Five things to know about the Chiefs’ next opponent: Los Angeles Chargers | KCStar

In Sunday’s 16-13 win over the Bengals, Taylor completed 16 of 30 passes for 208 yards. He ran six times for just 7 yards.

Rookie Joshua Kelley had 60 yards in 12 carries (5.0 ypc) and the Chargers’ only touchdown. Kelley, who was taken in the fourth round, also broke open a 26-yard run.

A shoulder injury left star receiver Michael Williams’ status for the opener in doubt in the days leading up to the game. But he played and was targeted a team-high nine times with four catches for 69 yards.

The Chargers had three sacks, five tackles for loss, six quarterback hits and a forced fumble on Sunday. Also, defensive lineman Melvin Ingram intercepted a shovel pass from the Bengals’ Joe Burrow that stopped a late drive with LA up by three.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid details travel changes ahead of first road game | ChiefsWire

“Yeah, so you can’t leave the hotel,” Reid told reporters. “So, we’ll leave a little bit later, get to the hotel a little bit later, and then we won’t have the individual meetings we normally have out there. But we’ll be able to knock out our team meeting, then grab a bite to eat and get on with the evening. So, we’ll spend a little bit more time here with our morning meetings and get those done.”Patrick Mahomes: Proposing to Girlfriend More Nerve-Wracking Than Super Bowl

Patrick Mahomes: Proposing to Girlfriend More Nerve-Wracking Than Super Bowl | B/R

Question: “What’s more nervous, fourth quarter of the Super Bowl or finally proposing to your longtime girlfriend?

Mahomes: “Probably proposing, I would say. You don’t think it’s going to be nerve-wracking, especially when you’ve been with someone for so long. But before you get on that knee, your heart is racing, I promise you that.”

Andy Reid Explains Clyde Edwards-Helaire’s Heavy Usage in Win Over Houston Texans | SI.com

“We wanted to kind of get the run game going, is what we wanted to do,” Reid said. “Especially with a younger back, I think that was important to get him used to the speed of the game. But at the same time, you want production. You’re striving to put points on the board. So, a little bit of everything there that you mentioned — yeah, part of it was we got in there and it was working so we stuck to it. On the other hand, it was also good to get our young back some carries and experience, which I thought was important.”

Chiefs offensive line dominates and other overlooked aspects of Week 1 | AA

In addition to their effectiveness in the passing game, the Chiefs run game also dominated. Clyde Edwards-Helaire started his NFL career with 25 carries for 138 yards and a touchdown, while Darrel Williams grabbed another 23. This largely had to do with the blocking up front by the Chiefs offensive line, who were finding their way four or five yards down the field almost every time CEH touched the ball. Left guard Kelechi Osmele especially has gotten quite a bit of credit for controlling any play in front of him.

Austin Reiter has sore knee for Kansas City Chiefs | AA

If Reiter is unable to play on Sunday, the Chiefs have several options at their disposal, depending on how comfortable they feel with a lack of experience. Nick Allegretti was the team’s seventh round choice last year but played only 8 offensive snaps in 7 games for the Chiefs. He does, however, come with significant starting experience from years at center at the University of Illinois.

Here’s the latest on that fractured hand suffered by Chiefs cornerback Charvarius Ward | KCStar

“He had some work done on it,” Reid said Monday. “We’ll just see where he’s at when it’s by game time. … We’ve just got to see how it feels.” Reid didn’t divulge specifically what was done with Ward’s injury. But the head coach made it clear the Chiefs will closely monitor Ward in the days leading to Sunday’s game before determining his availability.

From @gmfb Weekend: #Cowboys DE Aldon Smith is providing inspiration for players who have been out of the league a while. And I blew through @CodyWins25's stop sign in my ear to note #Bears RB Tarik Cohen could have himself a contract extension soon.

The @steelers drafted him 15th overall out of Ohio State back in 2014.

The tweet about “not their best game offensively” is short sighted at best. It was the CEH show. Game was in hand, didn’t need gaudy stats or a 50 burger, and it was there for the taking. Andy always takes his foot off the gas. There was no need to embarrass the Texans, BoB did it well enough on his own.

It was a long night but watching the donkeys get their hearts ripped out was worth it.

I think they have a pretty solid team, with some issues on the Offensive Line. But I think their coach is going to hold them back. From what I’ve seen of him over the last season to now, he’s another one of the guys who should stay a DC and not an HC.

Solid team on paper. They’re this year’s Browns.

The more I watch the more I realize just how thin the PK position is in the NFL. Some day we may look back and list nabbing Buttkicker.com as one of John Dorsey’s 5 best moves. Probably not.

Santos was actually pretty good with us (not butker good, but still pretty good). The doink game is also the stuff of chiefs legend.

First Brazilian NFL player. I’ll give him some love during Hispanic Heritage month.

🤔

Never thought about it this thoroughly before.

Oh well, since there is no Latino Heritage month or Hiportugesic Heritage month, I’ll let my comment stand, weird as it may be.

Eh, the transition from St John to BV was abrupt and muddied. It’s easy to confuse events from that time.

Also to note, while it has nothing to do with GMs, is how good Toub must be in evaluating PKs and punters. It has been said that he picked out Butker as the best kicker in that draft. And he picked out Townsend as the best punter in The 20/20 draft.

4 HC on the Chiefs staff. Well, EB will be and Toub should be.
