The New York Jets have agreed to a trade that will send quarterback Justin Fields to the Kansas City Chiefs, a person familiar with the deal told The Associated Press on Monday.
The Jets will receive a sixth-round draft pick in 2027 for Fields and pick up $7 million of his guaranteed $10 million salary for this upcoming season, the person told the AP on condition of anonymity because the teams didn’t announce the trade.
The deal, first reported by ESPN, is pending a physical.

I like having a younger QB2. Start trading them off to teams like pats did to us with Cassel. Just keep drafting them and trading them off after a couple years

my concern has almost always been this: Mahomes plays every down, every play, regardless of score

We just gotta get back into the habit of running up the score a little bit.
We’ve been in the one-score game game for a few years now, and probably not going to pull Pat unless we are at least 2 scores ahead late in the game.

Quality QBs want to start because they know they can. We go through whatever level is next before we get to “Been unimpressive given every chance in 3 different cities”
Hey Nova, here’s my comment from yesterday’s MH:
“So, does it make sense (and cents) to bring in a young backup QB like Will Levis and keep him around for a few years to be with Mahomes for Pat’s pro career phase two? I’m not sure the annual revolving door of vets is the best thing any more and I don’t know whether Oludakin (sp?) is the answer either.”
I think it is a good idea to have a longer term and younger backup QB, someone to push and support Pat and learn to command the O as needed or designed for a few years steady. Hennething may be possible but the revolving door approach is stale and not so productive. If Fields is willing to take on that role at this stage in his career then here’s me cheering him on. If he turns out to be a bonehead I’d still be in favour of the try.
I can’t argue with any of that, not even the extra U in favor, but Fields fills me with a complete lack of confidence that he can do any of that. Willing to take our money, sit behind Mahomes? Sure. Actually learn anything and put it to use? That’s where I doubt things. Even Richardson, who has the same issues as Fields, might have been a better choice, if only because he only failed in one spot, so MAYBE it was coaching.
So he’ll fit right in.
