Tyreek Hill left Sunday’s game with a shoulder injury, here’s what we know about the injury and his time table to return.

Tyreek Hill left yesterday’s game with a shoulder injury and did not return. We later found out he was transported to a local hospital for a dislocated clavical. His time table to return is questionable, this thread will serve as a tracker for any info we can find on his status.

We will update this thread as new information becomes available.

This player missed exactly 6 weeks after a similar injury. Not sure the exact type, but in was to the sternoclavicular joint. He had surgery though.

Also kept playing for a little bit after it happened because the ball came to him.

First time posting but I do know something about these injuries. I am a trauma ortho doc so I can say these are really rare. The main issue going forward is gonna be stability in the joint so he doesn’t redislocate. What we don’t know is did it completely dislocate posteriorly or was it subluxed -meaning it slid back but not all the way out. The worse the position posteriorly the more unstable. The good news is it didn’t require surgery so hopefully he didn’t completely tear all the structures around it. As far as time frame which is the big question in my experience which is not with superstar athletes it’s usually six weeks or more and in some clinical examples I looked up it was 3-4 months. Hopefully with all the stuff they have to help speed recovery it can be on the shorter side. But the joint has to be completely stable before he will be release to football contact
Hope this helps and here’s hoping I’m wrong and he’s back in 3-4 weeks

Welcome aboard doc! Thanks for that information right there. I wonder how much Tyreek being in great shape before the injury helps with his recovery?

It should help some with all the muscular attachments on the collar bone will help pull it forward and not posterior

Thanks for the info. Feel free to give your thoughts on any other injury stuff going forward. In fact feel free to give your thoughts on anything, they can’t be any worse than mine and everyone else’s.

This Tyreek injury has given me a fascinating insight into the mind of the sports’ fan. It is absolutely insane how people can completely throw rational thought and objectivity out the window over a stupid game. I can’t count the number of people I saw on various social media sites yesterday who were absolutely THRILLED that Tyreek got hurt. There were also plenty of people who accused Chris Jones of intentionally driving Foles into the ground to purposely hurt him. All because the Chiefs are better than whatever team they follow or are a threat to that team’s success. I know that a lot of it is heat of the moment and intended to get under the skin of rival fans but it’s sickening to read. The internet seems to bring out the worst (in) people.

For the intentional hurting, I feel like if a player does it once, it’s an accident. If a player does it twice, it’s intentional.

Most of the people who are happy Tyreek got injured believe his abused his son, despite the evidence against it. It’s really just a bunch of ignorance.

If you look @ the Chris Jones Hit … He Rode him to the Ground ,but Offset his Full weight w / At Least One if not Both Arms

This is quote from Sammy in an NFL.com article. No idea if he is just speculating, or has first hand info. “I think he has an intricate part. We’re gonna have to find a way to win in the next six, seven weeks with him being out. I think we have the coaches to do that.”

It wouldn’t be surprising if its longer than the expected. If its 2 weeks its 4 with Reid. If its 5 weeks eta than its probably 7 with Reid.

It looks like reinjury would be very serious, let’s give him all the time he needs before contact. Hang in there Tyreek. We love you, man.

Tarkus

Doubtful the team knew how long he was going to be out, never mind Sammy. I imagine he was just speculating.

What is it with Chiefs giving out big contracts…..

5 weeks seems like an eternity. Mecole needs to convince Pat he is trustworthy stat. Will Ramsey get fined for the kick? Kareem didn’t kick that girl very hard, and he still got in all kinds of trouble….

CHIEFSandSABRES

Gotta hurt. Not something I would want to go through, and I hope Tyreek gets back to 100% health. Seeing how he trained in the offseason, I would figure it would be better to have an injury when you are in tip top shape versus being outta shape. I expect him to heal up quickly and completely before Andy runs him back out there.

Let’s say Tyreek is out 5 weeks. The schedule is @Raiders, Ravens (H), @Lions, Colts (H), Texans (H). Tyreek returns for Denver TNF.

I believe these are all winnable games the trap at I think is @ Lions. We have enough weapons to get pass these teams without Hill. We just need to stay on top of things. Our biggest struggles will be on defense it appears. We didn’t really attack the Jags much from my eye. I think we need to have more pressure with our front 4 to really beat Ravens and Colts. I think we can handle Texans at home.

I honestly won’t be super worried about the Defense until it gets to Week 4-5 and the same things are happening. The starting Defense played like a total of 10 snaps together for the ENTIRE preseason. They need time to see things together, work on communication, and get a sense of how each other plays. Time will tell.

Some good speculation in the game threads about the defense more just playing contain against an unknown QB known to be mobile. We’ll probably never know for sure, but would explain why they seemed less aggressive.

What? No vague quotes from Aaron “I can’t talk about that or provide anything of substance” Borgman?

Right. With lots of silly references to “the player” as if he is somehow above mentioning the actual name of the person he’s talking about.
