Isn’t interesting how ESPN and New England fanbase (and most of NFL fandom) were certain that Tyreek should be released or suspended from team immediately but those same folks are ho hum about AB getting to practice?

I’m not convicting the guy but it’s laughable to witness the “do as I say, not as I do” around Patriots handling………..I think I heard “Let’s let things play out” a thousand time today…..Weird this wasn’t the reaction to allegations in flyover country

Leaf
Leaf

Their argument would be, hill was found guilty (innocent people don’t plea) once before so he lost any benefit of the doubt and AB is crazy, but not a sex fend.

alsi2
alsi2

innocent people agree to plea deals ALL THE TIME…why? because the risk of losing even though innocent is far worse than the plea deal. that is what has been said about Hill’s plea deal. he didn’t have any money, couldn’t afford a defense, and since he was basically presented with 2 scenarios, he took the least risky: 1) try to defend himself with no money, and if he won, all is well, if he lost, he would not only go to prison, but he’d most likely never get a shot at the NFL; 2) take the plea deal which didn’t require money and deal with the consequences, but not lose his shot at the NFL.

Since this ordeal showed up this year, a lot came out about that plea deal and that is where I first heard about that situation. Hill apparently has said that is the case, and apparently people who knew Hill at the time corroborate that Hill wasn’t abusive and it was the other way around in that relationship.

I don’t have links to provide you with, but do a bit of searching on this site and I think it was here that I read most of it. Some of it I think came through Tweets by Seth Keysor who writes for the Athletic and is also a lawyer with experience with family court legalities. I’m not real firm on where I heard all the bits and pieces, sorry about that. But I believe it was Seth who pointed out that innocent people take plea deals almost routinely because they’re afraid of the risks involved of somehow losing a case when they know their innocent but a seasoned prosecutor might be able to get them convicted through their skills. It happens.

legal_kush
legal_kush

Just to pick a nit, the Hill situation was an active police investigation at least for a while, while the AB situation is a civil lawsuit with no police reports at any time during the case. The burden of proof is dissimilar no matter your (the public) personal feelings about either situation.

alsi2
alsi2

I don’t know that we know that there have been no police investigations on this AB situation. That seems to be an assumption. I notice the NFL has said that they are interested at this time in finding out whether there have been any police reports filed in the past for these alleged rapes. So, the NFL is clearly not assuming there have been no police reports nor do they know there have not been any police reports filed in the past. They want to know if there have been or not. So…they don’t know one way or the other. I think that is a safe assumption to make at this point. We don’t know. It’s possible that there were but that the police didn’t have enough evidence to do anything further.

Greetings gentle folk of AG! I come with a link to share. It’s to a new Chiefs Discord channel.

If you’re not sure what discord is, you’re not alone, but its time to get up to speed! 🙂 Its simply a super awesome place to chat (like a live chat.. like the ole days, but a newer hipper way) about any topic. So we created a Chiefs channel where anyone and everyone can join and chat live about the chiefs.. as well as post links to news and articles and all that good stuff. Its NOT a competitor to AG.. its a companion. And also an experiment.

I’m hoping just a few brave souls give it a whirl so we can see if it’s something lots of people will enjoy or if its just never going to catch on.

Anyway, here’s the link 🙂 https://discord.gg/PD93WDb

MasterChief

I use Discord on occasion for gaming with friends.

Is this an old-style chat or are you talking about actually talking into a mic? That might be fun on game day!

TravisKelce
TravisKelce

BOTH actually. Mainly its an old school chat room platform. Where there are different ‘rooms’ aka ‘channels’ to chat in. But there is also a voice channel that could be used for that exact thing on gamedays (or any other time).

It might be fun to have a bunch of us cheering and jeering.

Love the idea, but the link is borked. Make sure to check for unlimited invites/time so the link doesn’t expire

BleedingRedAndGold

And how do you find the group using the discord app rather than a web page?

CHIEFSandSABRES

Anyone else having issues staying logged in on here? I don’t know if the website hates me, my internet is garbage, or what but it takes me 3 or 4 attempts of actually logging in, to get on the site, then when I finally do get logged in the articles are not updating for me. Anyone else or just me and my internet?

Remembering all the victims and heroes of 9/11.

So many went in, knowing they wouldn’t make it back out. So many anonymous heroes who, when you told them they were heroes, would downplay it as “just doing a job.”

So many went in, not knowing what they could do (especially in Tower 1, as the fire was above the 78th floor) but wanting to help all the same.

comment image

343 from FDNY didn’t make it out (although this man, Mike Kehoe, did; he got out about 30 seconds before the North Tower collapsed), but it’s hard to say how many hundreds of people would not have made it out had the first responders not been doing their jobs.

Source for Kehoe story: http://articles.latimes.com/2001/sep/22/news/mn-48541

AB is innocent until proven guilty. Tyreek was not allowed to be with the Chiefs until his case was resolved. Should be the same with AB and the Patriots.

slackator

that was a Chiefs decision though not a league one, so that would be up to them to decide and as we have all seen Patriots dont believe sex crimes are that big of a deal so dont count on it

Z00keeper

Suspending guys every time someone makes an allegation would be a recipe for chaos and just generally bad policy. IF any of the allegations are substantiated though (like jerking off on her without her consent), they could put him on the commissioner’s exempt list while they finish their investigation.

