If Pollard hadn’t injured Brady, Pioli wouldn’t have had Cassel.

slackator

saw it, and Im not the least bit surprised, Pioli is a piece a shit

Severely Concussed
Severely Concussed

I believe he said that to Pollard, but my lack of trust in Pioli makes me think he had another reason to cut him.

upamtn

so Pioli cut one of the few decent players the team had for some imagined “revenge” …

Sudden
Sudden

I dunno if this is true or not nor do I really care. I won’t defend Pioli’s management and personnel decisions while here but I’ll defend him as a decent man. I met him personally in 2009 at big Charlie’s in Philly before the chiefs game there. He was friendly and approachable and I had both a nice chat with him and got a shirt signed by him, a shirt that to this day is one of my primary game day shirts. A few days later I wrote a fanpost at some chiefs page that a frequented between 2008-2018 about my gf having a tumor. Pioli reached out to the nice gentleman that founded that particular sports page, who reached out to me. He called me personally during that gf’s surgery to wish us the best. Years later, after a player murdered the mother of his child and then took his own life in the Arrowhead parking lot, in front of Pioli and Crennel, I emailed him. I’ve had the experience in my life of knowing someone who committed a national headline grabbing murder, of having this nagging feeling that you could’ve said or done something different in a single conversation to maybe helped dig out a soul on the verge of snapping and maybe saved a life. Pioli emailed back a couple days later while on the plane with Jamaal heading to the funeral for that murdered woman since that same woman was Jamaal’s wife’s cousin. There were signs being flown over the stadium on game days calling for his job, all while dealing with watching a man he knew fall apart… he could’ve felt resentful against chiefs fans generally and passed on replying altogether. But he didn’t. Pioli took shit for being standoffish with local traditional media and they shaped a narrative that painted him the devil. But look at how the local media is treating friendly and accessible Andy Reid and Tyreek Hill, insulting a man’s tragic loss and purposefully and deceitfully painting the scarlet letter on Hill. Maybe Pioli was right to be better acquainted w… Read more »

I saw another story about Pioli. It was told by a former Pioli player (was a Chief) of how when his career ended he intended to end his own life and Pioli personally helped the guy get the help he needed. So I believe Pioli is a decent human that was in over his head in KC. I mean Clark hired a coach before the GM, that say a lot.

It will be good to see you back. I read your previous updates, about the flooding and whatnot. Nasty sounding situation. Glad to hear that you are all right, as I suppose your family are as well, and hopefully no one you know lost their life or anything due to the floods…

KC Dude (A.K.A Zif)

One person I work with lost their home. I need to get current pictures of my work place. I can now see the USS Batfish from the admin trailer that is sitting in the admin parking area. Prior to the flood the USS Batfish was not visible. The flood waters picked it up off its base and carried it up a hill and into the trees next to where I work. I can now see the sub from the parking lot now. The river is still really high as well. The river used to be close to a half mile from the facility. It is still up high enough that it is just a few feet from the north fence of the plant.

Carson Wentz #96. That’s an…. interesting…. choice.

Mitch is 94 on the top 100. I got a feeling they’re going to have some pass rushers pretty high on this list. I think a guy that neutralizes a lot of those guys should be a little higher than that.

Tony Sommer

OL never gets love, especially at RT.

Mitch has had to deal with so many top pass rushers that he should be a lot higher rated.

Chickennpickles
Chickennpickles

Once, when we were moving, I picked up a plastic lawn chair (it was actually the very 1st thing I grabbed). I don’t know what I did, but I was in a weird position, leaning over the back of the chair when I picked it up. My lower back twinged pretty badly.
I still helped move, cause my wife and my friends would’ve killed me if I didn’t, but after we were done, I was screwed for like 4 or 5 days. I knew it was bad when we’d finished moving & I’d had around 9 or 10 beers & I was still in agony.

BoJest

I’ve tweet my back so bad I couldn’t even set up-right due to pressure pressing down on the injured area. I would have to slither out of my recliner and crawl on hands and knees to the bedroom.

Yeah, my dad have to have surgery to replace a slipped disc in his lower back. Anytime we’d be watching football & the announcers would say “So & so is playing with a slipped disc,” he’d lose his mind. After seeing how bad he was, I can’t imagine the kind of pain tolerance (even with shots) it takes to play with any type of major injury.

This is the same QB who refused to re-sign with KC because he didn’t want to compete with Cassel.

QuackTastic

He would’ve been practically guaranteed a starting spot with the chiefs but decided he preferred to be a straight backup to Romo. Kind of a puss move.

I mean I’d buy the jersey myself and mail it to him to autograph.

Yes, it would be weird. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it.

I guess I hadn’t noticed that before. It sounds really good on Beats.

Tony Sommer

I thought those House of Hoodies hoodies were really overpriced, but then I looked at other higher end hoodies elsewhere and they’re about the same price.

Also question, for people who regularly buy jerseys and other stuff with players names on it, why would you get anybody other than Mahomes at this point?

HawaiiFiveOh
HawaiiFiveOh

Because Sherman is my last name.

Tony Sommer

Admittedly I bought a Kelce jersey in the early part of the 2017 season, but that was only because they were cheap at Costco and the only other option was Smith.

