I would be surprised to see the Chiefs add an older receiver. Granted, our receivers are young and have some question marks, but I expect to see more RBs and TEs split out – reducing the need for receiver depth, and I would not be surprised to see us draft either a really fast WR or one of the TEs – the draft is one of the best in the quality of TEs.

already have Fortson, Gray and Bell (to go with kelce) but a draftee TE wouldn’t be a huge shock …

see if OT and DE or DT avail at top, then go pretty much BPA (WR, RB, TE, etc) … you can’t teach size (although you CAN marry it) and it all starts on the line

Would not surprise me to see us start the season with 5 TE and 5 WR – with some Tight Ends taking away some Wide Receiver snaps.

I am currently tracking over 650 Credit Recovery classes in a school with a population of 800+. I ONLY work with Juniors and Seniors so cut that population number in half – that does not count the current classes that they might be failing which will become a CR class sometime within the next month.

I am proud to say that my school district has the number 318, 319, 320, and 321 ranked schools in Kansas (out of 324). Our alternative school is ranked 317. The only three schools below us are alternative schools, one run by the Department of Corrections. To put it mildly and unavoidably offending someone, we are the CEH of Kansas schools.

The Dhop trade rumors are white hot right now. Now Brandon Aiyuk rumors are also starting to bubble.

I have been thinking about our current WR room and how it is constructed.

Toney is a special talent with #1 ability but can’t play 3 games in a row without getting hurt.
Skyy Moore has potential to be a really good slot and intermediate receiver.
MVS is a boundary only receiver making $10 million a year.

Adding a WR in a trade creates a crunch for opportunities and none of the 4 WRs play coverage teams.

My thought is to include MVS in a trade for Dhop. It makes the DHop salary easier to absorb with MVS off the books. And it creates a roster spot for another WR to come in that can play STs. We could sign Byron Pringle or Justin Watson as our #5 WR and gunner.

Our WR room could be
#1 DHop
#2 Toney
#3 Moore
#4 Justyn Ross
#5 Pringle

whatever he (Hopkins) wants it’s way too much (esp when you add on donating draft picks to the Cards) … the “opportunity cost” is just way too much

as for Sneed: right now he’s a hella good CB on an El Cheapo contract … keep him, use him, let him continue to mentor the kids in the Secondary, next season draft a CB while one of the current young ‘uns steps up as a starter

(that said, I’d rather 8M to a CB with a lot of years left than way more for an older WR with fewer yrs)

upamtn
Reply to  Severely Concussed
03/27/2023 7:16 pm

you’re nuts

Hopkins for what, 3 2nd rounders or whatever? Veach can get 3 solids starters for 4 yrs each on a minimal salary for what Hopkins would “cost” for … how long do we get the old guy who get injured? for how much???

pffffffffft … gimme BV and the draft picks every time

and might still bring back Justin Watson at WR … so there’s that

I would trade L’Jarius Sneed, MVS, and a 4th for DHop.

Our CB depth is great and I don’t see us extending Sneed for $8 million a year after this season.

And Hopkins has probably 3 more years of great productivity left and his current contract isn’t an albatross compared to what other #1 receivers are asking.

Trading for Hopkins insures us against Toney getting hurt and he can help Ross and Moore develop professional habits.

It allows us to focus our 1st 3 picks on DE, DT and OT as well.

I’ll just refer you the first line in my previous statement 🙂 loveya but WRs can be had all over on the cheap in the draft, like RBs (see: Pacheco, Isaiah) and Mahomes can help Ross (and Moore) be professionals (he’s good at that, I hear)

Extend the school days to include extra arts, shop, physical education, and living learnings.

Help kids find something they are good at and stop trying to force all kids to succeed in areas they struggle. Not every person is good in math. But they may great at rebuilding small engines.

Make them find a sense of worth at something and show them they have a future.

i don’t necessarily disagree, but at the moment laws are being pushed to handcuff what educators can do… “it’s up to the parents” and several federal lawmakers (not the “snowflakes”) are advocating eliminating all federal funds for public education.
Your proposal would never fly w/o full Dem control of leg/exec branch as tings stand.

They barely teach math, reading, and writing anymore, which is pretty much what most good careers consist of. Then when kids are tested and found to be unable to do any of these, they change the grading of the test. I also thing all the testing (at least in our state) screws things up. rather than teach the subjects, they are just trying to teach them to pass the tests.

Hmmmm – tomorrow is our ACT day – do not get me started on all this testing.

I know several teachers who do nothing but teach to the test. We are in the midst of two months of virtually nothing but testing.

That and all they do is write reports and do paperwork. they leave the teaching to aides who have no degree.

many states allow charter schools to hire teachers w/o a teaching degree

yes, but the main gripe from the teachers is that they went into teaching because they wanted to teach. instead they are paper pushers.

aides are there to grade papers and learn how to do paperwork … hell, a coupla super-sharp kids in each class can grade papers (although “technically” they aren’t supposed to as it “violates privacy concerns” but still)

I refused to do that … I taught the curriculum (which INCLUDED what was on the tests)

This is all true. Question is…why? Folks scream for teaching standards and accountability, but this is what you get. Admins worry more about meeting “goals” than actual education. Now they have to worry that Tommy’s dad is going to complain because they show a movie about Selma? Good luck.

well, if the parents discipline their kids, the government takes them away. if a teacher does, they get fired. Then I have parents bringing kids to the dojo to learn discipline. so basically they try to hire out parenting to an outside contractor.

No. If parents discipline using abuse, kids get pulled. As they should. Discipline isn’t physical or emotional abuse. It’s setting limits and sticking to them.

not around here. kids will turn their parents in if they get grounded and an investigation ensues. kids make stuff up, same thing. Its obvious who’s in control now, and the kids know it.

Every country has s… parents. The real root issue is us. The citizens of this country. We’re not weak and stupid, we’re cowards.

Look in the mirror and admit to yourself we have allowed fanatics of each extreme to hijack the democratic process.

I admit it, I’ve allowed it. I vote, but the damage has been done before the general election.

goes back much further. My parents were involved in local politics in 50’s early 60s.
My mom was so pissed when she found out the party convention votes were only for show, the decisions had been made well before.
Gotta be in that “smoke filled room” to have a voice.

I think the fact that they publicize the crap out of them makes it worse – now kids think they are going to be famous for doing that crap. it just plants the seeds in more minds.

they’re supposed to be schools, not prisons … you end up with lockdowns and locked-ins and that’s not conducive to a good learning environment … schools are SUPPOSED to be open, fun and free places of learning and mini-societies where kids learn how to be “sociable” (society … see? it all kinda fits together)

TSA systems aren’t fool proof, but I’m ok with the taxes. Pay the teachers.
Full disclosure: I use none of what you want to tax.