I’m not sure the Chiefs would have suspended him during the season. They knew he wouldn’t miss anything important. I could be wrong but it’s easy to suspend someone from OTAs

Five Teams that looked good
1. NE Patriots – They looked very good in all aspects of the game.
2. Dallas Cowboys – They laid a beat down on the Giants.
3. Tennessee Titans – The Brown Hype Train has slowed down.
4. Houston Texans – Watson looks better but the offensive line needs to protect.
5. Oakland Raiders – They better enjoy their one game momentum ride.

Five Teams that looked bad
1. Pittsburgh Steelers – They looked slow and bad and Big Ben looked like he did not care.
2. Cleveland Browns – Mayfield did not look like the second best young quarterback.
3. Denver Broncos – Vic is not going to last long with that effort on Monday.
4. Detroit Lions – They could not put away the hapless Cardinals.
5. Miami Dolphins – Lamar Jackson looked like Peyton Manning against the Fins.

CHIEFSandSABRES

Add to the look good
Minnesota. They really shocked many folks by putting together a heck of a game.

Luckily for the Browns, the Jets game us probably their best chance for a W until about Week Six.

We live in a crazy yet amazing world. Our doorbell just rang, and it was one of our neighbors from the street. He borrowed my Milwaukee impact one time back before summer, did what he was going to do with it and brought it back. We bs’d for a bit, he said he was going to work at the Pentagon in a few months and I literally haven’t spoken to him since. Couple waves here and there as we pass each other.
Dude just dropped $60 worth of Boston Market off, said “enjoy the meal on me.” And walked away. We all went over as a family and pleaded with him to come eat with us, and he said “no just wanted y’all to enjoy a meal on me.”

Also, gotta love this headline from nfl dot com

Belichick addresses Antonio Brown sexual assault allegations

“On Antonio’s situation, both Antonio and his representatives have made statements and so I’m not going to be expanding on any of those,” Belichick said. “They are what they are. We’ve looked into the situation, we’re taking it very seriously. All the way through the organization. I’m sure there are questions, but I’m not going to be entering any discussion about that.”

“I’m not going to be expanding on the statements that have already been given,” Belichick said on the matter.”

“As a rape victim of Antonio Brown, deciding to speak out has been an incredibly difficult decision,” Taylor said. “I have found strength in my faith, my family, and from the accounts of other survivors of sexual assault. Speaking out removes the shame that I have felt for the past year and places it on the person responsible for my rape.”

Look, I’m not trying to sound like an asshole or a ‘victim blamer,’ but how can you be sexually assaulted three times by the same person over a multi year span, and then have a statement like that? You can’t shift ALL the shame and blame onto him. If it happened to you once, certainly. But 3 times? You travelled to him each time? Does anyone take any responsibility these days? It’s not like he was hunting her down.

Their relationship goes back to college… My take on why she’d go back even as alleged.

First time was a stolen kiss. Not cool but hey, they have history.
Second time was a jack in the back. That’s really not cool and so 8th grade. But AB’s her client and $ source, and (eye-roll) it’s AB. And now they have more history.
Third time is full on rape. That’s a game-changer.

Obviously, different people and situations cause the first two to be viewed across a wide spectrum from really bad to it was a joke in really poor taste.

I think my 8th grade was waaayyyy different than yours.

Remembering 9/11… I know that the day is over, almost, and has been full of remembrances by the US and the world at large.

I hope everyone took a moment today to remember the victims.

Tony Sommer

Would you prefer the team you’re a fan of be more like the Royals, who suck 90% of the time but win championships every once in a while, or the Chiefs, who are pretty consistently good but don’t do much in the playoffs and haven’t won a championship in recent memory?

Tony Sommer

Also this.

slackator

Chiefs, even though I hate the settling for mediocrity that I feel this franchise had done for the previous 30 years, I absolutely hate checking out of a sport entirely not even a 10th of the way in like Ive done for the majority of my life with the Royals. I actually like baseball and the Royals but I cant bring myself to watching them when I know the season is over by my birthday (April 23rd). Thats the one good thing about Dish Network and Fox Sports ongoing fight is its given me an excuse to not tune in, although they better get that shit fixed by basketball season cause Im gonna want to watch the new look tanking Thunder

ProfChesterTQ
ProfChesterTQ

My answer…
a) Three-n-Out PUNTS are the most boring thing in sports… so give me the consistent competitive team
b) since I will never get a Championship Ring personally… give me the consistent competitive team so as to leave me with something to cheer more weeks out of the year than naught

~ is there not an option for BOTH (ie a Dynasty — see Patrick Mahomes 😀 )

legal_kush

Chiefs.
The NFL is so much more fun to wager.
The NBA is ridiculously easy to wager, but SO boring to watch, it takes the fun out if it.
Baseball is somewhere in-between.
