Chiefs news for 11 October 2020
With the new injured reserve rules, Danna will miss a minimum of three weeks before he’s able to return to action. NFL teams are allowed to bring back an unlimited number of players from injured reserve this season. CB Bashaud Breeland has been activated. DE Mike Danna has been placed on Injured Reserve.
According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, a Chiefs’ strength and conditioning coach has tested positive for COVID-19. While the coach remained unnamed in the report, the Chiefs have four coaches listed on their strength and conditioning coaching roster: Head strength and conditioning coach Barry Rubin and his assistants Travis Crittenden and Greg Carbin. There is also Ryan Reynolds, who holds the title of sports science and conditioning coach.
Scott Loring: Chiefs 41, Raiders 21 The Raiders are a great opponent for any team that might have any offensive frustrations. They tackle worse than the Chiefs do (47 missed tackles through four games) and they have a horrible time getting to the quarterback. They’ve also struggled a lot covering kickoffs and punts this season, allowing 27.1 yards per kick return, and 19.5 yards per punt return. Las Vegas has given up 30 points per game in 2020, including a league-leading 8 rushing touchdowns. Kansas City typically plays weird games, but I expect them to put this one away by halftime. The Chiefs could score 50 points if they wanted to.
The Chiefs led the Raiders the entire time, taking a 17-3 lead into the locker room at half time and that forced Vegas to air the ball out more, as you can see from Carr’s numbers here. He has struggled at Arrowhead, so him putting up these kind of numbers would definitely make this his best game in Kansas City. This whole sim is pretty hilarious because Agholor going for over 150 yards against what’s been a pretty good Chiefs secondary just seems unrealistic. But, stranger things have happened.
He will help a secondary that lost L’Jarius Sneed to a broken collarbone in Week Three. “It was a time for me to really work on myself, put the past behind me and really focus on what I can bring to this team this year to help us get back to the Super Bowl,” Breeland said of his suspension, via Nate Taylor of TheAthletic.com. “It takes time to really get in football condition, but I’ve been working out throughout these four weeks. I’m just ready to plug in whenever they’re ready for me to plug in.”
Player props Clyde Edwards-Helaire total rushing yards: Over 75.5 (-115). The rookie has yet to rush for more than 64 yards in each of the past three weeks, but it feels like he’s ready to break out. We have seen over the past few games that Andy Reid gives him carry after carry when the Chiefs get out to an early lead, and that’s something that could happen on Sunday.
Clyde Edwards-Helaire total receiving yards: Over 25.5 (-115). This prop surprised me since Edwards-Helaire has surpassed 26 receiving yards in each of the last three games. The Raiders will certainly be worried about Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce stretching the field, so that opens up Edwards-Helaire to slip underneath. Plus, let’s be real — it’s possible he could clear the Over here with just one or two catches.

Game Time Sunday, Oct. 11, 2020 at 12:00 pm CT on CBS. Location Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo. Forecast High: 85° | Low: 57°
• The Chiefs and Raiders will clash on Sunday in what marks the 120th regular-season meeting between these two historic franchises. Kansas City has won five straight over the Raiders and 11 of the last 12 matchups between the two teams.
• Kansas City holds a 65-52-2 all-time advantage over the Raiders in the regular season, including a 29-19 mark at Arrowhead Stadium. With a victory on Sunday, the Chiefs would tally their 66th all-time victory over the Raiders – the most regular-season wins over a single opponent in franchise history.
• Chiefs’ Head Coach Andy Reid and Raiders’ Head Coach Jon Gruden have met on nine occasions as opposing head coaches, with Reid winning five of those matchups. Since Gruden returned to the Raiders in 2018, Reid is 4-0.
We know they have the talent, but now it looks as though it’s all coming together for the Cleveland Browns, who have averaged 39.3 points per game in three consecutive victories and turned the ball over just once in that span. Third-year quarterback Baker Mayfield is loaded with weapons and is better supported now that solid veteran Jack Conklin is manning the right tackle spot and the competent Kevin Stefanski has replaced Freddie Kitchens to oversee the offense.
Meanwhile, fourth-year edge-rusher Myles Garrett has been the most dominant defensive player in football. The 2017 No. 1 overall pick is the only player with five sacks and three forced fumbles.
