Carson Steele Runs Over Bears Backups In Final Preseason Game
5 repliesPreseason Game 2 Recap.
Real football is next!
Game Summary
In a game featuring mostly players who won’t be on the team in 2 weeks, there’s not much to note. In this case the biggest takeaways were backup tackle Wanya Morris suffering a leg injury and new fan favorite Carson Steele continuing to impress with big runs in a preseason where he likely earned himself a roster spot.
Otherwise the big news from the game will be Bears cornerback Douglas Coleman suffering a serious head injury and requiring a stretcher off the field. Here’s hoping he’s alright.

Thor gonna be a badass.
I promised some thoughts here, but I made myself a liar, as you can see. Happy reading!
I’m still gonna watch this tomorrow, but I feel like I’ll be a little concerned about our backups.
Don’t anticipate disappointment, then. Look for who made smart plays, and demonstrated good techniques. Toney looks like a poster boy for what those rookies shouldn’t look like consistently. Steele helped himself a ton, as did others. Check the Afternight for more, and look for guys who’re doing things well that don’t make the broadcast. I saw some, but I couldn’t see them all, because flaws stick out like a sore thumb and are hard to distinguish from things beyond their control, both look like bad plays.
Or watch it your way, and let your concerns be confirmed, if that’s what you prefer. It feels bad, but more good, because you’ll prove yourself to be right. But mistakes and bobbles were inevitable in this game, and we weren’t playing to win, we were playing to see what guys could do, the good AND the bad, because most of the bad is teachable stuff. So my advice is to shift your focus, and not dwell on the expected mistakes. It won’t teach you much about anything useful to you.
Put on a happy face, it’s more comfortable.
I do appreciate the sentiments. I know it’s just the preseason so I know not to have huge expectations. At the end of the day, it’s my favorite team playing in a game and I’ll always be good with that.
