SNF Game Thread: Vikings at Cowboys

The ultimate “meh” Sunday Night Football matchup, the Minnesota Vikings travel to the Big D to take on the annually over-hyped Dallas Cowboys.

The Vikings look to bounce back after giving up a walk off win to Harrison Butker and the Kansas City Chiefs in week 9. They travel to Dallas to challenge the overrated and underperforming Dak Prescott. The Vikings were hot prior to last week’s contest and the Cowboys look like a team that could win or lose literally any game without reason. The Cowboys are essentially the Chargers of the NFC, talked up every year but never delivering. I’ll be reservedly rooting for the Vikings to spite the talking heads who seem to think anyone gives a shit about the Cowboys…

Who are you rooting for tonight Arrowhead Guys?

Toub’s time is up. He’s historically been a great ST coach, but they’ve been absolutely awful this year. I wouldn’t mind seeing him gone tomorrow.

Who needs footwork when you can throw a perfect pass suspended in mid-air?

BleedingRedAndGold

Reminded me of Poe’s TD pass.

And still can’t win a game against a bad team. Incredible.

I filled out my first job application in over 22 years the other day. The state is hiring for the same job that I currently hold in the private sector. I’m a little leery of working for the government but the pay and benefits are much better and I wouldn’t have to manage a bunch of idiots I didn’t hire.

BleedingRedAndGold

Best of luck to you, then.

Loses don’t bother me like they used to. I was pissed for like 5 minutes and then I found something better to do.

My son got upset, but I just shook my head in disgust then started playing with the kids

Young kids are great for putting trivial things in perspective.

OT. The NFL stadiums with the highest maximum capacity ranked from highest to lowest:

https://geoshen.com/posts/nfl-stadiums-ranked-by-seating-capacity

There are eight college stadiums that have higher capacity than the highest capacity of any NFL stadium.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_American_football_stadiums_by_capacity

FYI… Arrowhead is number six on the NFL list, and number 26 on the college, NFL list. This means that at least 20 college stadiums have a higher seating capacity than Arrowhead.

My negative rant for the week. But at least it has some good gifs in the comments that I didn’t insert properly in the original post.

The whole 10 second runoff thing at the end of the game is weird. Caught the end of the Steelers/Rams game. Steelers were up, had the ball and trying to kill the clock. They committed some penalty, but the ref mentioned “the 10 second runoff would not apply.”
Well no shit. They had the ball and WERE TRYING TO RUN THE CLOCK OUT. Got to be the dumbest “penalty” out there, the 10 second runoff.

Watching Cook run reminds me of having Hunt back there. We let a pretty damn good player loose because TMZ over sensationalized a minor incident and he was too stupid to just fess up in the first place

BleedingRedAndGold

A. While a minor incident was sensationalized, it wasn’t just one, and that was the most minor of them – and they didn’t stop after he signed with Cleveland, but only after he got into trouble yet again. Whether he’s gotten clear of his former entourage, i don’t know, but he better have, or he’ll slide back into the same old ways.

B. He was so stupid as to think he could lie to everyone on the Chiefs staff, repeatedly, and get away with it. That’s a bit more than “too stupid to fess up”, IMO. He attempted to cover his incidents up, and lying to his coaches and Clark Hunt was a part and parcel of that attempt.

Steelers beating the Rams to go to 5-4…if we don’t hold off the Raiders, we’re looking to be in a battle for the wild card.

Haven’t you heard? AFC North is gonna send three,

Jdklks
Jdklks

If you’re not seriously worried, I wonder what NFL you’re watching. Could be two from the North, East, or South.

legal_kush
legal_kush

Why worry?
We either win the division, or we don’t. If we do not, does it really matter? Let’s face it. The Ravens suck because Lamar Jackson, right? The Browns beat the Bills, who can only be a wild card. The Colts just lost to Miami.
So you think the Raiders are the class of the division, or is it the Chargers, again?

Jdklks
Jdklks

It matters because we might not make the playoffs? “The Ravens suck because Lamar Jackson.” That’s hilarious. They are the best team in the AFC right now and it’s not particularly close.

legal_kush
legal_kush

Sorry.
The point is it makes no sense to worry about the Steelers or any other wild card wanna be.
We either win the West or we don’t.
The Ravens aren’t worried and they have a RUNNING BACK at QB or so I’m told.
The Patriots aren’t worried and their QB is on Social Security.
The AFC South winner isn’t worried because they can ALL beat the Chiefs (except the Jags).
So why are we worried about the fucking Steelers? They can’t win the West.
There. Spelt it out for ya.

Jdklks
Jdklks

Yeah, the assumption that we win the West is bold at this point. Or maybe you’re saying only worry about the Raiders. Okay: I’m worried about the Raiders. Thanks for spelling it out.

Jayhawks_6872

Ok but we’re not losing the division though, if you are truly worried about Derek Carr winning the division over mahomes then I truly pity you sweet summer child

Sudden

Or West

BleedingRedAndGold

I am, at most, a little worried. Lose the next one and I’ll worry, but for now what seriously worries me is getting through the next week with all the Chiefs who are going to bash on our own players, or complain about things that were never going to happen, like contracts they hate (and therefore the player’s even more hated, and they wait with bated breath to jump on that player’s next mistake, real or (more likely) perceived, which will “prove” their point, then lather, rinse, and repeat) or Erving playing like a top starting LT, which he ain’t.

I’d say “to each, their own”, but in their case it’s more a case of “to eat their own”.

Yeah I tend to disappear after losses. Not so much because I only want to sing praises, but the irrational venom that gets spewed is tiresome.

BleedingRedAndGold

I think every fanbase has a few of those, but ours, if not more numerous, seem more virulent over less than most other fanbases. I blame the Smith Wars for that, because that was driven by irrational passions and established that hating on players who were not bad, just not “good enough” to suit some folks was a good thing. At least to the nattering nabobs of negativity, but now there are those using that same flawed “logic”.

There are mistakes in every game, by virtually every player – even Mahomes, as we saw today – so anyone who wants to can ferret out those mistakes, add some convenient statistics while claiming that contrary statistics don’t count, and declare their conclusion sound. To the point they get upset by those who point out their flawed reasoning. I.e. they internet argue.
