Welcome back to the week AG! We had another bit of positive leaning news regarding the Tyreek Hill investigation as the broken arm was determined to be an accident. That said, as more information becomes available that although a suspension seems likely, by all accounts it appears Hill will be a Chief in 2019 as long as the current trend in information continues. However, his future with the team beyond this year is still likely in question. I suspect this will be the narrative of the entire season until the Chiefs either extend him or it becomes apparent that they will not.

Tonight I didn’t follow my usual angle of only buying beef when on sale or markdown, and paid full price for a 1# chuck steak. Of-system, but ther marbling’s so nice I just couldn’t walk away from it. a buck for 4 marked-down hoagie rolls from some local-ish bakery that are still feeling fresh, and if I can get enough stuff done to cook, tomorrow we’ll have cheesesteak sandwiches. Definitely glad they can ship Vidalia onions this far north.

Tony Sommer

For the first time in the playoffs, we get the Warriors full starting lineup, although it remains to be seen if they’re all 100%.

Tony Sommer

Or I guess not, did I miss something about Cousins? I haven’t seen him at all in the 1st quarter.

But Durant is making a huge difference so far. If he leaves I don’t know if the Warriors will be able to win another championship without some major retooling.

Tony Sommer

Durant is injured, Warriors are toast. Raptors fans cheered his injury.

BleedingRedAndGold

A bit surprising for Canadians, eh? Buncha hosers, but not as tacky as when whosit got injured at Arrowhead and Chiefs fans cheered. Granted that I expect that many if not most were cheering for the replacement rather than the injury, but that was a definitely awkward bit of timing.

Tony Sommer

In this case it was clearly cheering the injury itself, there’s no doubt about it.

Shit like that is disgusting. The only way I understand it is if it is a Burfict type player.

Tyrone

People are being way too sensitive. Fans reaction has no effect on his injury. It’s not making it any worse, so who cares? Besides, the cheering reaction is really just the joy that the situation likely puts their team closer to winning a championship. I don’t think the majority of the fans are glad that a player is injured, they’re ecstatic that they’re closer to winning.

If people want to feign outrage over something that actually has no meaningful implications for anyone, go for it.

MidKan Chiefs Lifer

This makes sense to me also. Cant say as I was outraged, just seemed a disgusting act to cheer at his injury. But as you explain it, it makes sense that they are really just cheering about being closer to a championship. That is understandable.

BleedingRedAndGold

To me it’s a form of rudeness and kinda akin to rubbing salt into the wounds, so to speak. I don’t approve of it and find it distasteful, but I’m not outraged. Being rude or tacky isn’t a crime…yet.

And in the sense that people are far too easily offended by things that have little to no effect on them, these days, I agree with you. Ain’t like it was a victory riot – and I was very grateful that the Royals victory parade went down so smoothly. Wrecking other people’s stuff because sports stuff is something that will draw my ire, and is criminal behavior, to boot.

Mitko

I mean athletes are people, who get hurt not robots that break down. How would you feel if your kid got hurt and I started cheering and high-fiving my friends?
No it doesn’t effect the game or the healing time. It’s a dick move none the less. Something doesn’t have to be physical and tangible to be a bad action. (Using an extreme example here) but dropping the N word or cheering for Nazis doesn’t have a physical tangible effect, but it’s still negatively impactful

BleedingRedAndGold

Oh, I didn’t doubt you, but the Arrowhead thing had at least some fans cheering the injury of their own team’s player, and enough more for other reasons to make it look like the fans were cheering the injury. With rare exceptions, I don’t cheer when a player for either team goes down, or approve of it, but the opposition’s player vs. the fans’ own player, the opposition’s a mite more forgivable, so to speak.

No one in Toronto is actually Canadian

BleedingRedAndGold

There must be a joke hidden in there, but I’m not seeing it, for some reason.

Tony Sommer

I assume it’s because there are a lot of foreigners living in Toronto. It’s a very cosmopolitan city.

BleedingRedAndGold

Could be, but then I know about as much about the place as I do poutine. I can also be very literal-minded about some things.

Mondays…

In about a year or two I want to sell my current car (a 2012 Hyundai Elentra) and buy a Camaro or something similar. But I’m pretty inexperienced when it comes to buying cars (the only one I ever bought was my current one, which I bought from my dad), so I’d like some advice from AG as I think about what I want to do. Specifically:

* As far as that class of cheaper sports cars goes (mustang, camaro, etc.), are they pretty much the same? I’ve only ever driven a camaro when I rented it.

* I don’t care about having the latest and greatest, but I don’t want an old junk car either. I was planning on maybe 2-5 year old car when I buy. Is that a good range?

* Would it have significantly more issues than a car like my Elantra?

I’ll let the gear heads chime in on those details but I was always a bit partial to the trans am from an aesthetic perspective. Discontinued in 2002 but apparently there are some limited edition ones you can get that are made under license from GM to a company called trans am Depot

used car dealer here 30+ years. How much is your budget?

Tony Sommer

I’m not sure, depends what my Elantra would sell for. I probably wouldn’t want to have to spend more than $10k on top of whatever that is.

Tony Sommer

My Elantra has 38,500 miles on it at the moment.

Why a sports car? White panel van with bars between the seats and cargo area is the way to go.

Tony Sommer

As a bachelor I need a car women want to ride in, although the van would be able to fit all my girlfriends in…

My money’s on the van.

Also it makes driving so much easier.

Mitko

Also, Also if you lose your home, you could always just live in it down by the river

Tony Sommer

I could also live in my Camaro.

BleedingRedAndGold

I tried that when I was homeless, can’t say as I’d recomend it. Granted, it was a ’79 Berlinetta model, but just too cramped to sleep in.

as a car dealer, figuring out demographics is important, you’re a tough one to figure. I guess it’s really no secret — you’re a young man who wants a sports car. WaywerdSon is right BRZ is perfect for you. I like my sports cars in red or blue, yellow if it’s a ferrari

After 7 consecutive days of record setting heat we had a mild “cold front” move in today holding temps in the low 90’s. Looking forward to getting some work done outside this week.

As it’s a slow Monday so i’ll begin off topic (from football)

Since that cold New England December day in 1950 when I was born I have always been a Bruins fan, a Celtics fan, and a Red Flops fan just because that’s how it was, just like it is there where you live.

In 1960 I became a Texan’s fan in the new AFL (because the NFL was slow and boring) and followed them to KC and am still a diehard Chiefs fan till I pass on to that great football site beyond.

The point of this post is that I would like to say, no matter which team wins on Wednesday, I think the Blues are one hell of a good team and
should they win, they would have earned it.

As a Bruins fan i’m rooting for us but if they lose, i’ll be the first to congratulate the Blues, it was a great series to watch.

Tony Sommer

Why did you choose the Texans over the old Boston Patriots?

vvet818
vvet818

Don’t really know…..the old western appeal I guess

No Boston sports team should ever be allowed near a trophy ever again.

Sorry, that city has seen more championships in the last decade than it saw Irish in the 1800s.

Tony Sommer

Last 20 years:

Patriots-6
Red Sox-4
Bruins-1(2)
Celtics-1

Before 2001, the last Boston championship was 1986.
