Game Summary

Game summaries typically start with the first quarter, but I’m sitting here wondering if I can just skip past the first fifteen minutes to a future that is hopefully better…no? Damn you. Damn you all. Blown coverage in the secondary. 7-0. Blocked punt returned for a touchdown. 14-0. Tyreek Hill, possibly the most reliable player on the team, muffs a punt on the six yard line. 21-0. Ever wonder how Texans fans felt during the last playoff game between these two teams? Pretty sure this is it.

The second quarter was reminiscent of What About Bob. Baby steps limiting the Texans to a field goal. 24-0. Baby steps turning a stellar Hardman kick return into a Damien Williams touchdown run. 24-7. Baby steps stuffing the Texans on 4th down. Baby steps capitalizing with a Patrick Mahomes touchdown strike to Travis Kelce. 24-14. Baby steps Dirty Dan wrecking a kickoff return to setup another Kelce score. 24-21. Baby steps executing the two minute drill to perfection. 28-24. Baby steps Texans missing a field goal to close out the half and holy hell, we got us a ball game.

The third quarter opened with a 7 play 85 yard drive capped by another Damien Williams touchdown scamper. However Harrison Butker missed the following PAT. With a questionable unsportsmanlike conduct penalty on Williams after the score for placing the ball on the ground, the Texans were primed with solid field position. However the defense held and sacked Watson on 3rd down after about he ran around for about five minutes. The Chiefs took advantage of the stop with a 77 yard drive for a 3rd Damien Williams touchdown.

But the Chiefs weren’t done in the 4th quarter, opening with a 72 yard drive resulting in a Travis Kelce Blake Bell touchdown reception setup by a 28 yard Sammy Watkins catch to put the offense in scoring position. The Texans follwed up with another turnover on downs for which Butker answered with a 24 yard field goal. With the score 51-31 I think its fair for me to take the rest of the game off to celebrate and not write about a buncha bullshit the Texans did that don’t matter one bit.

I love each and every one of you crazy Arrowhead Guys!

What a day! I made a $50 bet with a friend who is a Texans fan when the score was 14-0 that we would still win. He leaped at it and then it became 24-0. I never lost the faith even then. Profit.

I’m now seriously considering making the 10+ hour drive from Austin, TX for the AFC title game next weekend. Anyone have a place I can crash at for two nights?

FYI: Since there are basically two open threads going right now I have moved the Afternight up an hour to kinda pull it together into a clear forum. See y’all there.

That was an exhausting and exhilarating game, I’m falling asleep in my chair, time to hit the sack, gonna wake up in the morning with a smile and a chuckle, cheers to all AGers, CHEERS FOR THE CHIEFS!

So many great plays in the game. Two for me that aren’t likely candidates for plays of the game were Clark’s sack where he got up off the ground after whiffing twice and finally nabbed Watson and Sammy’s 28 yard reception- helluva throw and a helluva catch.

Where’s spiller been? His Frank Clark hate was so annoying. Frank Clark and my man Brett VEACH! What an offseason plan. VEACH > Dorsey, enough said

You would think after YEARS of getting burned by TE’s, RAC would find a way to defend them.

Love ya too Anthony Stratton, our beardful leader. After a game like that there’s gotta be hugs all around.

I’ve hugged Anthony — it’s not all that

Enjoy Arrowhead and please do! Made my first game ever this year – the loss to the Packers – won’t be my last.

Now Texans fans know what we felt after leading by 4 scores against the Colts in 2013.

From a Texans fan at half time:

The Chiefs had the worst 1st quarter I’ve ever seen in the playoffs.

Good thing the Texans had the worst 2nd quarter ever.

LOL. Yeah. The Texans really shot themselves in the foot all 2nd Q huh? Not like the Chiefs didn’t just wake up and beat them

Game ball for Dirty Dan. I’ve always liked him more than most around here. He’s good at who he is… a ST Beast and serviceable safety on certain downs. He had a helluva game. Let’s get him a ring

He is a solid 3rd safety.

Heck of a game, but can we try not to spot the titans 24 flipping points next week!!! 😏

They beat us the first time off of mour mistakes. We need to clean it up. It’s like we had to get all the goods out of our system in the first quarter.

A couple days ago Skip Bayless was talking about how Watson was better because he had more 4th quarter comebacks than Mahomes.

Mahomes doesn’t do many 4th quarter comebacks because he comes back from down 24 to lead before halftime.

Tomahawk
Tomahawk

Yeah. And he probably has more 2+ possession leads when the 4th starts than any other QB over the last 2 years.

It doesn’t compute with Skip that you have to be DOWN in the 4th in the first place to make a comeback.

Shannon actually made that point, at least tried to but Skip did his trademarked fingers in the ears “la la la I’m right you’re wrong” bit.

Welp, I’ll see you guys next week. Almost certainly coming out to KC for my first Arrowhead game in a few years.
