Was just looking at the Colts’ box score to see who their presumed starter would be (I guess Chip Kelly), and then noticed across the page that the Bears used two QBs in tonight’s game against the Colts: T. Bray and C. Daniel. Wow…I knew the Bears had some former Chiefs on the roster, but I didn’t realize those two were among them.

EAFOX

Watching a First Things First episode from 2017 where they are talking about Irsay saying Luck’s injury is in his head. They ripped Irsay but was Luck even contemplating retirement back then.

ForeverRanger91

Luck is a smart guy but those kinds of thoughts can get into anyone’s head.

Whoever leaked the Luck retirement is an asshole. I am not going to put any blame on Schefter because that is his job.

alsi2
alsi2

it does seem to me that it was someone from ESPN…I was getting popups on my phone from my ESPN app and I didn’t see that first reporting popping up on other sports sites at first…and then the one or two that I did notice were referencing ESPN as their source.

Is Schefter an ESPN guy? I really don’t know who he is. I only know a handful of national sports media names, and then I know a couple of the Chiefs beat writers’ names, including the female KC Star Chiefs player-beater/abuser who shall not be named.

ForeverRanger91

It was leaked to Schefter by someone.

Would we be willing to roll the dice and trade Henne to Indy? Doubt that we would cause neither Shurmur nor Litton inspire confidence as a backup but it is something to consider.

slackator
slackator

I would because Im still not a fan of Henne as the 1st backup. If hes there strictly for film then make him #3 and roll with Litton as your backup. I have zero confidence in Henne helping in any way if the absolute worst case were to happen, with this team hes not going to suck bad enough to get a high draft pick, hes not good enough to take a team to the playoffs, and hes to old and known to get any type of Reid return in a trade.

Reading Brisketts Jaden Smith quality tweets, is he the Ohio State QB who famously “didnt go to college to play school”?

CHIEFSandSABRES

I want to wake up tomorrow and see they signed Kaepernick.

EAFOX

OR traded for Dak Prescott so they can pay him 40 million a year.

CHIEFSandSABRES

Do it. They have to make a splash somewhere.

KC Dude (A.K.A Zif)

Geno Smith is looking good for Seattle. The Colts could be making a call right now to see if the Seahawks are open to trading him.

another bad joke!

Aren’t we all?

EAFOX

He could have collected more staying on their roster – could have been placed on injured reserve. Colts might have been okay paying him for a year, letting him get away from the game, and rolling the dice to see if his mind came back to football.

Game highlights on YouTube:

EAFOX

I declare the Jacksonville Jaguars the AFC SOUTH favorite and Nick Foles will be hailed a hero.

EAFOX

Colts will probably roll forward with Jacoby Brissett. No one worth mentioning is available to sign and does not appear to be much out there for a trade which would be a huge upgrade over Brissett. Will look for new quarterback in draft or maybe try to get Derek Carr when Gruden shows him the door.

Tony Sommer

Eli would be a good fit, but the Giants are too dumb to take advantage of this situation and get something for him while they still can.

EAFOX

Colts are more of a dink and dunk team – I don’t think that is Eli’s forte. Perfect for Alex Smith if healthy.

slackator
slackator

Wouldnt want Smith to go there if healthy, he has a long history of beating KC in the playoffs

EAFOX

Rec, good sir.

KC Dude (A.K.A Zif)

May be able to talk Gruden into giving the Colts Carr and a 1st for a bag of chips and a conditional 7th.

Trade Shurmur for a draft pick?

EAFOX

Shurmur is not going to unseat Brissett.

slackator
slackator

Shurmur is never going to make the roster so might as well try and get something for him

EAFOX

He looks thoroughly whipped.

BleedingRedAndGold

Look of a man who’d been forced to stop deluding himself and actually see the harsh truth, and at the cost of letting down a lot of people in the process.

EAFOX

His injury is certainly not as bad as what he went thru before. His mental status has taken the biggest hit. He remarked that he could not go thru the rehab process again. Bottom line – and this is not a criticism – he did not love football enough to work his way thru the injuries.

Tony Sommer

Agreed that it’s perfectly reasonable. He can live very comfortably for the rest of his life without having to work ever again, and has had a ton of injuries. I don’t blame him at all for retiring.

EAFOX

The sad thing is that this injury does not seem to be as debilitating as some he has suffered in the past.

