Chiefs’ Travis Kelce’s touchdown gets Taylor Swift-inspired announcer call | Fox NEWS
https://www.foxnews.com/sports/chiefs-travis-kelces-touchdown-taylor-swift-inspired-announcer-call
Kansas City Chiefs star tight end Travis Kelce was back on the field Sunday, and of course, Patrick Mahomes used him to score a touchdown in the teamβs win against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
And CBS announcer Ian Eagle used that score by Kelce, his first of the season after missing Week 1 due to a knee injury, to make a reference to the tight endβs rumored relationship with Taylor Swift.
Chiefs’ Jawaan Taylor penalized five times vs. Jaguars after being scrutinized for alignment in Week 1| CBS Sports
https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/chiefs-jawaan-taylor-penalized-five-times-vs-jaguars-after-being-scrutinized-for-alignment-in-week-1/
The Kansas City Chiefs signed former Jacksonville Jaguars right tackle Jawaan Taylor to an $80 million contract this offseason, and he’s made a considerable amount of headlines through two weeks with his new team.
Taylor became a national storyline in the NFL season opener, when he lined up off the line of scrimmage multiple times against the Detroit Lions, and appeared to jump early on several plays. Taylor wasn’t penalized for most of these violations, but the NFL was clearly on the look out for his activity in Week 2.
Chiefs’ cap issues make tag for Chris Jones unlikely, sources say | ESPN
https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38414514/chiefs-cap-issues-make-tag-chris-jones-unlikely-sources-say
Kansas City’s revised agreement with Jones that was reached Monday did not include a provision that prevents the Chiefs from using their franchise tag on the All-Pro defensive tackle, sources said. But the Chiefs’ 2024 salary cap situation is expected to prevent them from tagging Jones anyway.
If the Chiefs were to tag Jones after the season, the price tag would be expected to be about $32 million. Kansas City also is projected to be right at the salary cap when the new league year starts in 2024, so it would be incredibly challenging, if not impossible, to clear out the corresponding room to tag Jones, based on a review of their contractual obligations. The Chiefs would have to release or restructure the contracts of too many players to be able to tag Jones.
KC Chiefs DT Chris Jones Returns With βSpecialβ Performance in 2023 Debut | Sports Illustrated
The Kansas City Chiefs got a couple of extra helpers back for their Week 2 outing against the Jacksonville Jaguars: tight end Travis Kelce and defensive tackle Chris Jones. While the former undoubtedly played a significant role in the win, it was the latter who emerged as the club’s best defensive player after firmly establishing himself as exactly that in recent seasons.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes comments on OT Jawaan Taylorβs penalties vs. Jaguars
Sundayβs victory for the Kansas City Chiefs was a much-needed team performance that relied on all facets of the game to get the job done. The game wasnβt smooth by any means as the defending champs committed various penalties that held them back, four from right tackle Jawaan Taylor alone.

Chiefs restructure Mahomes deal. $210mil over 4 years. Haven’t seen how much cap we cleared for this seaaon
My first thought was about Chris Jones and the next few years. Yeah – no details about salary cap yet.
just saw this. pretty slick… https://www.yahoo.com/sports/patriots-devise-awesome-plan-to-block-a-field-goal-and-it-works-023251868.html
Saw that last night simply delaying the snap will negate it but it is clever
We knew this wasn’t going to be easy. Our team is the team to beat (not the jags SC π). It’s funny listening to the pundits grasping at straws to find some other team. Very entertaining. Our guys have nowhere to go but up. The defense has held the line while the offense is working out some bugs. If the D can maintain this type of play, the rest of the NFL is screwed.
Why is it that I cannot find specific highlight reals for Defense? It’s like I found a void in reality itself.
The D is real as long as they all stay healthy.
Is this defense for real?! They’ve won 2 games. The offense can’t get out of its own way right now. 40 points coming soon lol
usually our defense is bad until about mid year, and then gets above average. This year its off and running. heck, against the lions they’d have held them to 7 points except the special teams let them continue their drive. This would mean in the first two games they kept some good offenses below 10 points.
I know, I keep wondering who these guys are … Spags got ’em dialed in
I think its a bunch of young talent getting it figured out.
Good LBs. Good CBs. When’s the last time we had 3 good LBs?
The last time I remember was in the Schottenheimer days, circa 1997(?), when we had Derrick Thomas, Donnie Edwards, and Anthony Davis/Tracy Simien holding things down. (That third LB may have been good by association, i.e., good because the other two were fantastic.)
We have four good linebackers – Bolton, Gay, Chenal, and Tranquil.
Meh, defense had plenty of chances to stop them after the fake punt.
That’s a big momentum thing. Hard to get right after a huge let down like that

Team gonna regret not paying Jones and Brown, I fear
They tried to pay Jones. He wouldnβt take it. Brown on the other hand we didnβt want. And no we wonβt miss him either
The gap between Jones and the team per reports was too close to have stood ground on both their accounts. Needed a compromise
Watching these OTs and saying you don’t miss Brown is a joke, and not a good one.
I don’t miss brown or wiley. They weren’t good.
From what I understand the biggest hang up was that the chiefs refused to rip up the old contract, like LA did with AD. And from what I know, so take this with a grain of salt, that has cap repercussions. Canβt fault the team refusing to put themselves in cap hell just so they could pay a player today.
We tried to pay Brown too before last year.
Didn’t he end up with less than we originally offered?
what Leaf said times 100
Brown is a key contributor to the Bengals being 0-2.
Donovan Smith has played about as well as Brown did, but we are paying him for only this year.
Taylor just has to adjust to how the officials are going to be eyeballing him. Line up correctly first and foremost. The timing of the snap will be difficult to adjust, but once he does the officials eyes won’t be on him every snap. He was unfairly made an example of, and we need to realize there will be an adjustment period.
Maybe he was, but everyone should have seen it coming (I did). No way they were going to let him do that after all the talk about it last week. They should have adjusted during the week or at least after the first call yesterday.
Who says they didnβt? Oline is all about timing, and Taylor has his ripped away so he has to figure things out. Canβt fault a guy for not completely erasing years of technique development in one week.
Well, the Refs, for starters….
Unfairly??? In what world was he not the reason the refs were eyeing this specifically this week?
Remember that Taylor has been factually terrible until last year. His first 3 years, he was one of the very worst RTs in the league. If he “improved” bc of this lining up way too deep and jumping the snap/false starting, this was a major mistake signing him to this deal.
And no, Brown has been exactly what he’s always been. The RT is the problem in Cincy. Just read the fan blogs. Not a mention of Brown
Try watching the bengals games instead of relying on hearsay. Brown is horrible.
I have watched the Bengals games (not every minute, but at least 80%). He’s significantly better than Smith and no worse than Taylor without the penalties and alignment concerns
Brown & Wiley or Smith & Taylor.
Probably similar floors. I still think we have a higher ceiling with Taylor. I’ve seen Brown’s ceiling. It’s not great. Not horrible. But not great. Definitely not worth paying him as the top LT in the league.
I’ll concur similar floors. I’m not as high on the ceiling of Taylor obviously, but I hope I’m wrong.
Jags fans will tell you he was doing that his rookie year, so that isnβt the catalyst.
One of PM to Watson’s deep passes early in the 3rd, it was a play that set up the Kelce TD. Anyway, our RT did just fine on the play it’s at 1:32 on this highlight.
