Good morning AG!
Today in Chiefs’ history:
Harrison Butker signed off the Carolina Panthers’ practice squad in 2017; happy birthday to AG user Starry1
Some other stuff may have happened:
In 1820, American frontiersman and hero Daniel Boone died in St. Charles, Missouri.
In 1898 George Gershwin, popular American composer, was born in Brooklyn, New York.
In 1969, Abbey Road was released; though the album was their penultimate (with Let It Be released in 1970), Abbey Road was the last album recorded by the Beatles.
Also on this date in 1969, TV audiences were introduced to a man named Brady when The Brady Bunch made its premiere on ABC.
The news.

Kenneth Walker’s Message Leaves Chiefs with Tough Call to Make After Two Games | The Big Lead
Looking back at the first two weeks of the Chiefs’ 2026 campaign, it stands in stark contrast to where we ended things last year. And a big reason for that is Super Bowl MVP Kenneth Walker III, who through two weeks has amassed 56 touches, gaining 369 total yards (including two back-to-back games with at least 100 yards on the ground) and two touchdowns. Walker stands currently as one of the league’s most productive rushers.
Luckily for Chiefs fans, Walker shows no desire to slow down; the back, who is currently second in the league in rushing attempts, plans to seize every opportunity the Chiefs throw (or hand off, as the case may be) his way.
But such a prolific rushing attack does come with a question: how often should the Chiefs sub in Emmett Johnson? While it’s easy to keep feeding the rock to Walker, Johnson is turning in quite the rookie showing, to the tune of 14 touches for 103 yards through two games.
Kansas City Chiefs DC Steve Spagnuolo is Zeroed in on Dolphins RB De’Von Achane | Heavy.com
The best player currently suiting up for the Fish Eaters (h/t 3rdnLong) is probably fourth-year RB De’Von Achane, who possesses lightning speed and is coming off a career year with 1,350 yards on the ground in 2025. “With this team,” Spagnuolo said, “the focus first has to be on the running back. I think this back is legit. He’s the guy that can wreck the game because of his speed and where he can go. So, we’ve been heavy into stopping that.”
Notably, the Chiefs defense had issues stopping the Colts’ running game, with Jonathan Taylor running for 132 yards against the Chiefs squad and finding the end zone twice.
Miami ranks 26th in total offense through the NFL’s first two weeks, and Achane has been off to a rocky 2026 thus far. The time is now for the Chiefs defense to s how that last week was an unfortunate aberration and not the status quo.
Former NFL Star Points Out Indianapolis’ Colts Mistake in Loss to Chiefs | Gridiron Heroics
In the usual “ignoring-the-Chiefs-success”-type talk that we get from NFL talking heads, Robert Griffin III has alluded to the Colts’ decision to open overtime on defense as a significant reason why the team fell in Kansas City. Though the Chiefs were held to a field goal, Indianapolis was unable to capitalize on the subsequent drive, leaving the game in the hands of the Chiefs.
Patrick Mahomes Sends Team Strong Warning After Critics Change Tune | Heavy.com
“All offseason,” Mahomes told his teammates in the locker room, “we heard about how bad we were. How can you keep that hunger now that everyone is praising you, telling you you’re great?” Mahomes was addressing the team after dealing with their 2025 campaign, hoping that they keep that hunger to get better and prov the doubters wrong. He is also advising against complacency against a somewhat easier stretch of their schedule: their next two games are against the Dolphins and an OakVegas team whose record is better than they are.
“We’re nowhere near where we want to be,” Mahomes added. “You have to go out and have that mentality if you want to have success.”
Chiefs Announce 12 Injury Updates Before Dolphins Game | Heavy.com
In news that should surprise no one, Josh Simmons has been ruled out for Sunday’s contest against the Dolphins.
In less discouraging news, it’s looking likely that Mansoor Delane will be back in action on Sunday, after being injured in his Week 1 heroic snagging of an interception.
Chamarri Conner, while still doubtful for Sunday’s game at Hard Rock Stadium, has worked his way back into practice – albeit in a limited capacity – after dealing with a knee injury. He should be back in a couple of weeks, either the week before the (stupidly early) Week 5 bye or the week following.
That should be everything, Chiefs fans! Enjoy your weekend, and may your college teams all win today – unless one of those teams is Ohio State, in which case, may the Buckeyes be roundly defeated in spectacular and humiliating fashion.
Don’t forget, you can catch Mitch Holthus and Danan Hughes – the best in the business – on the Chiefs Radio Network come game day. Unless you’re one of those people who prefers lackluster, schlocky TV commentary of course…
And as always, go Chiefs!

Morning Bowl of (T)Weeties:
Nothing’s gonna silence my beliefs, I won’t apologize. I won’t apologize! I! WON’T! APOLOGIZE!
All of your bricks didn’t build it, and none of your doubts ever break it.
لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا يَهْوَهُ وَلَا مَلِكُ إِلَّا يَسُوْعُ وَلَا سَيِّدُ إِلَا ٱلرُّوْحُ ٱلْقُدُّس

Thanks for the huddle. Anyone doing anything exciting? I have the joy of doing chores, and Purdue getting beat up by Notre Dame.
Some chores, some writing, helping a friend later on out of town.
Last night, though, my wife and I saw “Coyote vs. Acme.” It was a good movie and I laughed a good amount.
Morning Nas!
So, I saw the headline about K9 and the Chiefs having to make a tough decision, and my mind immediately freaked out. Was he wanting to touch the ball LESS? Was he tired of being the workhorse, and now the coaches would have to figure out how to replace him?
No. It was just clickbait. He loves pounding the ball and wants to run (or catch) any opportunity he can. But, so does every true player. And that also includes the rook Emmett Johnson.
Thankfully, the tough decision is when to allow Emmett Johnson to run.
yeh, I thought the same thing when I saw it.