Tony Sommer

I think people underestimate the mental toll these injuries take on players. The most serious injury I’ve ever had is a sprained ankle, but it was still a pretty big annoyance. I’m sure having to constantly grind through these injuries takes a toll on you.

EAFOX

His mind was shot before this injury. Luck is simply mentally wiped out.

BleedingRedAndGold

I still maintain that Smith held himself back as a passer due to the shoulder injury and the ferris-go-coaster he had to go through in ‘Frisco. Nothing big enough that he or anyone he knows would be able to see, but just enough doubt to restrict him on the higher-risk passes.

EAFOX

I disagree. I think it is Smith’s nature to go the safe route when the chips are down. Reid certainly got the best out of him – he never was a great deep passer – before or after injury.

That is the picture of a man who finally saw the light. Shitty OL management ruined a promising career. Luck might have been one of the happiest QB’s around. I can’t remember a time where he bitched about a bad hit or anything like that. As a football fan, it is sad to see someone who could have been an all time great retire. As a Chiefs fan who remembers the 2013 playoff game all too well, see ya. Unlike Manning, I harbor no ill will towards Luck and that last sentence is aimed towards the Colts as a whole.

They also have the worst surface in the NFL. It’s basically concrete.

somehow the links and the descriptions got messed up and these aren’t quite right…they’re off by one description, so e.g. the “Defense stops the run on 3rd down” is actually the one above it “Clark sacks Jimmy G.” The first link is actually the Mahomes-Williams 62 yard TD. Also, the bottom description is missing the link. I noticed this when the post was awaiting admin approval, but the edit feature showed everything correctly. It’s only once it is posted that it gets messed up. Oh well. These are still replays of some fun plays and you might enjoy checking them out. I recommend Adblocker for this site, so if that bothers you, just watch the YouTube replays (I didn’t see some of these available on YT fwiw). sorry for the mess…but the links that work might be worth your time.

EAFOX

Things that were good
1) Chiefs first team offense
2) Chiefs run defense
3) KPASS sack looked awesome
4) Linebacker play looked better
5) Hardman again

Things that were bad
1) All of our backup corners
2) Our regular corners were not on their game tonight
3) Thornhill looking like a rookie
4) Henne and the second offensive line
5) Bell killed a drive

Wow. Watching part of the Reich/Irsay/Ballard press conference, and Jim is clearly on something. Either too much to drink or something else, but he’s up there talking crazy.

KC Dude (A.K.A Zif)

With the Luck news, one has to wonder who is still out there that the Colts may be able to trade for? Will they just roll with their back up QB this year or make some sort of move?

HawaiiFiveOh
HawaiiFiveOh

Plenty of time for a lucrative trade if they want to make a move.

KC Dude (A.K.A Zif)

But who is there that they could trade for?

BleedingRedAndGold

Well, they were talking up how Litton was basically auditioning for 31 other teams there in the 4th quarter.

KC Dude (A.K.A Zif)

As a back up at best. Not ready for prime time.

BleedingRedAndGold

You know that and I know it, but desperation can add luster to the shabbiest of needs – to the point where you can talk yourself into a bad deal.

really? that’s funny…I was thinking the whole time that Litton was out there trying not to look good so maybe KC could stash him on the PS (if he’s eligible for that, I guess he is).

EAFOX

Worst game Litton has ever had.

alsi2
alsi2

exactly…did he have many or any long pass attempts tonight or were they all pretty much nickel and dime stuff?

EAFOX

Some mid level attempts – nobody on the field looked inspired.

alsi2
alsi2

of course not…they were all bummed out that we don’t get to play against Luck again haha

Sudden

They have a roster that is ready to compete. They should go all in on their former greatest player’s little brother and the archenemy of their nemesis, Tom Brady.

Speaking of which, hey Tom, take the fucking hint Andrew is giving you, buddy. It’s time for you to hang em up too.

EAFOX

Would they roll the dice with Kaepernick?

KC Dude (A.K.A Zif)

If they pull that trigger and it works out for them it just fuels the black listed from football talk. If I was the Colts GM I would pull the trigger because about a quarter of the starters and all the back ups should be just back ups.

Spider
Spider

Well, Kap is a backup at best too. Plus, he’s a terrible fit for Indy. Besides, his absolutely ginormous afro won’t fit through the locker room door; you’d have to remodel the facility to hire him or he’d turn around and sue for a hostile workplace.
