This week (well, last week too) is and was all about reflecting on the Kansas City Chiefs’ latest major accomplishment:

Becoming the World Champion Super Bowl-winning Kansas City Chiefs.

After this weekend we begin to move into the next phase of football — contemplating free agency, the Draft, and all the fun “what-ifs” surrounding Chris Jones, Sammy Watkins, and other fan-favorite players on the team.

And if we were the only Chiefs-based fansite that was writing about these things, you wouldn’t face down having to deal with the over saturation of opinion articles and editorials, cap-breakdowns, contract deep-dives, and the lot to tide us over until the dust settles. Although you should just be reading our stuff. It works better that way.

So, what are some things you would like to see? Last year we had daily topical threads in the morning — we could keep doing those (I enjoyed Thirsty Thursday, but I’m bias). We also did mock draft competitions (proud to say that Dan and I tied for first with those last year).

But we are here for your enjoyment, so your input is invaluable! Did we do something you liked? Something you hated? Didn’t do enough/any of _____ that you want more of?

Let us know! Or, you know, talk about hockey or basketball or something …

I’d like to see some breakdowns of who are the up and coming threats to the chiefs. Including film analysis.

It is fools gold to return to his school. If he was from USC or Florida it might be different. But there is a reason Colorado hasn’t sniffed a national title since he played there. 5 star recruits don’t want to go to Boulder, Colorado when they are getting offers from every warm weather school in the nation.

trying to switch to google Fi for cellular, cuz we can get unlimited talk and text for 2 lines for $35 a month plus $10 per GB for data, which i rarely use more than 2GB, so 2 phones for $55 is about half what im paying now. Signed up for one just fine, sent the invitation to join the group to link the 2 lines and it wont go past the signup screen to sign up for the second line. Chat help was no help

I personally like reading that the Chiefs are World Champions. Going forward, I’d like to see much more of that.

Tyrone

I wouldn’t be opposed to an update to the AG logo/header to include the Lombardi or mention of Super Bowl Champions.

I enjoyed last year’s offseason format.

Wolf Wednesday was my favorite.

I enjoyed Friday night at the movies.

Thirsty Thursday was hilarious, but I worry it might turn into Cirrhosis Saturdays.

I might suggest doing the old “caption this” photo gag everyday. It would spur some engagement and this place is full of smart asses so it will end up making people laugh.

Tony Sommer

Apparently they’re going to start back up next week, which means I need topics for Science Saturday.

Plate tectonics. Deep sea “black smokers”. Mid-Atlantic ridge.
Could be a realted series

Tony Sommer

That’s a good one. I don’t know a ton about plate tectonics, but it’s worth learning about I think.

BleedingRedAndGold

Lot of things hinge on it, no doubt about that. F’rex I recently learned that marsupials arose in South America and moved to Australia via Antarctica, so continental drift gets interesting.

Wasn’t until they proved seafloor spreading in the 60s that it was validated, smokers wern’t discoved until the 70s

A series discussing crystals ranging from quartz to diamond has a certain appeal. Incidentally, http://kcgemshow.org/ is in mid-March and features an exhibit of fluorescent minerals, admission’s very reasonable, too. Our kids loved it when we went, bought them a geode each, some years. Lots of things to see, minor fossils included.

MasterChief
MasterChief

I’ve got a pretty nice collection of minerals and my fossil collection gets better every year.

BleedingRedAndGold

I’ll start thinking about ways of backing you up on that, already have a couple ideas. See how they evolve.

Tony Sommer

Cool, I appreciate it. It’s hard to come up with ideas every week.

I have to come up with video content every night, so I know whereof you speak.

ForeverRanger91

So let’s talk about Aldon Smith. He would be a good fit for the Chiefs but I do wonder if being close to home could be an issue.

EAFOX

Would be an interesting addition – would be all for it as long as he stays out of trouble. Low risk high reward signing.

ForeverRanger91
ForeverRanger91

With Reid’s history of taking on “bad apples”, could be fun. I worked with his sister at Walmart and she was a nice girl.

BleedingRedAndGold

If Reid/Veach brought him in, I’d trust his judgement on the matter. That said, if he’s got a rep* sheet with the KC area PDs things could get dicey.

*That was intentional, not talking about a rap sheet here.

EAFOX

The odds of him making it thru the season would be about twenty-five to one.

BleedingRedAndGold

If R&V agreed with you, they wouldn’t bring him in. If they did, I’d consider the odds to be considerably better.

Tyrone

Let’s not.

After discussing the current “WORLD CHAMPIONS”. I could tolerate some more BBQ chatter, always enjoyed that.

We could discuss how KISS is the greatest group ever as well as how music died in the eighties after the glory years of the sixties and seventies.

Nasrani
Nasrani

While I disagree with your former statement (Free is, and always will be, the greatest band ever to have played music, and “All Right Now” the single greatest song ever written by anyone at any time ever), I do wholeheartedly and completely agree that music died in the eighties.

EAFOX

Well, at least you are half right. I do appreciate your numerous musical contributions to this site.

wvchiefsfan
wvchiefsfan

You’re missing out on plenty of good music that’s come out after the eighties. And we’re in the age when it’s the absolute easiest to sample the smorgasbord of that music for essentially no cost.

ChiefsCo.
ChiefsCo.

