I want to argue that, but just looked at his stats and I’m not sure what justifies what we gave him.
He’s been in a platoon, so his stats aren’t flashy. But there are less miles on those treads too. My concerns don’t show up in stats: not known for pass blocking or receiving.
Stats ain’t flashy but he is. That’s what we need.

They should have had a plan B last offseason. A 7th round flyer on rb doesn’t count as a plan. The fact that they resorted to bringing back CEH during training camp was a huge red flag.
Its free agency. Cook got basically the same deal. Is it over paying. Yes. But when you fail to address a position in the draft then you have to over pay in FA.

Keep in mind too that he’s been playing with the great Sam darnold and geno smith.

I’ll listen to arguements to Damien Williams plus. And I was never a Damien Williams fan. But he gave us that big play ability. Walker gives us that plus a decent back on the non hr plays.

I didn’t bring up CEH. I would rather never think about CEH ever again. That was the comparison i was given. I think its a dogshit comparison.
I say that because of his size/shape/play style.
I think we’ll use him like we used CEH, somewhat sparingly on the ground, and a lot in the passing game.
I would rather have a bruiser type RB that can pound the rock on 1st and 2nd down. Hunt can do it, but he’s getting slow and appears to get tired by the 4th qtr.
I called Walker CEH+ because I think he is better than CEH in most respects, but will be used similarly.
Will Walker be our new 3rd down back? We missed that last year; it was a role that McKinnon did extremely well. If so, then we still need a ground pounder for 1st and 2nd down.
Until he learns to run routes, catch, and most importantly, pass blocking, Walker will not be the 3rd down back
For $15 million, I hope he’s already got some of those skills.
We NEVER passed to CEHs slow ass. Im not sure which games you were watching.
Hunt: 63 targets in 2017.
Williams: 37 targets in 2019.
CEH: 54 targets in 2020.
McKinnon: 71 targets in 2022.
Pacheco: 49 targets in 2023.
Those are their highs for targets. Other years had more distribution between backs.
You are right, CEH only had one year of high targets.
It think that WHOEVER is the RB1 will get plenty of passing targets.

That’s what we were promised with CEH. He was supposed to be a great pass catcher. Never really seemed to push it though. I’d be interested to see targets broken down by screen passes/ red zone/ and 5+ yards down field.
Seems like Reid used to get RBs open down field, and its one of too many things that have disappeared from his offense the last few years.
As far as I can remember, Reid doesn’t get RBs down field. This big plays happened on scrambles.
They’re are exceptions like Jamaal Charles. But it’s not normal.

We lost our top 2 CBs, so I’d guess that’s more critical, since we still have Rice, Worthy, and Juju. We’ll also have Kelce back.
However, I could see us taking a WR with the 29th pick simply because we picked a defender with the 9th pick.

This will change a lot of mock drafts. typical of Veach – he tries to most of the position needs before the draft so he can be flexible with best player available then. I suspect they are hoping for and edge player and high cornerback in the draft because of the cost. likely a wr in their as well.
