Tyreek Hill Releases Video

Tyreek Hill released a video on YouTube today in which he discussed his “off season grind”. Some notable quotes:

I work to be the best, man. No days off. None of that. We don’t take no days off. If you want to be the best, you’ve go to work to be the best, baby.

I’m #1, how about that? So how does Chiefs Kingdom go, man? Behind your boy, 110%, man. I’ll stay workin’ for ya’ll. You see that peace tattoo? You see that peace tattoo right there? Hey, we’ll see a bunch of that this year, baby. Peace tattoo, baby. Yeah.”

What is notable about this is that not much is mentioned about the investigation yet Tyreek seems to not be worried about it at all. One would think his lawyer and/or agent would tell him not to say anything if they were worried so maybe this is a good sign?

Kietzman…that douche. Opening monologue was about this video. He was crying about how Tyreek made himself unlikable with this.

I honestly have no idea WTF that twatwaffle is thinking. He played the audio and I was clueless as to how Tyreek could fall out of favor with anyone after hearing it.

Fuck Kietzman.

What sucks is that there is no timeline for when this investigation is going to be done and a positive or negative determination is reached. a few days? a month? a few months. Deep down we all know it will come arround our 9th regulear season game where we cant make moves.

Interesting video, and not just for what Hill was saying. What he said, I think, was authentic when it came to what he was saying, or pretty close. More interesting, though, was what wasn’t said. Since the video received production credit, my working “theory” (which is to an actual theory as a working title is to an actual title) is that he’s got a PR firm he’s working with, and a pretty good one, too. If not that, then he’s at least gotten a lot of good advice about it from his lawyer and agent.

Why do I see it that way? First reason’s pretty simple; just look at the comparison between Hunt’s post-controversy video and Hill’s current one. Hunt meandered all over the place, and likely said some things he’d have been better off leaving unsaid. Hill, OTOH, doesn’t talk about anything WRT the investigation (Good legal advice followed carefully, I expect), but does talk about the support he feels he’s gotten from the Kingdom (That second punt return in his first home game is still one of the great moments in sports), albeit phrased is hopeful expectation, and how he was still working hard at earning that support.

BleedingRedAndGold

And just about as important as all that is the demeanor and body language he showed in the video. To my untrained eye, he wasn’t just going through the motions to make it look like a real workout, but actually was doing real work. That makes it harder for even an actor to play a role when the work they are doing isn’t associated with playing that role. Hill’s not an actor, but a football player. Could it still be an act? Maybe, but it’s consistent with that he was doing last off-season, which was working hard at mastering his craft as a WR.

And finally, IMO he’d have to be an awfully good actor to pull off that video and not show some signs of worry that he’d have if he had abused his son, especially with an investigation touching on his life still open. He may have had advice and some editing help in association with producing/editing the video without saying something that could cause him legal problems*, but nothing came off as rehearsed or even preprepared. It was Hill saying the same Hill things as from a year ago.

I am by nature and training someone who is highly attuned to things that are out of place in a normal environment (hyper-vigilance will do that to you), and I caught nothing out of place in Hill’s video.

*Yes, even if he’s 100% innocent, saying the wrong thing could still get him into serious legal trouble. The simple fact of innocence won’t even necessarily protect you from being convicted of something in court. Some folks even get convicted in the face of evidence that indicates their innocence, like the school principal who was convicted of killing his wife. Because despite having been staying at a hotel in another city, despite the fact he had poor night vision, and despite the established fact that it was raining pretty heavily on the night of the killing, the jury believed he must have driven back home through those conditions, murdered his wife, then driven back to the hotel, all without anyone at the conference noticing anything abnormal in his behavior the next day.

Meanwhile, the jury also saw nothing hinky about the key piece of evidence being “discovered”, not by the police but by a PI his dead wife’s brother had hired. There was better evidence implicating another killer, but he was a cop, and “back the blue” meant he wasn’t arrested for it or another killing with all the same earmarks – and never will be, because the cop eventually killed himself.

BleedingRedAndGold

Since then, the “key” “blood evidence” found on the flashlight “discovered” by his former brother-in-law has been debunked, but the system has been fighting hard to preserve the conviction. Because contrary to public belief, if evidence surfaces to invalidates a conviction, the prosecution’s /extremely/ reluctant to admit its mistakes. They’d rather keep innocent people in prison to “protect” the reputation of the office and its staff.

Peace tattoo remarks are interesting.
Clearly a double message.
