“Hey Here’s A Good Plan … Let’s Take a Guy who Obviously needs to Not Fritter Away His Second Chane w/ the Lottery Ticket The NFL Gave Him & Stick Him in His Old Stomping Grounds , Near His Crack Head Family & Ne’r-Do- Well Posse …” Said NoOne Ever … : (

A lot of truth in that.

The selfish part of me wants to say “ohh I wish we still had Kareem rushing for us and leapfrogging people and scoring touchdowns.” In all honesty I will say this, I am 100% happy Kareem is getting a second chance. I hope he tears it up in whatever games he gets to play next year, and I hope he uses his past experience as a teaching tool for those around him. Don’t just be quite about it Kareem. Everyone knows what you did, now have the willpower and humility to go into the cities, go to the jail cells and talk with other men just like you. Use your status as an NFL player to help others who never get a second chance. I am happy for the person that is Kareem Hunt, and that he has the opportunity to overcome these issues. I sincerely hope he can find sobriety, conquer his demons, and be a better human being. We only have 1 shot at this time on Earth, and if we let all our past transgressions drag us down, we will never succeed. Time for him to help others.

Very well said.

“All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us.” – This is actually from the Lord of the Rings, and I think it’s a prescient quote for these circumstances. Hopefully he is able to turn it around.

Touchy subject but I just don’t understand how they draft Tyreek for what he did to a pregnant woman but kick Kareem off for this. I don’t believe in any kind of violence to women whatsoever I just don’t understand. I believe in 2nd chances in life (lord knows I’ve had my fair share) just wish his 2nd chance was in KC.. & I love Tyreek being on this team so plz don’t persecute me to bad…

Tarkus

There was no video of Tyreek’s incident, or we’d have never drafted him.

Imo.. that don’t make it better but really it’s just water under the bridge I just hope he gets help for his anger & alcohol abuse..

The whole #metoo movement, along with everyone in Hollywood and social media overreacting to everything doomed Kareem. And when I mention overreacting, I mean initially, everyone always tweets some uneducated garbage before the true facts come out. That being said, Tyreek was punished. He was kicked off Oklahoma State, did his community service, and then had the same chance to be drafted by all 32 teams. His second chance started while he was in college, and our team decided he had done enough to warrant being drafted. Kareem Hunt was already employed by the team, so much like Tyreek at OSU, he was shown the door for what I can determine was combo of 1) the incident in question 2) not being completely forthcoming with the team and 3) other reports that were coming out of other incidents at clubs etc.
Believe me I wish the Chiefs would have just helped him, instead of cutting him. Would look better on the team as a whole IMO. Far to often are people with issues, be it mental, social, substance abuse issues just shown the curb, instead of being sat down and talked with. The team would have looked magnificent if they would have said “hey we aren’t cutting Kareem, we are going to get him all the help possible, no matter how long it takes, to ensure this human being is okay.” They didn’t do that.

I agree with this completely….

upamtn

he was cut primarily for NOT being honest about it with the team … what you list as #2

had he said something to the team much earlier, I’d imagine that he’d still be with the Chiefs, but nobody … and I mean NOBODY … likes to be lied to

that’s my hot taek

Tlback20

Completely agree Upamtn. Had he been honest and upfront about the issue I believe he would still be with the team. It’s just like being a parent, if your kids are up front about what they did their punishment is usually less than finding out about it later after they’ve lied.

He was cut because he did it while he was on the team. Cutting him was the right move.

Sucks balls but it was the right rhing to do.

ChiefArrowhead

It’s more because he lied about everything to the chiefs.

I still think it’s BS that teams are pretty much strong-armed into cutting players for stuff like this but then another team is allowed to scoop up the player with little complaint. The chiefs could’ve sat on 8 games. I’m not saying it wasn’t the right thing to do. Just that the other team benefits. Can you imagine Hunt back in full form giving our defense fits in the playoffs?

Tarkus

Meh. The Browns received plenty of criticism. They were willing to take it, while the Chiefs weren’t.

If they are strong-armed, it is by public pressure, not the NFL. The teams choose to bow or not as they will.

Glad to see that he isn’t trying to contest it. He’s just taking the 8 game ruling and trying to move on with his life.

I’m good with this punishment. He’ll have more time to fully devote himself to anger management and alcohol counseling. Good luck to the kid.

If he is going to kick a girls ass, he should be better at it

workingmansdead

I hope that’s what he chooses to do.

Not trying to start a war but, I clearly recall over at another place, someone leading the anti-Tyreek movement. The same person that said the Chiefs should have never drafted Tyreek after his incident is OK with the punishment Kareem has been given. The biggest differences being no video for Tyreek, he choked and punched her, Kareem pushed and kicked. So explain how Tyreek’s situation makes him undraftable and Kareem’s situation is 8 game suspension and anger management and alcohol counseling. It cant be selective outrage. If Tyreek is such a bad person, why is Kareem not held to a similar standard? This will hopefully be all I say on this article.

That’s a complete and total lie. Tyreek beat and strangled a pregnant girl. The girl here was not injured and he didn’t really even touch her. All I really saw was a bunch of posturing and chest-thumping. If he had really wanted to hurt her he could have regardless of his bros “holding him back”. Big ass difference between beating a pregnant girl into the hospital and a bunch of puffery.

Same thing with the other kid that was on video (can’t remember his name). Yes, he hit that girl, but the girl hit him first. Yes, I wish they had handled the situations better, but I don’t necessarily fault them for that, just watch their future actions.

I honestly didn’t think what Kareem did was anything to get in a twist about. I used to go out to the bar every night & saw this type of confrontation 75% of the nights I went out. No one was injured. He didn’t punch anyone & that ‘kick’ wasn’t anything of the type. He shouldn’t have done it, but she shouldn’t have either.

You guys REALLY don’t get this, do you? The tape was damning. The fact that there IS tape is worse. What got him released, however, was lying to, I assume, everyone he spoke to about it. He never talked to the girl. He never left his room. Had he come clean, he’d be a Chief. They would have done something, sat him for a few games, and it would have been over.
No, this was WAY less than what TH did, but there is no tape of Hill & he owned it right away.

Chiefsfan115
Chiefsfan115

He took her phone and kicked her out of the room. I’d be pissed too. Then he lied to Brett, Andy, and Bob face to face. I don’t care about Kareem Hunt anymore, glad he’s gone.

Tyreek married his victim. What punishment could possibly be worse than that? She could walk away with 50% of his money and his kid and there’s nothing he can do to stop her.

starry1

They’re not married. She is pregnant with twins though, at least that’s what I just read in the Star.

starry1

Well I do agree with him being cut because of the lying and constantly acting out. Yeah, it hurt our team, but Kareem needed that reality check as a human being, if not as a player.

i will not enjoy watching him play for another team
