Into The Afternight: Our 3rd Shift O/T
23 repliesIf you’re still up and want to talk Chiefs, or just hang with fellow citizens of the Kingdom, this is the place.
Tonight’s content is a display of the constraints on my time that football as riveting as today’s has been. Behold its brevity.
Such was my modest contribution, but y’all are more than welcome to add your own thoughts and such.
With that, time’s yours.
The gun itself is an interesting early box magazine design, from the mind of one John Moses Browning, unsurprisingly. However, the title is good to its word, so those with a distaste for hunting will want to stop around the last two minutes. Yes, animals were harmed in the making of this video. Be advised.
FWIW, that’s roughly where I stopped. I don’t resent him for harvesting a deer, and in point of fact I wouldn’t hesitate to pull the trigger myself, if I wanted meat.
That said, the above’s a matter of business, not pleasure, so I saw no need to continue from there, once I peeked ahead on the slider.
I’ve seen the first axe-made one used before. I’m really curious as to how much heat is put out by the “rocket stove” style Swedish torch. I might try that on my next camping trip.
I expect that would be a function of the lower ventilation, and since that can be adjusted with various blockers, I’d say cut it big. The burn chamber itself basically has to be big enough to hold sufficient tinder and kindling to get things going, and at least some of the trimmed splinters can be a part of that. Thus sayeth my inexperienced ass.
And to expand on that last part, it wouldn’t surprise me if it were discovered that back in the day, such constructs were sometimes bound together with strips of wet rawhide. As a continuous means of keeping things tightly together, seems an obvious option.
I made one using an eighteen inch long trunk of wood, a one and a half inch spade bit and drill bit extension for the vertical burn chamber and a one inch spade bit for the angled vent hole – it worked well once it got going but that took a bit of doing with strips from cedar shingles or shims. I’m going to try slicing the log in half lengthwise next time. My cousin made one by cutting and welding square steel tubing but it turned out to be too hot under his patio awning so he had to add a top baffle. Cool stuff!
noms, protocals and expected behaviors won’t cut it anymore, a lot of that shit needs to be codified imho.
Confused
you and me both brother
Turns out the NFL isn’t the only copycat league. Whodathunk?
Instead of a preening, sanctimonious, and completely feigned outrage, why not just admit that essential truth that we all recognize?:

Four guarantees
Rams over Packers if Goff can generate enough points
Bucs over Saints if Arians sticks with the running game
Mahomes for 400+ yards and 4 TDs as long as line gives him protection
A quarterback chokes in a big situation as long as Allen and Jackson are playing
Saints will feast if Bucs try that deep ball.
The Steelers can still come back from this one. Even if they are down and the game is over.
If they find my lack of faith disturbing, then they have about 7.5 months to do something about it. Not like they can get me choked up.
..won by a lot, everybody knows the scoreboard was hacked.
pausing the game mid-way and starting again..??.. the fix was in

Indicators of election fraud according to the BBC circa 2016 include… delays in announcing results.
Doubly odd that vote count stoppages only occurred in metro areas in key swing states.
Are you really still bitching about your boy losing the election? You must be a joy to be around. I’m sure you’ve got tons of friends too
In a way I’m actually quite happy about how it all unfolded. For will over a decade I’ve been trying to tell people that the American political system hates them and is designed to be immune to their political, whether left or right wing.
But thanks to the chutzpah of this past election, I’m finally having a receptive audience.
