Wednesday Night Pub Quiz: Aaron Rodgers became the 11th QB with 10 playoff wins, can you name the other 10?

Arrowhead Guys discuss anything and everything.

While most of us here in Kansas City were focused on the dramatic come from behind Chiefs victory and the upcoming AFC title game against the Titans, Aaron Rodgers was celebrating his 10th playoff win.

Chiefs fans know how hard it can be to win playoff games, but there are surprisingly few quarterbacks who have double digit wins in the postseason.

How many of the other 10 can you name? Hint: Derek Carr isn’t on the list.

Anyone want to read some really hot takes from the day Mahomes was drafted?

Round 1 – Pick 10: Patrick Mahomes II, QB, Texas Tech (Kansas City Chiefs) from nfl

HOUSTON TEXANS BLUES (Imagine a good blues beat in the background)
We had twenty-four
We needed more
We had fourth down
No good play from the clown
On a punt fake we ran
Into Dirty Dan
The Chiefs started late
But Patrick was great
We had J J Watt
But our coach is a twat
Even a score from Blake Bell
That game was hell
The result means nothing
Cause we’ll hire Bob Sutton
And get revenge next year
No more Eric Fisher beer

Tyrone

Excellent

The last minute and a half of this song are perhaps some of the best blues ever played.

Perhaps, one day, Patrick Mahomes will become the first quarterback to defeat all sixteen of the NFC teams in a Super Bowl.

Mitko

I’d say Tom Brady to start, but does being along for the ride count? Are * wins included?

EAFOX

Wish there was a formula to determine how responsible a quarterback was for a teams win or loss. Brady has had a lot of moments but was on the best team for a lot of those runs. How many quarterback wins would I have had it been me instead of Brady?

Chickennpickles

I honestly think that’s why he got freaked out when Belichick wanted to move on from him in ‘17 & go with Garopollo. Tom went & talked with Kraft cause knew that Jimmy would likely have just as much success as he did & it would hurt his legacy as the goat. It’s probably why he wanted to play so long. He’s hoping Bill retires soon.

Tyrone

Luke Kuechly for the Hall of Fame?

Con: He only played 8 seasons.

Pro: He was 5x 1st team all pro. He was a pro-bowler every season except for his rookie year, when he led the league in tackles.

Out of 291 players in the Hall of Fame (some of those were inducted for the coaching rather than as a player) only 85 were at least 5x all pro.

EAFOX

Has BOB replaced Jason Garrett as the poster boy of head coaching ineptitude?

Who is banging the drum on Sunday?

Todd Rundgren

Will he bang on the drum all day?

I’m just glad the first response wasn’t “Who?”

Well duh, Rundgren was never a member of The Who.

I was wondering too. Last year it was Clark Hunt. I’m wondering if he is going to do it again.

EAFOX

I know we are crossing sports but George Brett would be a prime choice – one KC legend passing the baton to another.

MasterChief
MasterChief

Well, the Royals did let Mahomes throw a first pitch at least once.

EAFOX

If only Marty was healthy enough – perhaps, we can roll Dick Vermeil out – he can cry after we trounce the Titans.

Since the Rams did beat the Titans, I like this idea.

EAFOX

Was not even thinking that but how poetic.

MasterChief

Vermeil would be great too! DJ is another one I’d like to see.

Eric Berry is a potential candidate but he is listed as day to day.

Being day-to-day is Eric Berry’s Achilles heel.

What about “bad luck Chuck” the guy who left last weeks game when we were down 24-0. He comes in and bangs the drum then the whole stadium says at once..”now get the hell out”
Lol. That would be epic. Could be a new tradition. IDK just being funny i guess.

EAFOX

Len Dawson would be awesome.

MasterChief
MasterChief

Yes! But is he able? He’s looking pretty aged the last couple years.

EAFOX

I would carry him up to the drum.

Oh man! To see Len Dawson crowd surf all the way to the drum and then bang it would be AWESOME.

Ned Yost to give him a proper send off.

I can agree to that

Found it down there. Not surprisingly Farve and Staubach, but holy cow Flacco jesus that was a good defense and o line

Tyrone

That would be one of the best things about being a former player. Being a part of the team forever and getting to enjoy the success of you favorite team. It would have to be a little bitter-sweet for the more recently retired guys who just missed out on this.

MasterChief
MasterChief

I love all those guys. They are Chiefs for LIFE!

Tyrone

Baffling.

He thinks he didn’t have a single play that could get 1 yard?

HawaiiFiveOh

QB sneaks are pretty handy for that.

Haha. He was using the “coach suggestions” on Madden

BleedingRedAndGold

At a guess, perhaps he meant that he didn’t have it close enough to the top of his thoughts to find on his card. Maybe he expected to get the 1st down to the point that he was a little stunned, kinda like when that fumble basically dropped into Thompson’s hands. Took Darwin a moment to figure out what the hell was going on, no doubt out of sheer surprise.

I’d need solid evidence before I’ll believe that they went into the game without a selection of 4th and 1 plays, especially considering that at one point before the game he opined that he might not punt at all in the game. While that might not have the literal truth, treating it as an exaggeration makes good sense as coach-speak, IMO. That would suggest to the press that he’d be aggressive on 4th downs without saying so outright – which he could have been held to, if circumstances dictated to him he should punt, but poorly-informed fans might disagree.

You’re exactly correct.

But then after calling the timeout, and having all that time to think about he still couldn’t come up with a play and changed his mind.

I think kicking the FG was the right move. Its never bad to make a lead bigger. You go for it on 4th and get stuffed and thats a HUGE momentum changer. The indecision is the mystery, the FG team should have been on the field immediately. Made him look weak and the team soft.

The fake punt was a might as well try it play. I think he knew KC was scoring when they got the ball back, punt or whatever so might as well try not to give it back. I dont think that mattered. Is there any doubt we would have driven it 80 yards?

BleedingRedAndGold

I don’t think that BOB literally said “go for it” so much as he gave a green light for doing so if the read was right, and Reid’s read wasn’t quite right. I mean, it nearly was, that was no easy tackle Sorensen made, and as much as I dislike Eric Mangini I have to admit that he had a point; if you want the element of surprise doing there where it’s an obviously possibility isn’t helping you much.

Many have said that it was a dumb call, and based on the results that’s kind of obvious – but how much of that derives from second-guessing? As for the FG, while I think you’re right about the calling the TO makes it look bad, in general taking the points in such a situation is a pretty conventional decision. Either way it’s easy to say that the decisions should’ve been flipped, but without the FG call the PR becomes irrelevant because if that’s called differently it’s a completely different ballgame afterwards, so flipping both disconnects from reality. You can change one or the other, but not both if you’re BOB.

So if the two favorites win this weekend, we get an opportunity to avenge the 2014 world series.
