Browns Sign Kareem Hunt

According to Ian Rapoport, the Cleveland Browns have signed former Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt.

Kareem Hunt was released by the Chiefs after TMZ published a video of Kareem in an altercation with an underage girl who had been partying in his hotel room that night and had seemingly refused to leave. This of course happened in Cleveland, where Kareem Hunt, and all his troubled past, is from.

This seems like the worst possible landing place for him, on a personal level, in the entirety of the NFL. It does however reunite him with GM John Dorsey, who drafted him in Kansas City, and presumably knows his background better than any other front office.

Yall should read the article on the Browns and Jimmy Haslem and thank the football gods for owners like the Hunts, I think its hilarious that the Broncos and the spoiled rich kid who wins that club is gonna turn it into the Browns and Redskins.

Brett Veach isn’t half the General Manager John Dorsey is.

Nice high upside pickup by Dorsey. It’s gonna be weird fighting with the Browns for the top seeds in the coming years.

This is a hard subject, but I can personally relate to him getting a second chance. I’m a recovering alcoholic who, thankfully has been given a second chance at life. Regardless of the scenarios, if we do not offer people a second chance, they will continue with their habits. It took me getting drunk, crashing a car, losing a great high paying job and going to rehab to finally get my head clear. Alcohol had that much of a control on my life, I literally couldn’t shake it. Looking at Kareem Hunt, (and honestly not knowing his personal background) but maybe he was brought up around this stuff, where taking your anger out on people, regardless of sex, was just habitual. Is it right, of course not, but some people cannot simply ask for help. My wife stuck with me, didn’t take my children, and has supported me 100% of the way as I remain sober. Several people asked me “why couldn’t you just stop.” Well I didn’t know how. Every time I would drink I would think of my deployments, my time in the Marines and trouble would ensue. Probably much of the same with him. Kareem Hunt probably had to blow up enough times, cause enough trouble, to finally get exposed and GET the help he needed, because he didn’t know how to ask. I sincerely wish him nothing but the best. He needs to use his position as someone in a spotlight to MAKE a difference. Right the wrong and show the world.

Semper, brother, glad you’re doing better

I agree 1 trillion percent.

I’m also glad to see you’ve been able to conquer some demons and continue to do so. People like you give the rest of us hope.

Congrats on your sobriety and thank you for your service.

I hope Kareem is able to turn it around as much as anyone. It sucks that it had to happen in the way it happened, but sometimes we all need a wake-up call.

Tyreek Hill was given a second chance and turned it around. Let’s hope Kareem can as well, and maybe one day (if the bridge hasn’t been too burned) come back to the red and yellow.

CHIEFSandSABRES

Exactly it sucks for Kareem it had to happen that way, AND it sucks for everyone involved. The girl, the other incidents, it sucks for those people. Kareem has to make amends, but also at some point he HAS to put this behind him, move on and become a better person. He has the money and sway to make a solid difference in that community.

Good luck Hunt, I hope it works out.

Good for him. He still has a lot of fight in him and will continue to kick some ass in Cleveland. I’ll see myself out…

So this dude is being investigated for 3 total incidents; only apologizes for one… and this statement is reviewed by PR people and lawyers? I mean best of luck to him but I don’t think he gives a shit

I’d agree with that.

I wouldn’t apologize for defending myself against another man.

Afaik, he apologized for what he did wrong.

Mitko

I’d tell Hunt the same thing I’d tell Taylor Swift…
If you keep getting into fights maybe the problem is you.

If I were Nick Chubb, I would not be happy right now. If I were Veach, I would be on the phone with our old pal and see what it would take.

Hurts me down deep to know if the Kareem situation didn’t happen we are probably SB Champs

slackator

I dont believe that, Kareem is a special HB but Williams is no slouch and we still had that efense. Hunt hurt our SB odds slightly but I dont believe for a second he was the difference between losing the AFCC and winning the SB

Hurts me to know that if Andy had the balls to fire Sutton last year we would have won the super bowl.

1) F*** you Dorsey. You gambled on him the first time and lost. Then you get to gamble on him a second time without paying the consequences of the first loss. KC got left holding that bag.

2) Kareem is in serious jeopardy going back to Cleveland. Worst place for him to go. I hope he makes new friends ASAP.

3) Kareem misbehaves and arguably gets a pay raise. Flash Gordon smokes some pot (legal in several states) and gets the boot. Hardy assaults a GF and still gets a job. Krapperdick commits no crime and is blackballed. Ray Rice gets an indefinite suspension only after the video becomes public. Patriots continue to f***ing cheat and still win Super Bowls. Chargers can’t sell out a HS gym. NFL is a s***show.

I watched the Bengals@Chiefs again last night, Hunt is one hell of a RB, troubles aside, he is a difference maker. Oh well, perhaps the football gods can be swayed to send Leveon Bell our direction? Does anyone know of any virgin sacrificing rituals?

Good for him.

I wish he was still a Chief but he’ll be good in Cleveland.

I figured he’d go to the Bears or the Pats but he should be a star in Cleveland.

Fuck you KC and your moral high ground bullshit stance. What Hunt did was fucking tiny compared to some of the other assholes in the league. The talent we lost far outweighs the tiny bit of bad press. Still pissed about this one.

workingmansdead

As long as someone has done something worse, that makes every other action that isn’t quite as bad acceptable.

Forever58
Forever58

Oh piss off, he didn’t do shit. He barely tapped a woman with his foot who was screaming racial slurs and punching him. It’s a bullshit move and you know it. Hunt should be in a Chiefs jersey serving his suspension and playing for our 2nd Super Bowl run in 2020.

workingmansdead

K

DenverDonkeyHater

Definitely wouldnt say he didn’t do shit. Being in an out of control drunken rage multiple times in one offseason isn’t shit.

My biggest problem with the whole thing is that this should be an NFL discipline problem. If they can suspend players for smoking pot, they should also be responsible for disciplining guys like Hunt. It al goes back to Goodell royally fucking up the Ray Rice situation. And no I don’t believe for a second that the real reason he was released was that he lied.

Berserker

He’s going to be on the commissioner’s exempt list still. So, basically suspended indefinitely. The Browns will have to kowtow to Goodell to get Hunt on the field.

DenverDonkeyHater
DenverDonkeyHater

Discipline that should have occurred at the beginning of last season.

Just imagine if we had a healthy berry, a well behaved Marcus Peters & Kareem hunt.
We’d be 2019 & 2020 SB champs EASY.

But of course unlucky shit like this happens to the chiefs

A drug free Gordon in Cleveland is not possible.

Nor Foxborough, apparently.

Everyone in the comments saying this will backfire because Hunt is back in his hometown are either in denial or they’re being way too harsh on Hunt thinking he’s some guy with major problems that’s a tick away from exploding.

He gave a light kick to a girl that called him a n*gger when Hunt asked her to leave.
He punched a guy at a club.
Oooooo some real major red flags.

This fanbase doesn’t want to admit that Hunt’s going to kick ass.

Tyrone
Tyrone

Yeah I remember that part of the video where you could hear her say that too. What’s that, there was no audio? It was just him and his people that claim she said that? After he had already lied about it multiple times?

Red flags? He’s been seen drinking and getting into fights a lot by people around town, hell there’s been another video. The guy has problems.

This is a pattern of behaviour for him. It’s possible he doesn’t get into any more trouble, but it’s possible he does.

In spite of all that, and as great as he was for us, he’s a running back. They’re a dime a dozen so I don’t really care too much.

Mitko

He had three separate incidents of violence that were reported. So it’s not an isolated incident. Plus supposedly more unreported stuff.
