Into the Afternight, Our 3rd Shift Open Thread.
19 repliesIf you’re still up and want to talk Chiefs, or just hang with fellow citizens of the Kingdom, this is the place.
So, with the Royals flipping the script on the Twins tonight, how about we try a little contrast and compare music. First up:
Second to the platter:
And that last batter? While I’m not going to repeat a song, it’s hardly fair to bring on Ghost Riders (In the Sky) without at least a nod to the late, great Man in Black.
A fitting monument to the legend himself. I don’t think I can add to this right now, so see you in the comments.
With that, time’s yours.
David Gilmour has auctioned most of guitar collection for many, many millions of dollars.

That’dbe good, except that since he’s recklessly saying things like the “irreverasable” bit, I expect he’s just paying lobbyists and lawfare experts in the West, rather than doing something about India and China. I really like a lot of the songs he was behind, but he’s not qualified to assess anything related to climate science.
Then again, ClientEarth can’t get those sweet, sweet donation dollars by doing stuff away from Western media’s focus, so it’s inevitable it’ll go to things like anti-capitalist agendas in an effort to make the West poor, which will lead to less pollution without hurting anyone who matters to them. #RichPeopleDecisionsForPoorPeopleToLiveBy
As long as we’ve got expert BRAG to fix it for us…
Me? Hardly that, but considering that the “gotta stop climate change” faction has stayed anti-fission-power while going on about CO2 makes me question their seriousness. On the upside, there’s been some promising developments on the fusion power front, enough to draw investment capital – but of course if you impoverish those with capital, that’ll go nowhere. Not that Gilmour will care, as he’ll live out his life comfortably.
OK, so “not repeating a song” is a semi-lie, but I’ll invoke editorial exemption, as this is a reaction video and in the comments.
And even if you don’t care for reaction vids, if you don’t like the original content, you need to seek medical care.
I don’t get to drop into the afternight thread near as much as I’d like, but since I’m here tonight I wanna say BRAG, you do a heckuva dang fine job getting these up and running for the Kingdom folks. Thank you sir!
Much appreciated, C&S. Perhaps not the most entertaining content every night, but to me the point is having them /here/ every night. Or so I believe, and since I’m the one doing them, I suppose that’s the controlling point, not so?
And if you check back, you ready to take the reins back for Sundays at the K?
Yes sir! I’ll be ready for Sunday’s at the K!
Good deal, and the template’s more or less ready to use, though you may want to modify it as it wasn’t intended to be set in stone. just click “New Draft” to pull up a fresh copy, edit and add content. Might only save you a few minutes per use, but it’s a long season still.
I was thinking of something to say,
and that was it.
up’d your’s
Pretty solid game from the Royals tonight. I was completely impressed. Sparkman looked great.
The Royals seem to be playing better since the entire team got sent down to Omaha. Perhaps Dayton Moore told them to look around while there so they could get familiar with it.
Good point! They have been better since that trip.
I’m thinking that Dozier being out may have played a role, since they couldn’t win playing long-ball without him. The shift to small-ball has been serving them well, as most batters are more focused on just getting on base and moving the runners, leaving the power bats to look to go deep.
Small ball won the WS a few years ago. So….not broken, dont fix??
Those teams has plenty of speed, too. Prolly too late for them to make a run this year, but with Salvy selling the point – and why wouldn’t he? – they could pull together the core of a pretty good team this year, and look to make another run next season. Stranger things has happened, after all.
Will Glass pony up the cash? If he will, they can be decent every year. Its the same for the Rockies. Their owners refused to pony up the cash for years. They wasted Helton’s career and traded away any other decent player they had. I hope Arenado isnt Todd Helton 2.0
Hard to say without knowing a lot more about the finances. While shortchanging the fans is a thing in many sports, it isn’t realistic to run the team at a loss over the long haul. KC’s not exactly a media coverage hotbed, either.
