Has the Frank Clark Redemption Arrived?
15 repliesAfter training camp practices, it’s normal for a select number of players and coaches to do interviews. After Saturday’s practice, it was Frank Clark’s turn, and he gave a particularly interesting series of answers.
His comments on Karlaftis were funny, but most noteworthy was what he said about himself and his performance last season. He had a disappointing season, and it wasn’t just the fans who noticed. The first sign of this was when he agreed to take a pay cut this offseason.
In this interview, he talks about how he and Andy Reid had a frank (pun intended) conversation about his performance, in which Reid apparently told him that he could do better. He took this criticism to heart, cutting alcohol and red meat from his diet in order to arrive at camp with a more slimmed figure.
This begs the question, are we going to see a new and improved Frank Clark this season? We tend to forget just how good he used to be. His last 3 seasons in Seattle, he had 32 sacks, 9th most in the NFL over that period. He has proven he has the potential to be one of the better pass rushers in the NFL, so with a renewed focus after hitting rock bottom, and the team using the money you gave back to them to sign a guy who could replace you, it’s very possible he has a career year in 2022.
But it’s important to temper expectations. While it is possible he comes in and dominates, history is against him. Typically, once you perform at a certain level over several years, that’s a good indication that that’s who you really are.
Redemption may occur when we see improvement in games, but his head seems to be in the right place, so that’s a good start.
I was impressed with his presser and am very hopeful for what he can bring going forward. You can tell he’s in a different place just from looking at his face, he’s clearly leaner. Plus, it’s now a contract year for him, which remains undefeated.
Put me down as a “yes”
Lets just hope this is not one of those typical ‘he’s in the best shape of his life’ spring training/training camp clichés
Yeah that’s why I’m being very cautious with my optimism. This is koolaid drinking season.
just remember what happened to the Jim Jones folks who drank koolaid … just sayin’ 😉
See? Jim Jones didn’t offer Koolaid. He only had “Flavorade”, which is why everyone died. Stuff is nasty. I hear they give it out a raiders camp.

We are totally safe.
” Purple Drank ” …Ja’Marcus Russel Juice of Champions ! … ; )
that’s a morbid thought, thanks
Only UPs could find something negative about Kool-Aid ……😃
Yeah but we don’t serve purple in the kingdom so I think we good
Yeah, they ended up raider fans.
Let’s hold out hope that he does improve it will only help. It doesn’t matter how good he is this season, it will most likely be his last year as a Chief.
Which makes me expect a really good year, as he’s looking to impress the future boss
