Due to personal reasons, Damien Williams is listed as questionable. He is supposed to travel with the team. Your non-game day #MorningHuddle is here.

The Kansas City Chiefs most deserving of a Pro Bowl selection | Arrowhead Addict

Dustin Colquitt, Punter

In this his 15th season, punter
Dustin Colquitt, the team’s longest tenured player, continues to prove that he is among the best in the business. Named to two previous Pro Bowls, it would be easy to argue that Colquitt should have seen a half dozen more trips to the NFL’s all star game.

Unfortunately, his lack of relative use might keep him from being seen. Colquitt has only punted 31 times so far on the year, giving him nearly half the punts (and punting yards) of guys like Brett Kern (Tennessee Titans) and Lachlan Edwards (New York Jets). However, despite his meager 41.5 yards per punt average, his
9th ranked ‘inside the 20’ percentage is strong, he has the fourth longest punt of the year, and Colquitt’s ability to pin opponents back allow for minimal return yards (60 on the year).

Colquitt still belongs in the conversation for the Pro Bowl as a celebration of what he has meant to the franchise and where he ranks among active punters as a decorated veteran still very much in fine form.

Chiefs scout attends Colin Kaepernick’s workout despite location change | Chiefs Wire

Following the workout, Kaepernick addressed a few of the scouts in attendance, including and urged them to relay a message to the owners of the teams they represented.

I can’t imagine the comment will be taken well by those in charge of making the decisions.

The Chiefs, of course, aren’t in need of a quarterback right now. They have four players at the position between the active roster and the practice squad.  It’s important to keep in mind that Kaepernick’s workout wasn’t necessarily held with this season in mind as we’re already well into the 2019 season. Good teams always look for ways to make their team better, no matter who they already have at the position. This feels like one of those situations for Kansas City, but we’ll see how things play out for Kaepernick in the future.

Five intriguing games of NFL Week 11 | The Athletic

The Chiefs win if: When led by Mahomes, the Chiefs have scored at least 30 points in more than half of their games in the past two seasons. The bigger issue is whether the Chiefs’ defense can solve some of their issues when trying to limit the running ability of their opponent. The combo of Chargers running backs Melvin Gordon and Austin Ekeler will be a challenge for the Chiefs’ defense. But the Chiefs can win if Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers has to throw the ball more than coach Anthony Lynn wants. Rivers has thrown 10 interceptions this season. The Chiefs’ defense needs to force more takeaways.

Game prediction: Chiefs 30, Chargers 26

A victory will ensure the Chiefs continue to lead the AFC West. Mahomes is better than Rivers and coach Andy Reid has dominated divisional opponents in the previous two seasons. If the Chiefs don’t make silly mistakes, they should feel better about themselves as they enter their bye week.

Super Bowl meter: Even if the Chiefs leave Mexico City with a victory, their overall meter should remain calm. Folks in the Midwest shouldn’t get excited unless the Chiefs win consecutive games, which hasn’t occurred since September.

Clark Hunt provides update on Chris Jones extension talks | Chiefs Wire

“There have been ongoing discussions with Chris’ representatives,” Hunt said. “As I mentioned in the preseason, we are very hopeful that we can extend Chris’ contract and bring him back to Kansas City for many years to come. He is obviously a fantastic player, a great guy in the locker room and we’re glad to have him a part of the Chiefs.”

The question remains whether both sides will be able to come to an agreement on an extension. The two sides didn’t appear to be close to an agreement ahead of the 2019 season. This was the
statement released by his agents at the onset of training camp:

“He knows his value and if he has to play out his deal in order to reach free agency, then that’s what he will do. For now, he’s focused on winning a Super Bowl for Kansas City.”

Roundup: Damien Williams questionable for ‘MNF’ | NFL

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid told the media on Saturday that running back Damien Williams missed Saturday’s practice as he was “excused for a personal situation.”

Reid added Williams “should” travel with the team for the game, but the team announced he was questionable.

Defensive end
Emmanuel Ogbah (pectoral), defensive end Alex Okafor (ankle) and tight end Blake Bell (ankle) are out for Monday’s game against the Chargers. Cornerback Kendall Fuller (thumb) is questionable.

A positive for the
Chiefs is that starting offensive linemen Eric Fisher (groin) and Laurent Duvernay-Tardif (right ankle) were full participants this past week and are expected to play.

Eric Fisher, Laurent Duvernay-Tardif Set for Return to Chiefs Lineup | Chiefs Digest

The Chiefs appear ready to welcome back left tackle Eric Fisher and right guard Laurent Duvernay-Tardif to the lineup on Monday night against the Los Angeles Chargers.

“I thought they did a good job,” Reid said of the duo’s work in practice this week. “They worked in and did well, did everything we asked them to do.”

To find the last time the Chiefs opened a game with the starting offensive line they started the season with, one must go all the way back to the Week 2 contest at Oakland. Fisher left that game after four snaps, and the Chiefs have juggled a myriad of injuries along the offensive line.

Just watched the video of Dabo Swinney greeting and time for a young fan, gave me goosebumps, those are special moments and inspired efforts.

ABQ. I’m going to Albuquerque for the week and as I recall there’s one or two dudes from there that frequent this site. Is there a Chiefs-friendly place to watch the game in ABQ?

Your motel room?

With a pitcher of Bloody Marys?

From a couple months ago, I would assume people go there every gameday.

Check out Chiefs Fans of ABQ! On Facebook if you have it. They meet up at a BWW by the interstate.

Thanks everyone!

I checked for comparative stats on T. J. Hockenson vs Noah Fant this year (out of curiosity and because I picked Fant for the Packers over Hockenson in AG’s fun first round draft back in the off-season). After nine games played (both played all nine) it looks like they’re very close with T. J. having a slight edge in overall performance and fantasy points but this was a shallow dive on just one site by me.

Nosing slightly deeper: Irv Smith (Vikes) is up there with T.J. and Noah, then a drop-off to Dawson Knox and Foster Moreau, then a big drop-off to the remaining rookie TEs. Just a curiosity side-bar but maybe some are interested,

Really unfortunate to hear about Tua

Agreed. But it also why NFL teams should never tank for a specific prospect.

Tomorrow’s game has the feel of a playoff contest. Tha dolts must be desperate to climb back in the AFC West race, the Chiefs need a win and need to show their D and ST are capable. With the bye coming up we don’t want to go into it on a losing note. This should be one helluva game.

Damien Williams not playing might be the best case scenario for the Chiefs today. Get McCoy and Darrell Williams those carries.

And a few for Darwin Thompson?

No fumbles yet for Darwin!

Has shady suddenly learned how to carry a football?

Is anybody out there? Just nod if you can hear me.
