Did something happen to Yelder? He had 2 early catches, but only 5 snaps.

Tarkus

He’s the 3rd TE. I think it was just a weird set of circumstances that led to him getting those two catches, one right after the other. Credit to him for taking advantage, though.

Berserker

Man, I don’t really like how many snaps Jones and Clark got. Seems like Dlinemen should be rotated more often than that, even if they’re the star players, unless they’re Dontari Poe.

Big Men – should never go above 60%

#95 – 300 ish
pushing on 1 or 2 men that are 300 ish

Anyone who’s a gym rat…
go flip a HUGE tractor tire – over & over & over & over — body breaks down

but, it is what it is..
Chiefs D coaches – need to keep track & rotate/rotate/rotate

Berserker

Thank Chiefus Pringle got that third snap.

Strange Frank Clark played 64 snaps. I really dont remember him being out there that much.

Imagine a world where the Chiefs get gashed on the ground two weeks in a row,
And the best run stopping LB the Chiefs have only gets 5% of the snaps.
You don’t have to imagine it, its this world.

what is clear to me is that the chiefs defense needs some much needed smarter DB’s. each of the lions scoring plays it was clear pre-snap where the ball was going to go. The attacked the middle of the field much of the time in the red zone because our Safties outside of TM was very easy to move out, and it created instant voids. I even had the time before the “didn’t control TD” to look my wife in the eye and say they are going to throw in the middle because 49 will clear out and not drop back into the void fast enough. These guys have got to smarten up.

Berserker

On that laser-rocket to Golladay in the middle of the endzone, could you tell who Mathieu was pissed at? Looked like he tried pretty hard to direct his frustration at the universe in general, but I had the impression that he really wanted to yell at somebody in particular.

I was wondering that as well. Stafford threaded that pass between 4 defenders. I am not certain but I think he might have been pissed at Sorenson.

Berserker

Yeah that was my first thought (because Cut Sorensen!), but thinking it coulda been the MLB as well, or maybe even somebody who screwed up a zone blitz.

Anyhow, in that area of the field, on a passing down, obviously SOMEbody should just be parked in the middle of the field to eliminate what is literally the easiest throwing lane that a QB can have, but nobody was.

I really feel like Wilson didn’t drop deep enough into coverage but it could have easily been Sorenson blowing the coverage. EB still available? Just kidding … for now.

So, next draft at the end of round 1…. high-end interior Olineman, or high-end interior LB?

ElPasoJason

I think this is all on the LB group man. A lot of the gaps get sealed and the blocks get eaten like they should. We are missing when we crash down and that’s generally on the LBs IMO

Berserker

I’m tending to agree. I never valued “great” ILBs very highly, but man, sure does seem to make a difference when they absolutely suck.

Unfortunately CB will have to be addressed first, since we won’t have any on the roster at that point. I take LB over OL though, just out of desperation. Watching the DAL LBs play was a perfect example of what the Chiefs defense is missing.

Berserker

I hope we re-sign Breeland, I like him so far. And if Pat Pete would decide to spend his twilight years in KC collecting a few Championships, well that’d be just peachy.

MLB.

IMO it was Sorenson. He vacated that area and left it wide open.

Berserker

Who do they take off the field though? I think Wilson seems to play pretty well most of the time (or at least comparable to Ragland), and Hitchens obviously has incriminating photos from Andy Reid’s Above Ground Sex Pool.

Ogbah with more snaps than Okafor — that’s a change

Kpass with less snaps than past

X. Williams with more snaps this week, than normal

Nieman with a few more than previous games

stjoechief

Ogbah playing his way up the depth chart.

Okafor with a sack.

Ogbah. With a tackle for loss

What I saw

Hell I wish we had one more Okafor/Ogbah and one less Clark (well more so his contract and our 1st back)

I think Clark is getting a bad rap. I think he’s been double-teamed and concentrated on and thus sacks by all the other members. Okafor, Nnadi and Jones all had sacks

Berserker

He is good at dealing with people!

Rec’d, but only for the Office Space reference. For $100,000,000.00 and a 1st he needs to beat a double team.

Exactly.

CJ eats up just as many double teams if not more.

MidKan Chiefs Lifer
MidKan Chiefs Lifer

This is where I’m at. Is Mack just given free range to the QB I doubt it but he makes his presence known either way (the pay is fairly close). Jones is killing double teams and if they single him look the fuck out.

Clark is paid to beat double teams or at the very least make teams pay when they single him. I’m positive he was not doubled every snap yet he didnt show up in the broadcast. I think he will prove to be a good player, but I dont see the value yet.

(Veach I’m looking at you)

Berserker

What could end up being really messed up, is that the two alternatives that fans discussed most as far as Veach bringing in new (cheaper) pass rushers, were probably Clowney and Ansah. And Seattle replaced Clark with not one but BOTH of those guys…. Depending on those three guys’ future performances, that could end up looking really, really bad for either us or Seattle.

Berserker

Niemann got a few extra snaps because he came in when Hitchens got hurt.

Somewhat related note – I’m usually glad when I see Niemann get on the field, but on that last Hail Mary series they really shoulda had Watts out there instead.

tsv0728
tsv0728

Why on earth you would play any LBs on a Hail Mary is beyond me. It should be a specialized group, like the hands team for onsides.

Berserker

Yeah. If they’re worried about sneaky underneath passes to RBs, well, seems to me a safety should be better suited to chasing those down in open space than most any linebacker.

tsv0728
tsv0728

I think Okafor got dinged up, so he might have just been unable to play his usual % of snaps. I’m not sure though. Ogbah has definitely been taking more over time.
