As they say, we once again find ourselves knuckle deep in the week as we edge closer to a three day weekend that has Tony feeling all:

What am I doing for the holiday weekend you ask? It goes something like this:

Me: Hey don’t forget we’re off Monday for Memorial Day.

Wife: I know! I just remembered! But its supposed to rain…what are we going to do?

Me: Park our happy asses on the couch all day complaining about the weather.

Wife: I’m in.

Walking wounded or walking dead, start shuffling toward the 3rd shift thread. Thank you for your cooperation.

I’m always out meeting people. Tonight I met my brother from a different mother. He’s also is a Gators/Tebow fan as well as a big time Chiefs fan. In Knoxville that’s nothing short of a miracle, since there are only about five Chiefs fans here anyway.

CHIEFSandSABRES

Just got back from softball. What’d I miss?

CHIEFSandSABRES

Other than Breeland, ummm being, a larger human than last year. I think they might have taken this whole “revamp” the defense thing to a new level. Chris Jones posting pictures like he’s on the Andersonville diet, and Breeland been at Little Caesers daily.

Yeah I just saw that, I’m hoping it’s part of a plan for him to move to DL, but it’s not a good look

Dammit Speaks.

I feel like he gave the LB thing a good effort last year, but now this year he’s…..phoning it in.

/sigh

I ain’t defending that type of shit conditioning effort. I just will not.

Cleveland will get the draft in 2021, likely in conjunction with Canton and the HOF. 2020 will be in Las Vegas at their new stadium.

I’ve maintained ever since KC made the list of finalists a couple years ago, that we’ll get it around 2025, plus or minus a couple years. LA is probably ahead of us on the list, and will likely get it in 2022 (I’m actually kind of surprised they didn’t get it in 2021).

But after that I don’t know who is really ahead of KC. Of those 5 cities that were finalists only KC and Denver remain. Denver might get it before us just because it’s a little bit more exciting, but I don’t think many non-finalist cities other than LA will get into the mix ahead of us.

So I’ll predict LA in 2022, Denver in 2023, and KC finally gets it in 2024, which is really close to my initial prediction.

I’m convinced it’s not going to be in KC any time soon. They’d probably go GB or London before KC. Always a bridesmaid never a bride

Tony Sommer

I like to think I have a good feel for how the NFL thinks, and the fact that Cleveland was announced is a good sign. They announce those 5 finalists, and then the next 3 drafts were awarded to those cities.

But it seems they’re going with smaller cities, and it makes sense. It’s not like people are more likely to watch it if it’s hosted in their city, so the market size doesn’t matter that much. But smaller cities who don’t often get events like this are going to be way more willing to work with the NFL and make sacrifices in order to host it.

The other reason we’re relatively high on the list is that Clark Hunt has a decent amount of influence and does advocate for KC.

Also a lot of other NFL cities have hosted drafts or Super Bowls recently. NYC, Chicago, Philly, Dallas, Nashville and now Cleveland have gotten the draft recently, that’s 6 of the 30 NFL cities. And the warmer cities like Miami, Tampa, New Orleans, Arizona, etc., regularly host Super Bowls so don’t care as much about hosting the draft, and they won’t be as high of a priority.

So other than LA, which is such a huge market and have such a nice stadium they’ll want to host it there anyway, there aren’t a ton of cities left. Off the top of my head Seattle, KC, Denver, Cincinnati, Buffalo, Boston, Pittsburgh, Baltimore, Washington, Green Bay, and Charlotte. It’s easy to see why KC would be at the top of that list.

Like Los Angeles and its 23.5 combined fans give a shit about the draft. They cant even fill the stands for home games, like they’ll draw for a 3 day event for the draft.

Tony Sommer

Their new stadium is NFL Disney World, I’d be shocked if they don’t host a draft in the near future.

I keep hearing about how Clark Hunt’s influence is going to bring something to KC. First it was the Superbowl, now it’s the draft. Clark doesn’t care about KC’s revenue. He doesn’t even live in the City. He’d move the team to the middle of nowhere if it helped the NFL’s bottom line

Tony Sommer

We would have gotten a Super Bowl had we built the roof.

I really hope we get to see Mahomes at Mexico City altitude. The bombs will be flying.

That shitty wounded duck that Rivers throws will also be hanging in the air for an hour waiting for Thornhill to pick it off

In every year since 2008 in the NBA, at least one team was going to the finals for at least the second consecutive year.

That’s funny. This break before the finals is huge for them. If they can get Durant and Cousins back mostly healthy the Bucks or Raptors won’t stand a chance.

I’m pretty excited for this weekend. Doing a 3 day sail trip to Santa Cruz island with a group of buddies. Will be a nice easy sea state for the guys without any open ocean experience and even though the winds Saturday will be light we should get some nice tail winds on Monday to run with a nice beam reach.

Coches Prietos Anchorage

We should also have enough time Saturday to check out painted cave by the scorpion’s anchorage too

Fantastic! I’ve been there myself. It’s a beautiful place.

Fun fact: Santa Cruz Island was cut off from the mainland at some point during the last ice age and trapped a population of mammoth elephants. In this population, the smallest survived better due to less food needed (I presume) and eventually evolved into a sub-species of tiny mammoths!

Also, beware the massive male bull elephant seals. They aren’t afraid to come up and say hi.

Sudden

Good to know. Those seals are a bit too big for me to take on. I’ll have to invite Tony next time for backup.

But I dunno if we’ll even go onto the island. We were initially thinking about camping there but with hantavirus mice, lyme disease tics, and foxes that can open your tent we decided against it. Plus what good is camping without a fire.

I’ve seen enough nature documentaries on Netflix/Prime/whatever else (yay David Attenborough) to know not to mess with elephant seals. Nasty things.

My back is sore from falling Saturday in the rain. Can walk and everything but screw being able to lift anything over 25 lbs.

In honor of Rocket Man coming out this weekend, I present to you the greatest duet of all time.

Like the song. Not a fan per se, of the artists but, I appreciate a good tune when presented.

Not a good day in the Nasrani household. We found out this morning that my sister-in-law’s good friend passed away over the weekend, and that’s cast sort of a pall over everything.

In other news, we’ve got this weekend to look forward to.

Condolences friend. Your sister-in-law’s friend will be in my prayers tonight.

Sorry to hear that. I’ll say a prayer for them now.