AIC, Soundgarden, Pearl Jam & STP were my favorites in the 90’s

EAFOX

Been down this road before – enjoy this new “music” if you want – I have found about five decent songs but nothing compares to the sixties and seventies.

Severely Concussed
Severely Concussed

Newer stuff that sounds like older stuff.

EAFOX

For the record, I respect the people out there still trying to make music. The industry is the problem.

Severely Concussed
Severely Concussed

I get it. I am just trying to give you some new songs. I listen to music about 8 hrs per day while working. It is refreshing finding new songs/artists I like to add to the catalogs.

EAFOX

Most of us old people are resistant to change. I find contentment in watching reruns of my old TV shows, my classic movies that I have seen hundreds of times, and listening to my old music that I know every lyric to.

Severely Concussed
Severely Concussed

I am on my way to getting old.

Ironically, the song I posted above is called “I Need Never Get Old”

EAFOX

In addition to complaining about new “music”, I like to get pissed about reality TV and movie sequels

Severely Concussed
Severely Concussed

I mostly agree about reality tv. I do enjoy cooking competitions though.

Movie sequels don’t bother me because almost every movie that has come out in my lifetime has a sequel. (I am 37)

EAFOX

Watched Ink Master with my daughter for several seasons but that is about it. My other daughter got excited when they advertised – I think it was like the Fast and Furious part nine – When are they going to come up with an original idea?

Severely Concussed
Severely Concussed

Funny story about Fast & Furious preview.

My wife and I saw it the other day. We have seen every movie in the series. In the preview Dom drives his car onto a bridge cable and swings across a canyon.

My wife said “that seems a bit ridiculous”.

So I had to call her out. “Of all the stunts, in all the movies, this is your breaking point?”

BleedingRedAndGold

Not really disagreeing with you, but for me it depends on the level of reality and how it relates to the show. F’rex 1: Pawn Stars (bad) vs. Oddities (good). Both played fast and loose with the actual deals and arranged for certain people to show up on schedule, but the difference was the focus. The direction of PS was “we gotta make money!” (untrue in this context), while Oddities was about people with mutual interest in cool stuff.

BleedingRedAndGold

The flip side of this are the honest competition shows, such as Chopped and Forged in Fire. Or at least last i heard both were honest, but the point is that it isn’t orchestrated in the way Survivor is. Then there’s the Antiques Roadshow category, and so on. Long story short, it all depends.

With all due respect to Lamar Jackson who rightfully earned MVP honors, he was exposed for the two problems that could plague him forever. He is not an accurate passer to receivers on the outside. Shut down the middle and he struggles in the passing game. With his running ability, he can adapt to his lack of skill there but, over a long career, he will need to improve to move to the next level. More importantly, he has been exposed in back to back playoff games for not having the mental toughness to overcome bad situations. He mentally quit long before the end of the game. This problem is much harder to solve than the first.

EAFOX

The regular season is like foreplay and the playoffs are like intercourse. Lamar Jackson came up impotent in his first game. Excuses made and a rationale given. Now he has come up (pun intended) impotent again. When he gets to the playoffs again, he is going to be more concerned with being impotent than actually winning the game. Hard to break that cycle.

HawaiiFiveOh
HawaiiFiveOh

See: Phillip Rivers.

EAFOX

Rivers in his prime was good for the first 55 minutes of the game.

HawaiiFiveOh
HawaiiFiveOh

Unless he wasn’t. Then he was REALLY bad

EAFOX

Yeah, he always had a few games which became interception city.

Sudden
Sudden

To be fair to Rivers, I don’t think it’s accurate to use a metaphor of impotence of all things for a man of such noteworthy fecundity.

EAFOX

He is a hall of fame breeder.

Nothing as creepy as Brady kissing his son on the lips for about a minute or so.

ChiefsCo.
ChiefsCo.

Yeah that was weird as shit. Also Kraft kissing Brady after the SB last year.

EAFOX

Kraft was having a post Asian massage side effect.

Tyrone

He sucks.

Tony Sommer

He’s never won a game when the other team scored more than 24 points.

EAFOX

At the risk of being accused of hating, Rivers tried to win games by himself in the end – more often than not, he failed. I give him credit for trying to make something happen. On the other hand, Alex Smith was famous for the incompletion at the end of a close game.

Tony Sommer

I was talking about Lamar Jackson.

EAFOX

Whoops – sorry – but I still stick by my Rivers quote. In Lamar’s defense, after I spent time skewering him, the Ravens game plan is built around a lower scoring game. That is half of the problem when the other team puts up points.

Tony Sommer

To me that’s a big difference between Mahomes and Jackson. People make excuses for Jackson, but nobody needs to make excuses for Mahomes.

EAFOX

Good point. The big difference to me (up to this point in their careers) – Mahomes rises and Jackson falls when the going gets tough.

Sudden

To me the big difference is that Mahomes is a QB

Jackson is a superior athlete who could become a good quarterback.

EAFOX

Other sports are cool to discuss but I come here for my Chiefs. Same for all the side conversations – love em but I am here for my Chiefs. Could have a series of articles on current or former Chiefs – a running set of articles about Chiefs’ history – the best and favorite regular season Chiefs’ games – an AG vote for the all-time Chiefs’ team by position – not just starters but reserves as well – worst game moments ever for the Chiefs, our angry Chiefs’ moments (mine is when Romeo Crennel would not reveal who the emergency quarterback was so as not to give the opposition an advantage – REALLY??? and so on.
