get back on track” game for the offense.
Those scare me. We have a nasty habit of playing to the competition
You should go to the game Sunday and straighten them up…….
… of the moon?
You rang?
Saw these guys 3 weeks ago. Very interesting and unexpected.
Racist π
Not in the script
Context was perfect though.
Yes it was. A perfect ab lib by Wilder.
“WORLD CHAMPIONS”
Even on Tuesdayβ¦β¦ have a great day Kingdom..
Does Mahomes contract do anything for freeing up money to help sign Jones?
I wanna know does it clear space to extend C and RG …
I get the impression that this move has nothing to do with freeing up money and everything to do with making sure Mahomes never leaves KC.
I can’t believe that Veach would do this and not free up money somehow
Start working on your belief structure then. It actually increases the cap hit for the next few years. (And then the next renegotiation will continue the trend)
Mahomes Trek: The Next Regeneration
Chiefs offense just looks sloppy. I think reid gets this shit figured out and we start humming again in the next couple of weeks.
