Changes to Sundays at the K.

Originally, I had intended for Sundays at the K to be a game by game recap and quick highlight of each weeks worth of games. If you do not already have PTSD from the Royals this year, and want to go back to that format, just let me know in the comments and we will give you a number.

That being said, after talking with the boss this week, and the entire world knowing exactly how bad the Royals bullpen is, we decided to scrap the idea of making people re-read the same scenario for every game. Royals take a lead in innings 1-6ish, bullpen comes in to blow it Every. Single. Time. Game over Royals lose. So this week, we are going to lighten it up, and let you scroll through the weeks worth of hilarious Royals related tweets. Laughing helps people cope with bad situations. So here are some laughs.

Probably the only thing keeping Ned Yost and GMDM’s jobs at this point is Whit Merrifield breaking George Brett’s 30 game hit streak from 1980. If they trade Whit at the deadline, and GMDM still has a job, airplanes with banners need to be summoned to the K. Please. Regardless, good job to Whit, and it was fun watching him break it on a squeeze bunt.

Anyone remember what Booth said after he jumped on the stage?

Open Thread for today

Royals conclude their series with the Cleveland Indians today at 1:15 Central Time. Use this post as your rally point for today’s game. The team has rebounded nicely from their 10 game losing streak to take the first two games from the Indians.

Make America Great Again?

BleedingRedAndGold

Incidentally, Boothe shouted “Sic semper tyrranis!”, or thus ever to tyrants, after he murdered Lincoln. As a ploy to make things better for the southern states, it pretty much backfired, which suggests that star actors meddling in politics and mucking things up is hardly a new phenomenon. He also broke his leg or ankle because one of his spurs caught in a drape, making his landing awkward, but he still managed to escape – but in the long run it didn’t matter, because with that murder, he sealed his own fate.

I doubt there was ever any intent to take him alive.

Royals! Yeah!

I was rooting for Tiger, Celtics, Trail Blazers, and of course Royals today, and so far I’m 4/4. The last 2 NBA games I’m pretty indifferent towards, although I guess I want Detroit to win since I stupidly put money on Boston to win the East.

Dozier with the walk off. Pen almost blows another game.

hahahaha Royals about to blow another game. Terrible bull pen strikes again

BleedingRedAndGold

The terrible bullpen just took down the Tribe in order in the 8th, only needed 12 pitches to do it. Good bullpen inning. But continue the narrative, by all means.

8-5 lead, then the dead last in blown saves and 26th in ERA bullpen comes in and the games tied, but youre right its not the bullpens fault afterall 8 runs is never enough to win a game of baseball

8-5 should be a lead that any competent pen can hold for 3 innings.

BleedingRedAndGold

Except the only bullpen pitcher who had problems was Lovelady, and he merely matched Junis’ 3-run first. 8th and 9th were good innings from the pen. And as for ol’ Dick, that was what, his second appearance in the Bigs?

Anyone wants to say Lovelady had a bad outing, I won’t argue. But don’t smear the bullpen pitchers who did well, especially since Junis gave up five, which did the bullpen no favors. Yeah, I get it, there’s evidence that supports the narrative, but the narrative’s based on tarring with a broad brush. Additionally, once you get locked into a narrative in your thinking, it blinds you to contrary evidence. The general “you” for that.

BleedingRedAndGold

One more thing about narratives: Once someone’s embraced a narrative, it’s extremely difficult to get the person to shake it off. Remember how there was a narrative on Mahomes, ‘He’s gonna regress. Young QBs always regress in their first season, and so Mahomes will regress”.

For most who adopted the narrative, they stuck to it for about 8 games, and even then it was a slow trickle away from it. And as I noticed a coupla days ago, there’s already someone banging the drum for that narrative, ‘Mahomes will regress, because reasons’. There’s no justification for it, but it’s an easy narrative to get away with. Mahomes might not pass for 50 TDs this season, but that won’t necessarily mean he’s regressed – except to those who substitute narrative for thought, who are likely gonna jump all over him if he falls short of the 50 TDs, regardless of W/L.

seven walks from CLE, and they had another pitcher chased off the mound. Hard day for the Tribe’s hurlers at the K.

BleedingRedAndGold

Cleveland was apparently expecting a sledge-o-matic from Gallagher, and he foxed’em the way Whit got his 31st game-hit, with a nifty little bunt.

Would you guys be interested in videos on how I go about my writing process, both article and my stories? It is an idea I have toyed with for a while.

BleedingRedAndGold

No idea, since I’m not sure just what such a video would entail. But that said, I’m always learning things, so I’d give something short a watch. My reccomendation’s shoot for about five minutes, but keep it dense. As C&S said, but I’ll add that ain’t likely anybody here’ll give you grief, if it doesn’t work out. Heck, half of what I do here came about because I had an idea and ran with it.

Not everything’s worked, but nobody gave me shit for the attempts, criticism was generally useful on the failures. As for successes, consider the Afternight threads. Not always a lot of activity, but if they vanished now, they’d be missed by quite a few. Nobody told me to do them, I just sort of started doing them on my own. And if I can have successes, so can you, so give it a shot.

Won’t be that short considering I am going to be writing something as I go through the process.

Kluber is all kinds of off today damn. I love it.

BleedingRedAndGold

Even with the strikes the ump was gifting him, he basically fell apart.

ForeverRanger91
ForeverRanger91

I was looking on MLB at bat and a few of those “strikes” weren’t even close.

BleedingRedAndGold

And those are just the gifts. Junis wasn’t even catching much in the “benefit of the doubt” zones, not the way Kluber was getting them. 😐

I have a lot to do today, but I’ve been distracted by these golf wikipedia articles.

On this list of major championships, it’s clear that golf is an English-speaking sport. Only 19 golf majors have been won by people from non-English speaking countries.

BleedingRedAndGold

Homer from Duda, game’s tied, no outs!
