Update: Here’s a look at the contract courtesy of OverTheCap

Albert Breer released the details of Tyreek Hills contract today.

How do you guys feel about this contract? It seems very team friendly. We don’t have any information on an special language regarding off field activities but I think it is safe to assume there is some.

The only thing I don’t like is restructuring the bad Hitchens deal. Looks like we are going to be stuck with him for the duration of his contract. It seems other teams (Steelers and 49ers for example) are able to structure contracts so they can get out of them in the later years without large dead cap charges. In 2021, the Chiefs would still have a 5.6M dead cap charge for Hitchens.

Tyreek Hill on a discount probably shouldn’t have been expected. But, offseason happened.

I’ll take it! This is a great deal! And good money overall for Ty!

it is also short enough that he could still get another payday before he is done.

This doesn’t feel like a reach, good job BV!. I can’t believe Reek agreed to this actually, especially with Rosenhaus as an agent. He must REALLY appreciate the Clarks and team standing by him, from the draft on through the latest garbage. Drew may have gotten feedback from the football community that was less than ideal. Please play more than JH and EB did the first year after their mega contracts!

I’m starting to change my mind with regards to how I view our GM. The team must have stood behind Reek during all the BS this offseason. I love Reek and hope he plays his entire hall of fame career with KC.

Wow. It appears as though it’s really designed to be played out so Hill gets a shot a being a Chief for life. If Veach can do the next couple deals like this I’ll have to change my opinion of his performance.

Wow. Super team-friendly. Chiefs Kingdom loves you, Tyreek. Get well.

That’s a great deal. They pushed some of that money into 2019, but they should have done more given our cap space.

Almost like they plan on signing another player 😉

Yes, we are all assuming its Jones. How they structure Jones contract will be interesting because if they still leave meat on the bone for 2019 then they might be thinking of trading for a guy and absorbing that cap hit.

Im still assuming Jones is gone in a year or two.
They are not happy with Corner Position, nor should they be.

You mean like how Sammy Watkins is sure to be released ???

Tony Sommer

I was on the trade Chris Jones bandwagon, but with these numbers I think we might be ok keeping him.

Tony Sommer

My projections were $20M per year after 2019, so I’m very happy with $16.2M and $15.4M.

16 and 15 are the ‘cash’ or base salary numbers, not the full cap hits those years.

Tony Sommer

Ugh I hate when they say it that way. Why do I care when he actually gets his money? I just want the cap hits.
