Happy Friday AG. Maybe today we’ll get to draft someone… Not much going on Chiefs-wise, seem like everyone’s all excited about something called a draft that happened last night.

Got me thinking because it seems like we always draft a WR every year so heres our list since 2010

Dexter McCluster
Jonathan Baldwin
Devin Wylie
Junior Hemingway
Chris Conley
Da’Ron Brown
Demarcus Robinson
Tyreek Hill
Jehu Chesson
Tremon Smith
Mecole Hardman
Likely one in 2021

Outside of Hill and MAYBE Hardman, not a lot of good in our list either

It’s like those cartoons where the short sidekick is always trying to hang out with the normal sized protagonist.

Couple of olineman and a cb from the other AFC west teams. Seems like the Raiders reached the most.

Donkeys are the most intriguing team to me. Hate to admit it but Elways picks the last couple years have been pretty good. His FA pick ups have been awful for the most part but now its all pretty much on Lock’s shoulders.

Yeah, but the Raiders wanted him as a OG, and I don’t know if others did.

True. Question is could they have picked him up in the 2nd round? Or traded back and still drafted him?

Valid questions. They obviously liked him and decided to just make the move. Still a better pick (on its face) than Speaks. LOL

I think the Raiders are going to be really fun to watch this year.

By that I mean go buy some marshmallows to toast on that dumpster fire.

I honestly thought the Broncos were gonna draft Justin Fields…their pick of Surtain II, imo, didn’t do much to help them

There is some really weird dissonance in that reporting though. Klis has said there have been no conversations and I’ve gathered from Broncos fans that he typically does a good job covering the team.

meanwhile Schlereth and others said they were hearing it was a done deal already. Guessing since its 20 hours later and still no news Im guessing just Denver fans getting their hopes up thinking all great QBs will come to Denver

Any guesses on who that maybe ?

I can see us shoring up the D tonight with both picks. Edge & CB maybe.

There’s a lot of talent left for us. I hope we stay put and get 2 talents instead of trading up and only getting one.

Upvoted, I agree 100%. Not sure which positions to go for, I know you and others have been banging the drum for a WR and I’ve come around to that way of thinking. I’d really like to see us get a LB or maybe an Edge. TE needs to be in there also but I don’t know whether that would be best value in round 2. Two thoughts: the Colts picked a DE last night so is Justin Houston definitely on the way out and would he be a fit back with the Chiefs? And what with L’Jarius Sneed doing so well a forgotten guy is BoPete Keyes – I wonder what the expectations are for him and does this lower CB as a priority?

Yeah, from what I remember reading, both the Colts and Ravens were interested in Justin Houston. And both drafted DE’s last night. I’d be on board with bringing Houston back. It would certainly give us added flexibility with our selections.

Houston is definitely a fit scheme- and talent-wise. I just don’t see it working out due to the history there though.

Keyes could surprise us. I’m willing to be surprised, unless someone like Asante Samuel II falls down to #58.

I would like a WR, yeah, because this is supposedly a deep WR draft. And while replacing Sammy may or may not be a need, having another WR in the room to learn the system could be better for next year when D-Rob probably leaves.

That said, I think you can find good WRs in the 4th or 5th rd. I’m open to all kinds of positions – even RB, if they’re good and can help us for years.

Two picks I really liked from last night: OT Penei Sewell to the Lions and Micah Parsons to the Cowboys. Tooting my own horn: I was ready to pick Mac Jones for the Pats but Gonz nabbed him for the Donks. We get real excitement tonight, go Veach, go Chiefs, and have a good red friday AG.

I’m generally not a big fan of taking a LB high in the draft (same with RBs). Parsons will make an immediate impact for Dallas though – incredible athlete and speed to the ball.

I don’t get what seems to be a devaluation of LBs these days. IMHO they’re just as important as DL and the secondary. But then we now have Edge as a separate category and defensive schemes have become so varied and hybridized. Or maybe it’s just that there are many more good LB’s coming out of college compared to the other positions.
