Let’s get to the news.
Trade Proposal Sends Chiefs RB to Former KC Coach for Draft Pick | Heavy
In a May 31 article, Moton lists seven post-June 1 moves that NFL teams should make before training camp. Among those is a scenario in which the Chiefs trade Edwards-Helaire to the New York Giants. Moton thinks CEH could be an insurance policy for running back Saquon Barkley, who is currently in a contract dispute with the Giants.
How Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs learned to beat the two-deep revolution | Yahoo! Sports
https://sports.yahoo.com/patrick-mahomes-chiefs-learned-beat-100119758.html
Last season, Mahomes faced some kind of two-deep coverage on 261 of his dropbacks, which ranked eighth in the league β Cincinnatiβs Joe Burrow had the most two-high dropbacks with 374 β and he beat it better and more often than anybody else. Mahomes completed 165 of 230 passes for 2,155 yards, 1,275 air yards, nine touchdowns, five interceptions, a league-best passer rating of 104.5, and a league-best EPA of 62.82. Mahomesβ EPA against two-deep coverage wasnβt just the NFLβs best; it was the NFLβs best by a huge margin. Buffaloβs Josh Allen ranked second in EPA against two-high coverage at 36.19. so that tells you how far ahead Mahomes is in this particular discussion.
‘It’s taking strategy out’: Chiefs special teams coordinator Dave Toub reacts to new fair catch rule | KSHB
“I just think (the fair-catch rule) will take the strategy out of special teams,” Toub said Thursday as the Chiefs wrapped up the second week of OTAs. “If you’re a team that is trying to get back into the game and you’re on kickoff, trying to pin the team close to their end zone or create a turnover, one big strategy was have the kicker kick the ball high and potentially force the return team to make a mistake. They can just now fair catch it and get the ball at the 25-yard line every time. It was a big strategic thing that was taken away from us as special team coaches.”
From Kansas City to Frankfurt: A Kingdom That Spans 5,000 Miles | Chiefs.com
https://www.chiefs.com/news/from-kansas-city-to-frankfurt-a-kingdom-that-spans-5-000-miles
It’s nearly 5,000 miles from Kansas City, but as I came to quickly understand, these two otherwise completely different places share one somewhat surprising commonality: the presence of the Kansas City Chiefs, and in the case of Frankfurt, an exponentially growing interest in the reigning Super Bowl champions.
Chiefs DC Steve Spagnuolo says secondary is ‘light-years ahead’ of last season | ChiefsWire
In 2022, the Chiefs added a number of rookies and new veterans, featuring players like Trent McDuffie, Joshua Williams, Jaylen Watson and Justin Reid. Heading into 2023, it seems that group of players has a much better grasp of the system than they had during their championship season.
Matt Nagy explains why he believes Kadarius Toney can be Chiefs’ No. 1 wide receiverv | ChiefsWire
βWell, I think we all see what he can do when the football is in his hands,β Nagy said of Toney. βAgain, the same type of deal. He comes in halfway through the season, itβs a whole new offense that he has to learn the ins and outs (of). So, you have that point, and he was able to do that. Itβs exciting now for us to be able to take that to year two and build that relationship with Pat (Mahomes). But heβs super-talented with the football in his hands and heβs been that way his entire life in his football career.β

WATCH: Chiefs show Patrick Mahomes connecting with young receivers during OTAs | ChiefsWire
βI like what I see,β Reid said of his impression of Moore at the Chiefsβ offseason program. βHeβs getting strong (and) you can tell that heβs worked this offseason. He was down there with Pat (Mahomes) the whole time and never missed a day with him, so heβs done a good job. (He has a) better understanding.β

2023 Scripps National Spelling Bee Winning Moment
From yesterdayβs MH I read the ChiefsWire article projecting the final 53 to start this season. They had 10 OL and 6 WR. Iβm thinking itβs more likely to be 9 & 7. Not sure whether Niang or Kinnard will stick, Iβm guessing Wanya Morris is more likely to make it. This may be it for Niang, the FA signings seem to make that clear.
Larch, it’s nice to have a football guy here. thank you
I think Niang is going to be our swing tackle.
I think he’s on the outside looking in.
Alegretti and Kinnard are Guards, Morris may or may not be pro ready, Wanogho is also a swing tackle iirc, seems to leave the door open for Niang to be that primary backup tackle. BTW: is Reiter still on the roster as backup centre?
No to Reiter
I think Wanogho was swing when Niang was injured. Pre-injury Niang was played at both tackle positions