ForeverRanger91
ForeverRanger91

It was also two sizes too small.

Nasrani
Nasrani

Because we outgrew our Derrick Thomas/Marcus Allen/Priest Holmes jerseys.

Tony Sommer

I mean why buy a Kelce or Hill over Mahomes? I know they’re great players as well, but Mahomes is the greatest.

HawaiiFiveOh
HawaiiFiveOh

I wouldn’t buy a jersey for any player on their rookie contract, Mahomes excluded. Jerseys are expensive. I want to make sure the player is sticking around.

Tony Sommer

Yeah, I’m cheap so I don’t buy jerseys anyway, but I’d want somebody who’s accomplished enough here that I’d still want to wear their jersey no matter what.

Berserker

Boerigter. #85.

Tony Sommer

If I was jersey shopping and couldn’t do Mahomes, I’d probably go Charles or Berry.

ForeverRanger91
ForeverRanger91

I bought my Berry jersey right after he was diagnosed with cancer. It is one of those nice stitched ones too. I think I was wearing it when we met up for the Rams game actually.

Berserker

Those are the exact two that I have. But I got them both for free, as gifts.

Precisely why my first Royals jersey was a Duffy one. Was fully prepared to dish out money for a Wade Davis one but then he was traded.

Nothing to be ashamed of there. I own both and will still wear them with pride.

Agreed. They did good time in KC so those are still good unless either of those guys knocked us out of SB contention. Until then, wear with pride!

Nasrani
Nasrani

Don’t get me wrong, I like Mahomes as much as the next guy. And I do have a Mahomes jersey.

I suppose for this upcoming year (based on last year’s performance) your argument makes sense, but I like to give players a couple of years before I buy their jerseys. As HawaiiFiveOh says, jerseys are expensive.

ForeverRanger91
ForeverRanger91

Only jersey I could see myself buying right now is a Honey Badger one. Other than that, maybe D-Rob but I would likely dish out the money and get a custom Gators one.

Berserker

Oooh, Mathieu jersey would be cool. Very boom/bust bet, there.

MasterChief

I got my Mahomes jersey for Christmas. 😀

ForeverRanger91
ForeverRanger91

I got it for Christmas his rookie year.

Chickennpickles
Chickennpickles

I guess I’m more of a history guy. I’d much rather have a Hasty, Marshall, Carter, DeBerg or Richardson jersey. Mahomes is great, but I’d like for people to know that I earned that jersey with a great deal of pain & disappointment. I still wonder how I’m gonna handle the shiny, happy bandwagon fans if the Chiefs win a few superbowles.

Berserker

Yah, hoodies are expensive now. There’s nothing more high end than a low end that goes high end.

Tony Sommer

Part of it is that these are high end, and normal hoodies I was thinking of are around that $30-$40 I was expecting.

Fire_FG_the_moron
Fire_FG_the_moron

OL sized anything adds $10 to everything. Whats worse, I have to order everything online out here.

stjoechief

I’ve always gone with defensive players, although I do have an old Marcus Allen jersey that I break out from time to time. I like having a current player (personal preference). I bought a Berry jersey when he was drafted and was able to get it autographed at training camp the year he came back from cancer. It’s now framed. I then got a Chris Jones jersey because I loved him picking the Rog up in a bear hug when he was drafted; he’s done nothing to make me regret it. If he ends up tagged/traded, which I still doubt, I’ll get a Mahomes jersey like everyone else.

MasterChief
MasterChief

All 3 of my jerseys have been gifts (I’m cheap and lucky to have good friends and gf). All offense because I’ve always had man-crushes on Chiefs RB’s. But hell yeah I’ll wear my Mahomes jersey too.

Priest Holmes (away)
Jamaal Charles
Patrick Mahomes

I’d be interested to see who your next defensive jersey would be since you seem to have pretty good luck with that!

stjoechief

At this point I don’t know. Thornhill may turn into Ed Reed, but I’m quite ready to jump on that bandwagon.

MasterChief
MasterChief

Fingers are crossed!

stjoechief

“Not” quite ready to jump on that bandwagon. Duh.

ForeverRanger91
ForeverRanger91

Outside of current players, the only former player that has been retired for a while that I am interested in getting a jersey of is Hall.

MasterChief
MasterChief

I’d wear a Dante Hall jersey any day.

ForeverRanger91
ForeverRanger91

My brother in law owns one and refuses to part with it.

One week from today I’ll be up in St. Joe watching training camp for the first time ever! Anyone have suggestions for a newbie? Restaurant recs?

stjoechief

For almost anything other than chain/fast food you have to go west toward the downtown area. There’s a food truck in the Hyvee parking lot called VanZino’s that has decent, though not great BBQ. Moving west down Frederick Ave there is a great hole in the wall Mexican place called Mi Familia (also El Taco H); it’s in the end part of a Sinclair gas station. Great tacos, burritos, and nachos. Further down is the original Il Lazzarone pizza (the one in the River Market is their second location). And way down close to the river is Boudreaux’s, a pretty good Cajun place. Love their onion rings.

Hope that helps a little.
