Former Chiefs WR J.J. Birden Publishes Book

Back in the Schottenheimer days, the Kansas City Chiefs were graced with a small but scrappy wide receiver from the University of Oregon.  J.J. Birden played for the Chiefs from 1990-1994, and then played a few years for the Falcons after.  And he was the shortest and lightest man on the field (and the league!) at 5’9 and 157 lbs. when he came in the league.  Birden was told he’d never play in the NFL.  He was told he didn’t have the right size, and he would get destroyed out there.  But he pushed through, overcame the criticism, and found a way.  I wrote a tribute poem to him some years ago, and he still appreciates it.  (I know, because he liked and responded to my Twitter X post promoting his book with an “Awesome!” followed by two applause emojis.)  You can read that tribute poem here: https://arrowheadguys.com/chiefs-poem-the-overcomer-of-great-odds-a-tribute-poem-for-former-chiefs-player-j-j-birden/
