Arrowhead Guys highlight the best offensive and defensive plays from the Chiefs game versus the Raiders

Arrowhead Guys scours the tape to find you the biggest plays on offense and defense every week!

Once again the Chiefs have destroyed the Raiders…utterly and completely. But that does not mean that there were not key plays that played a significant role in the outcome of the game. What were they? Well, for that we have you covered.

Offense

In a 40-9 blowout its hard sometimes to pick just one play, but this deep pass to Travis Kelce was just a thing of beauty.

Defense

With the Chiefs leading 14-0 in the second quarter, rookie safety Juan Thornhill jumped a route and ran the interception back 47 yards for the score, essentially putting the nail in the Raiders hope for the game.

What were your plays of the game?

Nasrani’s GameBall Award goes to Juan Thornhill. Kid sniffed out an end-around yesterday on 4th and 1, stopping it cold.

Oh, and he had that other big play too.

BleedingRedAndGold

I’d ask “what other play?”, but if you’ve seen Juan, you’ve seen them all. 😉

Well played, sir. Well played.

My favorite was the 20 yd drop back.

Off topic, DT not making the NFL100 pisses me off. Singletary got snubbed also.

BleedingRedAndGold

I discussed that on twitter the other day, and I think most agreed that the issue was that they just couldn’t have 3 KC LBs, so it wasn’t DT vs. the league, it was him vs. the other two Chiefs who made the list.

And that’s just stupid (not your point, that mentality). If you are going to have the top 100 NFL players, it shouldn’t matter how many come from one team.

BleedingRedAndGold

Yeah, but with the roster limited to basically two full teams there were going to be great players who got screwed no matter what. As for your point about teams shouldn’t matter when picking them out, I agree but their list is and was intended to be about marketing, like any other power ranking. Establishing who the top 100 all-time NFL players are would take a much more rigorous process.

I hear ya. It just seems especially flawed when a HoF LBer who still holds the record for most sacks in a game doesn’t crack that list.

Its almost like having a token player from every mlb team in the all star game.

In a similar vein, I was looking up chiefs all time stat leaders (Mahomes should be passing Cassel by the end of the year), and looked over at receiving leaders and we currently have 2 top 10 all time receivers playing for the chiefs in kelce and tyreek. Of course that list is uberpathetic, with 4 rbs making the top 20 list (not including players listed as SE and FL for their positions, which I have no idea what those mean). Only need 2400 yards to crack the top 20. Face meet palm. Question is how many will Pat add to that list in his career?

I’d put the over/under at 20.5.

SE is “split end”. FL is “flanker”. You haven’t been a Chiefs fan long enough if you don’t know those terms. They were known as this before they called them WR.

DenverDonkeyHater

I wasnt born when they were still using those terms, so I dont think its my fault for not being a fan long enough.

Not being born is a pretty lame excuse for not being a Chiefs fan. I believe that Otis Taylor’s restaurant in K.C. was called The Flanker.

I see I have competition for the cranky old geezer position here. Well done sir. Well done. 😉

My play of the game is Darwin Thompson’s TD, because I hope it will lead to more Darwin Thompson.

We’ve been needing a runner who can produce yards behind poor to mediocre blocking since week 12 of last season. We’ll definitely need him against NE, not to mention any team we face in the playoffs.

BleedingRedAndGold

I don’t disagree with you about Thompson, but I think that since getting all their starters back they’ve been improving and believe that they’ll be better coordinated next week. Continuity of an OL is still a thing, and they haven’t had much continuity there, this season. Barring injury I see no reason to believe that they won’t keep improving, unless they stop because they’ve topped out.

Berserker

I’m sure the Oline will keep improving, and I actually think we’ve got some talented guys there.

But I also think there’s a ceiling as to how good the run blocking on this team can be, because I believe that Reid portions practice time to other things instead.

Thompson was gaining good yards on vanilla, telegraphed draw plays. For this offense to have a significant running game, they need a runner with enough talent to do that.

BleedingRedAndGold

Somebody check the paddock to see if four odd-looking guys are saddling up for a ride, Berserker and I agreed on two different things today, lol.

BleedingRedAndGold

FWIW I expect to see our guys get flagged next week, I just hope they can limit it. Couple false starts at minimum for the offense, not to mention the refs bending over backward to afford Brady extra protection from injury, so the D’s likely to draw three of their own.

Let’s call the over-under line 5 flags accepted against us, but by setting it there Imma gunna hafta take the over, Mt. Barker.

vvet818

Brady’s most trusted weapons, wide receiver Julian Edelman and running back James White, these are the guys we need to limit in the Pats game. Limit them and touch Brady a few times and our chances should be good.

DaChefs

Texans were doubling Edelman. Take note Chiefs D.

David Toub sure got his guys playing good yesterday

MasterChief

They played good in the last game too, after that horrible loss the ST caused 2 games ago. I think after that embarrassing loss Toub really straightened them out.

Berserker

Noticed Hardman make a couple good decisions yesterday.

BleedingRedAndGold

Seems to be learning his role, but too soon to call it a trend.

My favorite was any play that had this result….

Cherry on Top play: The blocked extra point returned for 2!

BleedingRedAndGold

The ST unit had a good day, what with the forced fumble on that kickoff. Sure, we didn’t get a TD off it, but it still shut down an OAK drive before it got started.

HawaiiFiveOh

And Buttkicker nailed that 50 yarder in the wind.

Berserker

Ha, it was like we let them get the TD just so we could shove the extra point up their ass.

Eze chief kingdom
Eze chief kingdom

there is nothing more deflating after a TD than that. it was funny

BleedingRedAndGold

Afterwards I said something like “And with that return for 2 the Raiders can’t even hang their hat on the TD”. Even their garbage-time TD led to disaster.

Leaf

Yeah it was hilarious how Romo was talking about how important to some to get ten because that second digit and then right after that we yanked that second digit away.
